hi, thnc for watch n, In a small nut shell, all of the parts of the engine are moulded or cast and drilled as components and not as an assembly, improving these junctions improves flow and power.
I have the same exact saw and nobody can seem to get it tuned including myself but mine doesnt tell you much just fired and and dies quick not much to go off of
@@ROCKNTV1 now I have got it running but I have to keep it running it wont idle and the adjustment screw doesnt work so I assume the jets flat or whatever where can I find genuine parts for this saw I'd like to refurbish it
I got another saw for parts, ebay is scketchy and you can find carb kits with out the hi low needles, that you might need. Dont know where you live, but up here in NH there are chainsaw repair shops to service small engines.
how do you set all idle screws, back to factory settings.... saw wont start anymore.exact same saw as in the video.craftsman 20 inch.thanks for any help.cant find a manual to download
I have one of those I got it for free the Craftsman branded one I put a Oregon bar on it 20 in but my Stihl still run circles around it Stihl ms250 ported custom-made Muffler 20 inch bar full skip chain
I have the 358356081 model and I’m trying to find a piston and ring kit. So far I’ve had zero luck. Do you know of any place that I can find the parts. The saw still runs but I wanna be prepared for when I’m GOING to need it.
sorry bro , I dont, I believe that is a Sears model # you posted , f'wer me, I would look for a poulan part number that matches, you might call them, I think they are still based in the U.S. Several years ago now i bought 2 of these used for just this reason = parts, You might hunt google for guys who mod these saws, as they have done the parts interchange work for you,.l m pretty certain you are not out of luck, even if your not out of the woods yet ;-) stop back if i can answer more for ya, a sub an thumbs up would be great. thanks for watch n
have you ever replaced the carb on one of these ? I think I need carb and fuel lines someone borrowed this exact saw and used motor oil in the mix instead of 2-cycle oil. And the ratio was wrong too. I have to repair this now. Any help greatly appreciated.
Man I bought the same saw off ebay. Guy said it was rebuilt motor and a lot of new parts, basically like new and ready to go. I've never gotten it to cut near as good as yours though. Can I get some pointers on adjusting the carb and maybe modding the muffler ?(don't think I'm comfortable enough to port the intake unless it's like common sense easy and I just don't know it yet). Thanks
"...porting on the inside of the intake manifold..." Do you have a video on that mod? If not, maybe you could explain to this newbie what that is and how it improves the saw's performance. Really like your videos....thanks for taking the time for share you knowledge and skills! Roy Lewis Buffalo, NY USA
Just drill three small holes in the muffler the saw will run better and the piston will stay a lot cooler real easy I have been working on chainsaws since the mid 70s take care my friend
Where does the vent go ,and you mentioned on your other video about working in a machine shop Im like u paid 50$ for the craftsman and some body gave me a stihl bar and chain so I took a stihl sprocket bored it out .625 to fit on the craftsman arbor and made some bushings for the bar and if you don't like sharpening chains that's the way to go
Many years ago (25+), I bought both a Poulan 3400 and a 3700. The 3400 finally died last year, and now the 3700 has died. I have MANY good chasins/bars for the two saws - so WHERE can I find a refurbished 3700? Today's Poulans can't hold a candle to the old-timers.
3Szczupak , $500+ for a Stihl ms 261 and I had the bar oil screw at max ! The bar and chain was so Starved for oil that It left A permanent burn discoloration around the bar from over heating. :/ I have seven chainsaws this Stihl ms 261 is a most disappointing Investment ... I have a love/hate relationship with Stihl . The old craftsman saws rocks ! And for the money it puts my 2 Stihl saws to shame......
