How I became a Catholic convert

  • The long story of how I ended up converting to Catholicism. My apologies that it ended up so long, I tried to shorten it as much as I could, I could probably talk about this for hours! My story involves growing up Evangelical, struggling with Calvinism and evolution, reading Rome Sweet Home by Scott Hahn, and finally finding my way home to the Catholic Church.

Every catholic is born again the bible way: through baptism. God bless. :)

    • @clubedejurupari

      @Geoffroxx
The Bible says we are born again through baptism:
"Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again (...) Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit" (John 3:3-5).
So, to be "born again" is to be born of "water and spirit". Without water there can be no born again. Soon after saying this, Jesus and his disciples went to baptize people:
"After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized." (John 3:22).
So, the Bible is clearly talking about baptism. The entire chapter is talking about baptism. Jesus had just visited John the Baptist, and John says Jesus will "baptize with the Holy Spirit", that is, "water and spirit":
"The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit" (John 1:33).
There's no "sinner's prayer" in the Bible. The Bible is clear in the teaching that one becomes born again through baptism.
You say: "You cannot earn Your salvation". And that's true, that's why even a baby can be baptized and be saved by baptism. As Peter says:
"and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you" (1 Peter 3:21).
You say: "only the Blood of Jesus Christ can purge away Your Sin" - That's also true, and that's why we need to drink the blood of Jesus, as He commands us:
"Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day." (John 6:54).

As a Protestant I was taught that Catholics hated the Bible, worshipped dead saints, and performed a large number of unbiblical practices. There was no way I was ever going into a Catholic Church. Later in life I worked with Catholic, and we sometimes talked religion during our lunch break. He insisted that these allegations were false, and I felt that in fairness I should investigate the matter for myself. I decided I was going to attend a Catholic Mass to see what actually happens, so I went in and sat in the back of the church to watch.
I was absolutely dumbfounded by what I saw. The entire ceremony was entirely based upon the Bible, and it was all about Jesus. There was no saint worship, and I did not see or hear anything unbiblical. I admit there were some things I did not understand at the time, but the experience was completely different than what I was previously led to expect from my upbringing.
There were three major parts of the Mass. The first was a penitential rite where the people acknowledged their sinfulness to God. The second part was called the Liturgy of the Word where they heard readings from the Old Testament, New Testament Epistles, and from the New Testament Gospels. That was followed by a Sermon (Homily) where the priest expanded upon the readings. The third part of the Mass was the Liturgy of the Eucharist, which culminated in the Communion service.
I came away from the experience a changed person. As I began to study the claims and teachings of the Catholic Church I realized that I had unwittingly developed a prejudice based upon hearsay evidence only. At no time prior to that had I ever investigated the Catholic Church independent of what I was told by my Protestant family, friends, and clergy. I realized I had received a one-sided message, that was very anti-Catholic.
Once I began reading Catholic sources a whole new world has opened up to me, and I am seriously considering taking formal instruction to join the Catholic Church.

Thank you for this video. Your story is so interesting and I can sense the goodness and purity of your soul. God bless you. I am a Protestant and have felt a growing devotion to Catholicism. It is so amazing how similar our stories are. My wife is Catholic and converted to Protestantism. Now I am thinking seriously about whether to convert or just pray the Rosary (I have been doing so everyday now for over a month) and observe other ways of praying. I have a little altar in my study room with a statue of Mother Mary and Jesus (things that Protestants don't really do). I visit Catholic shrines and have prayed Novenas to various saints. I keep thinking about whether I should just keep doing what I'm doing without formally converting or whether to convert. I guess I'm going to follow your advice and pray about it. I hope and pray that you are always happy and keep progressing forward on your spiritual journey. Once again, God bless you!

I like your comment. You will find that your conversion will probably not be over night, so don't give up and keep searching. I hear that the early Church fathers help Protestants realize how the RCC today has been the same as it was since the Apostles, and that is a good way to start your search. I would also strongly suggest that you consider who was here first. Was it Catholic or was it the Church of England. Why did the Church of England ever needed to be established, this is probably a good question to ask yourself and then look into. Then look into why other Churches suddenly pop up. You should also read Numbers 14. It tells us how people rebels against God's authority he established with Moses. You have no authority you have a messy society. Good luck with your journey of faith and God Bless.

Your story sounds somewhat similar to mine. I was a Protestant Christian for most of my life (I was brought into full communion with the Church last Easter Vigil). Your devotion to the Blessed Mother is a wonderful thing and I'm sure that you're finding that it brings you closer to her Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. I agree, pray continuously and allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you. If you're like I was you'll find that the small taste of the Beauty and Truth of the Church that you're receiving now will simply not suffice, it can be frustrating to have only part of the Truth, part of the Beauty. The greatest day of my life was when I was able to enter into communion with the Body, the Bride of Christ and receive Our Lord, Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Blessed Sacrament. May God, the Holy and Adorable Trinity bless you on your journey of faith. I will be praying for you. Seek always the Face of the Son and the Will of the Father in the Love of the Spirit, have a joyous Advent!

