    I think you are spot on with your analysis and on how to address issues by using a tailored practice regime that focuses on problems one at a time. I also agree with your opinion about reaching a skill level that is dependent on how your body works and that your body allows. I find your neurological approach to practice and improving ball tracking/hand-eye coordination intriguing and compelling. Thanks for all the advice and information. Cheers.

      Chris, great comment. Well-written, thoughtful, even eloquent...and no spelling errors! You _must_ be British...

      @@JamesDavisakaRemguy Well thank you James, yes, I am indeed British (but not upper class - I know my place!). Good luck with your tennis improvement. I have a slight knee problem at the moment so I am restricting myself to shadow swings in the back garden which means I have no excuse not to focus on technique and train my body to (gently) learn correct patterns of movement. And then there are those visual training exercises which are best done in the privacy of your own home. Hang loose James.

      Thanks Christopher, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Learning about the neurological side things changed everything within my own game. That's why I started the channel. Tennis can be very frustrating when you know how it should work, but for some reason you can't make it happen. We can't all win Wimbledon, but through consistent vision / coordination training (in addition to sound practice) we can make huge improvements.

      @@TennisHacker Or how about the most frustrating thing of all: when you can play to a certain level in practice but as soon as its a match your feet get glued and you start shanking the easiest shots. One of my 'specialities' is playing well during a tough rally and then getting an easy floater but fluffing it into the net.

    I love the way that you explain things & your method. It speaks volumes to me your "one thing at a time" approach. Thank you! What do you think of shadow tennis (if one does not have the other options (coach, partner, ball machine), ot not even a tennis wall close to home)?

      Thanks, glad you find the videos helpful.
      I think shadow swings can be great, but a lot of the time it neglects the part that most people struggle with, which is the preparation.
      So for “most” people, practicing footwork and preparation, when they can’t actually play, will be more beneficial.
      I made a video about a few weeks ago go ling over footwork patterns.

    Federer said the footwork can be learned but the strokes take talent. By 'talent' I guess he mainly means hand-eye co-ordination..?

    • @TennisHacker
      @TennisHacker  2 года назад +1

      I would imagine so yes. Tennis is all about the level of eye to hand and foot coordination. Not all of us can be Federer, but we can train our own systems to become much more skillful versions of ourselves.

  • @errorcode1133
    @errorcode1133 Год назад +1

    Great, but I would argue that "preparation" part has a purpose to generate more power and it should NOT be seen as an integral part of the swing. And - yes, if "they" start to prepare too late, maybe the solution is to start with not preparing at all, something like ITF suggests for beginners - play from a proper contact position without backwing. When that is done, purpose of preparation will become obvious and it will be much easier to time it.

    • @TennisHacker
      @TennisHacker  Год назад

      You can start from a pre-prepared position if you don’t know where the ball is going.
      This isn’t a lesson for beginners to learn the stroke. It explains how to improve and existing stroke.

    • @errorcode1133
      @errorcode1133 Год назад

      @@TennisHacker Yes but problem is when existing stroke has a bad foundation. I see that even with relatively advanced players, they have great stroke but they are working too hard, it is not easy nor natural for them..

    May i ask about hitting the ball, for example, in case of forehand, which part of the ball do i hit normally?

    • @TennisHacker
      @TennisHacker  2 года назад

      There is no normal way to hit a shot. The exact contact point will vary based on the type of ball and shot you are dealing with.

    The only thing we should be copying from Roger is the way he keeps his head (gaze) fixed on the point of contact until the end of the stroke (i.e. follow through). This one thing can somehow fix more ills than all the tennis tips in RUclips-dom!
    The only thing more important than that is good ol’ Rule Number One: Keep your eye on the ball. Now if only someone out there taught a course(s) on tennis vision...🤔 Know of any?

      Hahaha. It's surprising how hard it is to give free program away that can literally transform people ball tracking skills 😂

      Hopefully this video can help to change that. Record yourself play, then go through things in a logical way. If you find the preparation is the problem, focus on it. It might feel slow, but over time will allow you to improve more.
