Bennybeebop yeah lots of people take those slow mo screens as proof of bad hitboxes, but fail to realize the animation that the character does when they get hit is different from the one they were doing before they got hit

The back hit of Incineroar’s upsmash is actually very consistent, as a frequent player, it catches people off guard so often
I think the Jank comes from the fact that Palu's head was really far away from the hand.
Rialster 2000 It wasn’t. Watch the video BEFORE the slow mo hit screen, you’ll see her head was right in his fists.
The slow mo hit screen shows the characters “hit reaction” animation, not the animation they were doing before they got hit. The hit reaction animation stance sometimes moves them out of the hit box, but it definitely hit before that

Herbs And Potato’s yeah, especially considering there was no hurtbox extensions (which is the usual cause of those weird hitbox clips)
Just want to mention, both the Ganon Down Smash and Incineroar Up Smash clips in the middle can be explained pretty easily. Cloud was in the startup of his back air and thus extended his hurtbox into the down smash. The same applies to Palutena. She was in startup for her dash attack which extended her hurtbox into the up Smash. The reason it looked like there was space between the two is because she snaps into her hit stun animation the moment she gets hit which moved her away from her original position.
Here is the analysis machine yet again (long post below):
0:09 2:21 Ken's heavy Shoryuken has some issues functioning properly sometimes.
0:35 Peach/Daisy's back air has a pretty generous hitbox.
1:05 Rosalina's down air has pretty big hitbox with the animation to match.
1:20 Snake's head and Cypher peaked through the stage and into Bowser's up smash, stage-spiking him.
1:43 Popo getting hit by the forward smash late into move, extended the move's duration, which made it seem like Nana forward smash'ed instantly.
2:06 Single-hit Explosive Flame does some jank stuff. It usually launches the opponent towards Palutena for a follow-up, but in this case it sent the other direction.
2:45 Pichu's TJolt launched the Remote Bomb at a convenient spot.
3:03 Splatter Shot's hitbox is more likely to make you flinch the closer you are to Inkling.
3:35 Just as the commentator says, K. Rool reflected the stitch face back to Peach, but the hitbox of the physical counterattack also hit Peach, which canceled out some of the knockback of the reflected stitch face.
3:58 I am not sure why, but the devs of this game gave Ganondorf's up tilt a semi-spike hitbox that it noticeably weaker than the rest of the move.
4:18 Simply how most projectiles interact with shields. It is rare to see Mega Man's down air do that, so that looked funny.
4:34 Double Team doesn't entirely have the best priority in terms of counters, combined with Bowser's armor on forward smash.
4:56 Inkling's up B pineapple'd with the stage, but the momentum of the up B made Inkling shift to the left.
5:17 Chroy's counter has a deceptively big hitbox behind him.
5:39 Two possible reasons to why this happened: 1) He exceeded the ledge grab limit; 2) Ivysaur's Vine Whip being weird with the ledges as always.
6:05 Ganondorf's down smash has a nice hitbox.
6:29 Incineroar's up smash has an overall generous hitbox behind just as the animation would suggest. The reason why it seemed to be bigger than it is, is because Palutena's dash animation makes her lean forward.
6:55 Mii Swordfighter's aerial up B has a tendency to not function properly sometimes.
7:20 TLink's bomb hit Wolf, which for some reason made Wolf ignore collision.
7:42 Roy's momentum (some of it anyways) and hitstun state got canceled by briefly landing on the platform.
7:55 Palutena's up air multi-hits don't deal the damage to reflect Gordos.
8:16 Diddy's Rocketbarrels are wack. That is literally the only explanation I got for this interaction...
8:38 Palutena's grab clanged with Wario's aerial Chomp (a command grab).
9:11 A sick play from Robin. That is all.

If you drift in too far while using the hero's spin the last hit doesn't always connect
I don't know if it has any other reasons why it might whiff though
Also that mii swordfighter player shouldn't have gone all in on the last stock anyway, that was just a bad play on his part
It's not actually inconsistent, this happens very very often if you drift in too much. You need to drift back after the first 2 hits, then it'll always connect if you catch them with the back hits. It's just tempting to drift in to bring them as close to the edge as possible.
@@ChaosSolak Actually that works that way only if the first upb hit is the front one, there it was the back hit, it wasn't that obvious. I did the timing properly for a first front hit upb... anyway i should'nt be trying max range upb offstage

Rosalina's extends down pretty far visually to match the hitbox, and stages never stop hitboxes so that's not really jank.

@@unknownbenefactor5687 I got really confused by it myself since I main Peach and haven't hit anyone that far in front of me with B-Air despite B-Air having a hitbox slightly in front of her; I remember asking some Sheik mains about it and their best guess was that Sheik's arm got hit during the start of one of her attack animations since it actually did stick out pretty close to Peach (like, literally inside her dress) before the hit.
Unknown Benefactor sheiks arm was in peach's dress. Not sure this is a reason why smash isn't a good competitive game. It's been a staple of competitive fighting games since the early 2000s
@@henry7241 I'm under the impression that the purpose of a back air is to aim an attack backwards in mid air, especially since visually the attack is completely directed behind her using her torsos horizontal movement, correct? What we see here is a back air hitting far in front of her visual hitbox, literally no visual indication implying that the move should connect. That is what's called a broken hitbox dude. But as I can see by your profile picture that no amount of logic will convince you otherwise. And yeah people have competitive pig squealing competitions. Humans will find alot of stupid shit to get excited about. Smash is popular competitively because Nintendo has done a genius job packing everyone's childhood nostalgia into one single fighting game. It has always been one of the best games to play with friends and that sparked alot of purpose and motivation for people to start "becoming the best" or whatever. Exact same thing can be seen with fortnite now. Its popular therefore people will try to become good at it, even though the game is an absolute joke competitively. I'll admit fortnite is way worse of an example but the same is true about smash, the peach clip is proof that the game just isn't polished enough to be considered truly competitive.

I just want to point out, the reason the freese frame makes some characters look like they are being hit is because their hit stun animation will be the opposite of the animation they where doing before. For example. At 6:30 Pauletina heavily leans forward while running, but she leans backwards in her hit pose.

I guess you can't regrab the ledge after 10 seconds from the first ledge grab if you haven't landed, even if it is a tether.

6:43 isn't a WTF moment. That's standard gameplay. 2.0 changed Hero's Spin to not combo into itself automatically anymore; you have to keep the opponent right in the middle of your sword. ZheBed passed in front of Glitch, causing the last hit to not connect.
Here's what ZheBad might have been thinking:
Zhebad might have thought he needed to go all the way forward to get the kill.
He probably went to try to catch Glitch in the last back hitbox.
The last back hitbox (inconsistently) launches into the last front hitbox, meaning it also leads into a kill. Since it launches them to near the tip of the killing hit, you can use it to kill a few percents earlier.
He realized too late that he was too far forward and tried to adjust, meaning that Glitch was right in the blind spot where he wouldn't get hit by the killing blow or launched into it by the last back hit.
Or he just didn't react to being too far forward to get front hitboxes.