+godschild jesuslove You have facts in your reply mixed in with false claims. If you know a jewish rabbi ask them if there cannon of scripture is closed. The ones I have asked say no, it can still be added to. The Catholic church recognized the inspired new testament books and canonized them at the councils of Hippo and Carthrage 394AD 397AD. Your claims about Rome killing and doing unlawful things are true but don't get it confused with the Catholic church. The Roman emperors were always wanting to kill the Bishops of Rome the popes. emperor Decius 249AD "I would far rather receive news of a rival to the throne than of another bishop in Rome." You have a strawman argument about the Catholic Church I wish I could had more room to converse with you. One thing is for sure Jesus only established one Church and it ani't the one thats 500 years old. If you do respond please state your sect."let them show the origins of their Churches, let them unroll the order of their bishops, running down in succession from the beginning" Tertullian- The Demurrer Against Heretics.

How I ended up always getting along with protestant people? God Bless You! This video illustrates what every Protestant, and I daresay many Catholics, need to hear. Catholicism is the One True Faith of Our Lord Jesus Christ, it has been the guiding light to the nations since Our Lord sent the Holy Ghost at Pentacost and it shall always remain "even unto the consummation of the world". How great and good is our God for giving to us wretched sinners such a gift and also His own Body and Blood. You are an inspiration to all Protestants- come out of the man made, man centered religions of Calvin, Luther, Henry VIII and the others of the past 500 years and return once more to the faith of the ancients, the Apostles, the Saints and the very first Christians, come home to Rome.

+lolas185 The fact that the host stated 2 Timothy 3:16 and compared it to Sola Scriptura is a gross misunderstanding of the Bible as a whole. Because of his inability as most Catholics do, the Bible also states beware against the Traditions of Men in MANY places. How shocking is it that the Catholic Church forgets those verses and does not think about those when quoting this verse as the host did. It ONLY makes sense to use Sola Scriptura because it is God's Word and we are called to use God's entire Word (2 Timothy 3:16), put on the Whole Armor of God (Ephesians 6), and use the Whole Counsel of God to love, honor, & obey God (Acts 20:27) ... AND ... and, grace through faith alone, not of works so no man may boast--God's gift of salvation is free (Ephesians 2:8-10). Works are a result of submission to Jesus (the Bible), not trying to reach Jesus as Catholics teach (Catholic Bible). Why 'o' why do you, Catholics, not listen to God's Word?

    • @lolas185
      @lolas185 8 лет назад +1

The word 'alone ' does not appear in that part of Sacred Scripture(Ephesians 2:8-10) that is sheer invention. The Catholic Church has never taught we "earn" our salvation. It is an inheritance (Galatians 5:21), freely given to anyone who becomes a child of God (1 John 3:1), so long as they remain that way (John 15:1-11). You can't earn it but you can lose the free gift given from the Father (James 1:17).The Bible tells us we must have faith in order to be saved (Hebrews 11:6). Yet is faith nothing more than believing and trusting? Searching the Scriptures, we see faith also involves assent to God's truth (1 Thessalonians 2:13), obedience to Him (Romans 1:5, 16:26), and it must be working in love (Galatians 5:6). These points appeared to be missed by the reformers, yet they are just as crucial as believing and trusting. (1 Corinthians 13:1-3) should be heeded by all it's certainly an attention grabber.
Paul speaks of faith as a life-long process, never as a one-time experience (Philippians 2:12). He never assumes he has nothing to worry about. If he did, his words in (1 Corinthians 9:24-27) would be nonsensical. He reiterates the same point again in his second letter to Corinth (2 Corinthians 13:5). He takes nothing for granted, yet all would agree if anyone was "born again" it certainly was Paul. Our Lord and Savior spoke of the same thing by "remaining in Him" (John 15:1-11).Do our works mean anything? According to Jesus they do (Matthew 25:31-46). The people rewarded and punished are done so by their actions. And our thoughts (Matthew 15:18-20) and words (James 3:6-12) are accountable as well. These verses are just as much part of the Bible as Romans 10:8-13 and John 3:3-5.
      (EWTN library)

    • @lolas185
      @lolas185 8 лет назад +5

But here is the kicker ....The only time you actually do see the words faith and alone together in a sentence is in James 2:24, where James says, "See how a person is justified by works and not by faith alone”. (James 2:24).
Face it Luther was just wrong brother. Prayers for you to enter His One True Church.

    • @josephchristiancruz8503
      @josephchristiancruz8503 8 лет назад

lolas185 Thank you for your response. That was the best one yet, and I greatly appreciate it. So, here goes. Faith is dead without works, but you do not work to be faithful. You do acts of faith in recognition of your faith in Christ. Works are a sign of being a Christian, that which you sound like. Works do not make a Christian of faith in Jesus. A person is know by what is in that persons heart, and is saved by faith Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith. loved your testimony! I'm a convert out of protestantism who also studied his way into the church. I'm glad to hear your parents are taking it better. My mother seems to be mostly fine with it, though my brother thinks it's completely evil and terrible. Jesus did promise division in families over the truth though!

So much of my journey to the Catholic Church is mirrored in your testimony! It almost felt like you were telling my story back to me. I was confirmed 10 years ago, Easter 2009. I was blessed to have my whole family come into the church over the next couple of years. I know you pray for your family - don't be surprised when they come home, too! Thank you for your testimony and keeping the faith. God bless you.

    Welcome!
I was searching for how to say the Rosary and found your conversion story. The family thing is normal I guess. I did not tell my father I had joined the Catholic church for over 2 years. Its funny he thought it was because I married a Catholic girl, nope when we were married I did not believe in God at all and her and I agreed never to try and convince the other guy all she asked was our children be raised in the Catholic Faith. I can not tell you when or why but I was just drawn to the church, I went through RCIA twice also. The first time we had just purchased a house in another little town so my excuse was that but then I went back and went through it again.
RCIA was not that great back then (I have been Catholic for over 30 years now) most of the people in it were just there because they were getting married and I understand the Priest spent his time of things that would affect the marriages (which was how it should have been, this world needs more good marriages)
I used to think that all the stuff in the Mass was just repetitive but as I learn I find everything means something, there is so much meaning in the Mass and so much History in the church.
Thank You for a wonderful video and congratulations on you up coming marriage!

The Scientific Miracles of the Qur'an
      1-)The Expansion of the Universe
Edwin Hubble with his giant telescope
In the Qur'an, which was revealed 14 centuries ago at a time when the science of astronomy was still primitive, the expansion of the universe was described like this:
"And it is We who have constructed the heaven with might, and verily, it is We who are steadily expanding it."
      (The Qur'an, 51:47)
The word "heaven", as stated in this verse, is used in various places in the Qur'an with the meaning of space and universe. Here again, the word is used with this meaning. In other words, in the Qur'an it is revealed that the universe "expands". And this is the very conclusion that science has reached today.
      Georges Lemaitre
Until the dawn of the 20th century, the only view prevailing in the world of science was that "the universe has a constant nature and it has existed since infinite time". The research, observations, and calculations carried out by means of modern technology, however, have revealed that the universe in fact had a beginning, and that it constantly "expands".
At the beginning of the 20th century, the Russian physicist Alexander Friedmann and the Belgian cosmologist Georges Lemaitre theoretically calculated that the universe is in constant motion and that it is expanding.
This fact was proved also by observational data in 1929. While observing the sky with a telescope, Edwin Hubble, the American astronomer, discovered that the stars and galaxies were constantly moving away from each other. A universe where everything constantly moves away from everything else implied a constantly expanding universe. The observations carried out in the following years verified that the universe is constantly expanding. This fact was explained in the Qur'an when that was still unknown to anyone. This is because the Qur'an is the word of God, the Creator, and the Ruler of the entire universe.
      2-)The Function of Mountains
The Qur'an draws attention to a very important geological function of mountains.
"We placed firmly embedded mountains on the earth, so it would not move under them…"
      (The Qur'an, 21:31)
Mountains have roots deep under the surface of the ground. (Earth, Press and Siever, p. 413)
Schematic section. Mountains, like pegs, have deep roots embedded in the ground. (Anatomy of the Earth, Cailleux, p.220)
      31
Another illustration shows how mountains are peg-like in shape, due to their deep roots. (Earth Science, Tarbuck and Lutgens, p.158)
      31
As we have noticed, it is stated in the verse that mountains have the function of preventing shocks in the Earth.
With extensions that mountains extend out towards under the ground as well as over the ground, they clench different plates of the earth together like a peg. The Earth's crust consists of plates that are in constant motion. This clenching property of mountains prevents shocks to a great extent, by fixing the earth's crust, which has a very movable structure.
This fact was not known by anyone at the time the Qur'an was revealed. It was in fact brought to light only recently as a result of the findings of modern geology.
According to these findings, mountains emerge as a result of the movements and collisions of massive plates forming the Earth's crust. When two plates collide, the stronger one slides under the other, the one on the top bends and forms heights and mountains. The layer beneath proceeds under the ground and makes a deep extension downward. That means that mountains have a portion stretching downwards, as large as their visible parts on the Earth.
In a scientific text, the structure of mountains is described as follows:
Where continents are thicker, as in mountain ranges, the crust sinks deeper into the mantle.(4)
In a verse, this role of the mountains is pointed out by a comparison with "pegs":
"Have We not made the earth as a bed and the mountains its pegs?"
      (The Qur'an, 78:6-7)
Mountains, in other words, clench the plates in the Earth's crust together by extending above and beneath the Earth's surface at the conjunction points of these plates. In this way, they fix the Earth's crust, and prevent it from drifting over the magma stratum or among its plates. Briefly, we may liken mountains to nails that keep pieces of wood together.
This fixing function of the mountains is described in scientific literature by the term "isostasy". Isostasy means the following:
Isostasy: general equilibrium in the Earth's crust maintained by a yielding flow of rock material beneath the surface under gravitational stress.(5)
This vital role of mountains, that was discovered by modern geology and seismic research, was revealed in the Qur'an centuries ago as an example of the supreme wisdom in God's creation.
"We placed firmly embedded mountains on the earth, so it would not move under them..."
      (The Qur'an, 21:31)
3-)The Seas not Mingling with One Another
One of the properties of seas that has only recently been discovered is related in a verse of the Qur'an as follows:
"He has let loose the two seas, converging together, with a barrier between them they do not break through."
      (The Qur'an, 55:19-20)
This property of the seas, that they come together yet do not mingle with one another at all, has only very recently been discovered by oceanographers. Because of the physical force called "surface tension", the waters of neighboring seas do not mix. Caused by the difference in the density of their waters, surface tension prevents them from mingling with one another, just as if a thin wall were between them.(11)
The interesting side to this is that during a period when people had no knowledge of physics, surface tension, or oceanography; this was revealed in the Qur'an.
      4-)The Sex of the Baby
Until fairly recently, it was thought that a baby's sex was determined by the mother's cells. Or at least, it was believed that the sex was determined by the male and female cells together. But we are given different information in the Qur'an, where it is stated that masculinity or femininity is created out of "a drop of sperm which has been ejected".
"He has created both sexes, male and female from a drop of semen which has been ejected."
      (The Qur'an, 53:45-46)
In the Qur'an, it is said that masculinity or femininity are created out of "a drop of semen which has been ejected". However, until fairly recently, it was believed that a baby's sex was determined by the mother's cells. Science only discovered this information given in the Qur'an in the 20th century. This and many other similar details about the creation of man were stated in the Qur'an centuries ago.
The developing disciplines of genetics and molecular biology have scientifically validated the accuracy of this information given by the Qur'an. It is now understood that sex is determined by the sperm cells from the male, and that the female has no role in this process.
The Y chromosome carries characteristics of masculinity, while the X chromosome carries those of femininity. In the mother's egg, there is only the X chromosome, which determines female characteristics. In the semen from the father, there are sperms that includes either X or Y chromosomes. Therefore, the sex of the baby depends on whether the sperm fertilising the egg contains an X or Y chromosome. In other words, as stated in the verse, the factor determining the sex of the baby is the semen, which comes from the father. This knowledge, which could not have been known at the time when the Qur'an was revealed, is evidence to the fact that the Qur'an is the word of God.
Chromosomes are the main elements in determining sex. Two of the 46 chromosomes that determine the structure of a human being are identified as the sex chromosomes. These two chromosomes are called "XY" in males, and "XX" in females, because the shapes of the chromosomes resemble these letters. The Y chromosome carries the genes that code for masculinity, while the X chromosome carries the genes that code for femininity.
The formation of a new human being begins with the cross combination of one of these chromosomes, which exist in males and females in pairs. In females, both components of the sex cell, which divides into two during ovulation, carry X chromosomes. The sex cell of a male, on the other hand, produces two different kinds of sperm, one that contains X chromosomes and the other Y chromosomes. If an X chromosome from the female unites with a sperm that contains an X chromosome, then the baby is female. If it unites with the sperm that contains a Y chromosome, the baby is male.
In other words, a baby's sex is determined by which chromosome from the male unites with the female's ovum.
None of this was known until the discovery of genetics in the 20th century. Indeed, in many cultures, it was believed that a baby's sex was determined by the female's body. That was why women were blamed when they gave birth to girls.
Thirteen centuries before human genes were discovered, however, the Qur'an revealed information that denies this superstition, and referred to the origin of sex lying not with women, but with the semen coming from men.
5-)The Clot Clinging to the Uterus
If we keep on examining the facts announced to us in the Qur'an about the formation of human beings, we again encounter some very important scientific miracles.
In the first phase of its development, the baby in the mother's womb is in the form of a zygote, which clings to the uterus in order to take nourishment from the mother's blood. In the picture above is a zygote, which looks like a piece of flesh. This formation, which has been discovered by modern embryology, was miraculously stated in the Qur'an 14 centuries ago with the word "alaq", which means "a thing that clings to some place" and is used to describe leeches that cling to a body to suck blood.
When the sperm of the male unites with the ovum of the female, the essence of the baby to be born is formed. This single cell, known as a "zygote" in biology, will instantly start to reproduce by dividing, and eventually become a "piece of flesh" called an embryo. This of course can only be seen by human beings with the aid of a microscope.
The embryo, however, does not spend its developmental period in a void. It clings to the uterus just like roots that are firmly fixed to the earth by their tendrils. Through this bond, the embryo can obtain the substances essential to its development from the mother's body.(16)
Here, at this point, a very significant miracle of the Qur'an is revealed. While referring to the embryo developing in the mother's womb, God uses the word "alaq" in the Qur'an:
"Recite: In the name of your Lord Who created man from alaq. Recite: And your Lord is the Most Generous."
      (The Qur'an, 96:1-3)
The meaning of the word "alaq" in Arabic is "a thing that clings to some place". The word is literally used to describe leeches that cling to a body to suck blood.
Certainly, the use of such an appropriate word for the embryo developing in the mother's womb, proves once again that the Qur'an is a revelation from God, the Lord of all the Worlds.
There are hundreds of these miracles...........................................

Richard, John Neuhaus, Dr. Peter Kreeft, Dietrich Von Hildebrand, Dr. Taylor Marshall, Thomas Merton (Celebrated Trappist Monk), Bishop John Lipscomb, Bishop Jeffrey Steenson, Steve Ray, Dr. Robert Sungenis, Ulf Ekman (Swedish Founder of Word of Faith Evangelical Society), Dr. Scott Hahn (Valedictorian Gordon Conwell Seminary), Gerry Matatics, Francis Beckwith (President Evangelical Society), Tim Staples, Deacon Alex Jones, Norva McCorvey, Abbey Johnson

The Roman Catholic religion is given to you from Jesus Christ who founded it upon St. Peter.
Thank God. It has existed unbroken and undivided for 2,000 years.
Contrast that with Protestantism (division from the devil) which has produced tens of thousands of competing contradicting denominations which nullify the Word of God.
Oh, and as to Catholic crimes, perhaps you've never heard of Protestant England who killed tens of thousands of Catholics just for being Catholic.

Yours is a wonderful story - very inspiring...especially your one, early Protestant experience with communion - which seemed to be a Eucharistic experience in itself, for which reason I can readily understand not only your intense hunger for the Catholic Eucharist but also in making the Eucharist the Center of your whole life of Catholic life. Bravo! What a steady foundation, even within Catholicism, you have found. As a Catholic of 48 years, I would strongly recommend that you build upon this central foundation now, if you haven't already (I don't see it listed in your video topics), and open up the mystery of this profound Eucharistic mystery through Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. If you can find an Adoration Chapel or a time when your Church offers periods of silent adoration before the Blessed Sacrament (Christ himself), please explore this avenue as the Prime teacher you will ever need to know about yourself and how to enter into the closest union with God and Christ. Sit before the Blessed sacrament as Mary (of the sisters Mary and Martha in the Gospel) sat before the feet of Jesus. Like Mary, you will have chosen "the better part."

Thank you for your bravery in sharing your testimony. I hope you constantly grow in a deeper love for Christ through your journey. It's really interesting reading all these comments especially those who just seem to be hating on the Church without much knowledge.
I myself have been brought up Catholic, however as I grew into my teen years I wanted to know more about the Church after going through the motions of mass with my parents etc. I began to read and question as well as compare with other denominations and religions. There was no way I could follow something which wasn't true. Because of this, I urge my brothers and sisters to really study the faith before trying to tear it apart with little knowledge. This takes time, patience and much contemplation. Look at the new testament in light of the old and proper translations of verses, in particular that of the institution of the Eucharist "this is my body, this is my blood."
One of the most important things I'd like to address is judging a religion upon the actions of the believers. It was painful for me to find priests abusing children and the various other events through history which gave the Church a bad name if you will. My argument here is don't look at those who call themselves Catholic and don't practice the faith. Look at the lives of the saints for example. Mother Teresa being a well known recent one. Look at Saint JPII and his journey. I ask this in total charity and with humility without any force.

I am a practicing Roman Catholic, and I Love the Catholic Church, and its Rich faith that reveals far more than just reading the Bible. Our Catholic Bible has all the books of the Bible including the 8 Books the heretic Protestants removed from it. I Love our Devotion to Mary the Virgin Mother of God, the 'sign' from God prophesied in Isaiah. The Queen of Heaven described in The Book of Revelation wearing the Crown of 12 Stars is leading us to her Divine Son Jesus, and advocating for us 'Now & at the Hour of Our Death', in other words when we each desperately need an advocate before Our Blessed Lord the most. I love receiving Jesus 'Body & Blood, Soul & Divinity' as Jesus told us in John chapter 6 was necessary to 'have life in us' Jesus told us that His flesh was 'Real food', and His Blood is 'Real Drink', that we shall have Him in us, as He is in The Father, and The Father is in Him. Protestants walked away when Our Lord said that saying, " This teaching is Hard, who can accept it " even though Jesus knew what they were thinking and so jesus repeated it 4 times. Protestants often think Jesus is lying or doesn't mean what He says. Go Figgure. . . . . .------> . . . CAUTION: EndLess, Mindless, Religious Cut & Paste TOME ALERT . . . .------> The next Post is an endless Protestant CUT & PASTED Tome of no value WARNING ! WARNING ! Will Robinson !

More copy and pasting from antiCatholic websites, I see.
Find one of those vile spewing sites that explains this for me please: Why is it that the vast majority of you so called Christians trolling Catholic videos spend your time denigrating another's faith instead of evangelizing the non believer? So many of you claim that all one needs do is accept Christ as his or her Saviour, and salvation is assured, yet we find you here. According to this particular belief, Catholics are already saved since we have fulfilled what many of you consider the only requirement (accepting Christ), yet you will ignore those who have not accepted Him to instead tell us why, in your judgement (or with someone whose words you've lifted believes) our religion is false. You should hope your "once saved, always saved", "say this little prayer" magic to salvation is correct, but I'm afraid you'll be quite surprised come judgement day. Or is that a fairy tale as well?

    • @annelucas6819
      @annelucas6819 9 лет назад +1

182RG The shame of it is that the information that was copied and pasted contains half truths and distortions of Catholic teaching. It's to be expected because Catholic Teaching is often treated the same way as the Bible. By that I mean isolated verses in the Bible are taken out of context to prove all kinds of erroneous and contradictory beliefs. I think it is very sad to see how the more rabid anti-Catholics accuse the Catholic Church of being unbiblical when they themselves have so many unbiblical beliefs. I almost laughed out loud when the previous copy and paste spoke about being saved by "grace alone" and "faith alone". The dictionary says that the word "alone" means "without anyone or anything else : not involving or including anyone or anything else : separate from other people or things". So which one is it? They can't have it both ways if they are going to use the word "alone". This seems simple enough. Catholics know better than to participate in this type of silliness. As result, they don't have to contend with the kind of divisions that you constantly find in the Protestant faith tradition. The Bible tells us that "By their fruits you will know them". The fruit of the Protestant Reformation has been division upon division so that we have literally tens of thousands of churches that have broken away from the Catholic Church. Each of these churches claim that they alone have true doctrine based upon the Bible because they have guaranteed guidance from the Holy Spirit. It's been said that there are over four hundred different interpretations of Jesus' words "This is my body". I don't know if that number is true, but it is certain that the number of interpretations is much more than one. It makes no sense that Holy Spirit would be guiding all of these different churches to a different interpretation. Since we know that God cannot deceive or be deceived it would be impossible for the Holy Spirit to be the source of all these different (contradictory) interpretations. However, that's what you end up when you make they assumption that you can privately interpret the Bible. As a Catholic I can think of very few things that I regard as more insulting to the Holy Spirit. To think that the Holy Spirit has any part in the division, confusion, and contradictions that arise from these false ideas is beyond comprehension. There is much more that can be said about this, but that's all the time I have to address this topic for now.

    • @NaYawkr
      @NaYawkr 9 лет назад

1Fireskull No Catholic mistakes Mary for God. But Protestants do not know the whole truth about Christ and Mary is just one good example of your ignorance. Mary is "The Immaculate Conception ", and this means she was free from even original sin from her conception. This common sense since she was to give her flesh and her blood to Jesus. You underestimate God, who made His Mother sinless, as you should have figured out on your own. The Bible doesn't say this, the Church Christ Founded and empowered states this as a Dogma of Faith about The Blessed Mother. Once the Magisterium of the one true church declares it to be divine truth, it is. (Whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound also in heaven) Jesus did not leave us a Bible, Jesus left us a Living Breathing Voice of His Authority when He established His one and only true church, sadly NOT the one you belong to.
Where did Jesus say we could not 'Come To Him Through the Intervention and advocacy of His Blessed Mother ? " There are lesser and better ways of 'coming to Jesus', Mary is simply The Best way of all. Pray to Jesus through Mary for quick results. Jesus never fails to listen to His Mother.

Dear children, you must truly change, and stop sinning, because sin, dear children, impedes Grace
from reaching your hearts. You must implore for the gifts and fruits of the Holy Ghost, so that they help
you in these very cruel times, which are coming.
Dear children, I want you to be very alert, with your eyes wide open, so that you are not deceived
by the poison of the weeds. Look, their poison is fatal. You must not follow the weeds, because if you
follow the weeds, you will die.
You must protect yourselves, dear children. Place yourselves under the protective Mantle of My
Blessed Mother and Her Immaculate Heart, in My Holy Wounds, in My Sacred Heart. And don't forget the
    Holy Rosary.
Pray much, much, dear children. Pray much, so that the weeds don't penetrate into your hearts.
Love the truth, so that the truth saves you.
Yes, dear children, I wanted to talk to you about this. For this, I come, because I want you to know
the truth, so that the weeds do not deceive you with their venom.
Therefore, dear children, you must be alert, so that you don't fall into the hands of the Antichrist.
Dear children, heed My words, because the Angels are preparing, the Exterminating Angels are
getting ready for the harvest, because the times are ripe, very ripe, you must not forget this.
And now, dear children, I am going to bless all these Sacramentals, so that My children have the
protection, salvation, health, and also so that the weeds don't deceive you with their poison, I bless all of
these Sacramentals in the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

Ardent Fan, You banter the words, "doctrine and tradition" around. Do you know what they are? Who is God? How do you know about God? What is the source of doctrine and tradition. In the Catholic Church, as you can hear from this video, Catholics are encouraged to use their intelligence. What happened with Katerio did not happen from her being taught doctrine and tradition. God spoke to her through her mind, body and soul. What makes her journey home to the Catholic Church is that she stopped and listened to what God spoke into her. And once she did that, she found that all that was being told her was found in THE Church instituted by Jesus Christ.

Protestantism is a false Christianity, it is another gospel which preaches a different Jesus. Although, not everything Protestants believe or preach is false, they still do not have the fullness of the truth. Protestantism like all other false religions is partially composed of truth and partially composed of lies: by definition this makes it false like the rest of them. Protestantism is a false religion that was created by man on the radical concept of individualism, which leads to the bad fruit of theological relativism: thus the anti-gospel because it is anti-truth. Relativism (personal interpretations of the bible) is something that attacks the very core of the Pillar of truth which is the Church, given to us by God for our salvation.

Protestants never use a complete Bible, just a partial, incomplete Bible. Half Truths as opposed to the Whole Truth, and Nothing But The Truth. That's what they get for trusting Heretics like Luther, or what's his name 'Russel' who made up a Bible to deny Jesus is even God for all his Jehovah's Witness victims. "...for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you." -Luke 17:21
When will Catholics ever wake up and realize that the kingdom of God is not found in a building, or a religion, or a bunch of ceremonies and superstitions. Jesus said that the kingdom of God is within the Christian believer by faith alone.
There is not one Scripture in the entire Bible that teaches the Immaculate Conception of Mary, i.e., that she was born without a sin-nature. The truth is that Mary was a dirty, rotten sinner just like you, me, or anyone else (Romans 3:23; James 2:10; Isaiah 64:6). The only perfect and sinless human being who ever lived was Jesus Christ, and the Bible makes this very clear (2nd Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 4:15). Catholics also foolishly believe that Mary lived a sinless life.
Again, this contradicts even the plainest teachings in the Word of God (Romans 3:10). Jesus was born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14), which excluded Him from having the sin-tainted blood of sinful mankind. Mary on the other hand had an earthly father, and was born with a sin-nature just like any other sinner. Even more absurd is the Catholic dogma that Mary was "assumed" into Heaven, and never died an earthly death. This is simply not in agreement with the Word of God, which states...
Hebrews 9:27, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment."
Where do Catholics come up with all their heresies? I'll tell you... straight from the pits of Hell. The Catholic traditions which began at the Council of Trent are all heresies, NOT based upon the Word of God! Catholicism is a pagan religion, far far from the truth of God's Word. They have churchianity without Christianity!
"In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ." -2nd Thessalonians 1:8

      Mig Uel
Unbelievably, Martin Luther actually believed in the Immaculate Conception, which wasn't even definitively proclaimed as dogma by the Catholic Church until 1854. The Immaculate Conception heresy teaches that Mary was born without any original sin, and was saved from birth.
Luther held to the damnable heresy and Satanic devotional practice of venerating Mary, and expressed this on innumerable occasions in no uncertain terms.
Martin Luther died an unsaved heretic! In his own words, he endorsed the Catholic Rosary. By the way, when Catholics chant their Rosaries, it is NOT a prayer ... it is heathendom! Here chants of vain tradition. Jesus condemned such vain repetitions in Matthew 6:7, "But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking."
It is obvious and disturbing that Luther was extraordinarily devoted to the Great Whore of Catholicism. Luther's views of Mary as Mother of God and as a perpetual-Virgin are identical to those in Catholicism. Luther taught the Immaculate Conception, Mary's "Spiritual Motherhood" and the use of the "Hail Mary"--just as Catholics do. Luther didn't deny the Assumption of Mary, and was guilty of venerating Mary in idolatry. Catholicism's Mary is a spiritual whore, inspired by Satan to deceive the masses of the earth. Catholicism is over one billion strong today, and a menace to the cause of Christ. The Catholic Church and Lutheranism are prison-houses of religion!
Listen friend, there's not a dime's difference between Martin Luther and Catholicism. Lutheranism is nothing more than DIET CATHOLICISM. Luther sinfully idolized Mary, trusted in Baptismal Regeneration, and is burning in Hell this moment.

I was very interested in watching your testimony because I have been involved in the RCIA program for many years, and I appreciate having the opportunity to better understand the personal challenges for individuals such as yourself. Over the years I have had the pleasure of working with 7 individuals that decided to join the Catholic Church, and it's interesting to see both the similarities and differences in their faith journey. One dominant similarity for all 7 candidates was the realization that the actual teachings of the church were very much different than what they initially perceived as the church's teachings. Each one thought that the Catholic Church was unbiblical, and was simply following the traditions of men. That's what they had heard, and there had been no reason to challenge that belief. The turning point for each person was when they began doing their own research instead of listening to what others had to say about the church. They began to study the actual source documents directly (e.g. Bible, Catechism, Church Fathers, Council Documents, etc.). One candidate made an interesting remark to me one day. He said that his prior inquiries into the Catholic Church were like asking the Ford Motor Company what they thought about Chevrolet automobiles. The answer he received was that Chevrolets were no good, and you would never want to own one. He realized he was asking the right questions, but was asking the wrong person(s). He said that his error was asking for a competitor's view of Chevrolet automobiles when he should have been asking Chevrolet directly. How could he ever receive an unbiased response if he was always asking the competition what they thought? His approach was somewhat similar to yours in that he began to investigate each denomination independently. I found this to be true of the other candidates as well. They quickly realized that they had unknowingly developed a bias against the Catholic Church, and would need to rise above it in order to give the church a fair hearing. Once they began to evaluate the church on its own merits they were surprised and delighted by what they learned. All of the misconceptions and misunderstandings about the church were being answered one-by-one because they took the time to investigate it for themselves. I'm not trying to suggest that this was an easy process for any of them because I'm confident that it had to be the most difficult thing they had ever done in their entire life. Many of them, like you, were receiving opposition from their friends and family. It had to be very hard to discuss their journey with their spouse, mother, father, brother, sister, or close friends. All 7 candidates eventually decided they wanted to join the Catholic Church, and it was a free will act on their part. My role was to provide them with information, and to answer their questions, so they could make up their own minds. In all actuality, they converted themselves because they took the time to investigate the facts. The most interesting situation I encountered was a Presbyterian woman married to a fallen away Catholic. He was not at all supportive of her interest in the Catholic Church, and went out of his way to dissuade her. She politely told him that it was something she needed to investigate for herself, and that she did not require any input from him. During the course of her faith journey she discovered by things he said that he had never really understood the teachings of the Catholic Church. She really did not discuss anything with him, and was very surprised when he suddenly announce one day that he was going to attend RCIA classes with her. She was received into the church, and he returned as well. You talked about how various events in your life prepared you to receive the teachings of the Catholic Church, and I have observed the same thing in the 7 candidates I worked with. Their experiences with Protestantism were very positive, and they were thankful for the love of Jesus and the Bible that they had developed. However, there was a sense that something was missing or lacking that they could not explain. It drove them to look deeper into their faith, and that desire for the truth led them to the Catholic Church. It's an amazing process to witness.

Ron Aller Would you please stop copying and posting this same garbage from antiCatholic websites on Catholic videos? I think your antiCatholic obsession is taking control of you.

182RG Thank you for pointing out how the previous posting was simply a cut/paste from an anti-Catholic website. I found the original website where the material was copied from, and it's evident that the person who pasted it here was just parroting what someone else had said. I read through it and various other articles on that site, and quickly found examples of misunderstood and/or distorted Catholic teachings. This is quite typical when someone does not evaluate the source documents for themselves. If someone has a desire to debunk the teachings of the Catholic Church they should at least use Catholic sources to know what those teachings are. Otherwise, they will continue relying on the useless drivel they find on various so-called Christian sites. Sadly, there is a lot of animosity toward the Catholic Church by well-meaning people because they have no understanding of the church's history or its teachings. I once had a person tell me they disagreed with the Catholic Church on the use of artificial contraceptives, but when I asked them if they knew what the church's teachings were they had no idea. I found it strange that someone would declare their disagreement with a teaching and yet know nothing about the teaching itself. The converts I have worked with over the years realized very quickly that they did not have a true grasp of church teachings, which is why the RCIA program is 8 - 9 months long. It takes that much time to cut through the confusion and misunderstandings. We have had instances where people went through the program twice because they had to be unlearn blatantly wrong Catholic teachings, and re-learn authentic teachings. It would help if more people would get their facts straight before entering into the dialogue. Instead we have individuals that cut/paste information from unidentified sources, and think that they have "witnessed" to Catholics. In the final analysis they accomplish nothing except to pass on myth after distorted myth.

      Anne Lucas
Well put. And with each "witnessing", another pandemonium of parrots takes up the untruths and spreads them yet wider.
Then, we have those who take others' words and present them as their own in their unholy assault upon other Christians' faith. At least in this instance the poster did omit reference to having been a priest ... or does that make it worse in that it practically proves he intentionally intended to deceive readers into thinking the thoughts were his own?
Fortunately the Protestants I personally know are nothing like the majority of those posting on YT Catholic videos.

Once again, thanks for your testimony and your videos. I am Catholic I became an atheist at one time, but God's mercy brought me back, and He was the one who has to convinced me that he does exist as I would not take word from any person. Among the graces I received, he granted me the grace to believe in his real presence in the Eucharist, I had no idea that some people do have a hard time believing, I never had due to his grace, and I do not question it. Your testimony is very inspiring, thanks

God bless you, sister. Thanks for your testimony. I too am a Catholic, but a revert back to the Church. Keep the faith. Don't give in to the devil. The Catholic Church has only made me closer to Jesus.

You can’t be closer to a fictional character by saying you are a Catholic or Protestant. It really does not matter.

It does matter if Jesus Christ indeed founded ONE church. And He did. And that is the Catholic Church. "You are Peter, and on this Rock, I will BUILD My Church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against Her. (Matthew 16)." Remember those words from Jesus in 33 AD? Yes. The Catholic Church is the only Church that can trace its Popes back down to St. Peter (the first Pope). I will pray for you.
