What everyone seems to forget about the end of this monumental game: 1. Carolina was in the lead, not behind, when Webber tried to call the timeout. 2. Carolina had only 3 team fouls. Had Webber not tried to call timeout, the Heels could have easily run down a lot of clock with a lead by fouling 4 straight times. There were only 19 seconds on the clock when he got the rebound of Sullivan's miss of the back end of the one-and-one, and only 11 seconds left when he signaled timeout. 3. Lynch and Phelps, with only 11 seconds left, had Webber pinned in the corner with nowhere to go. This is why he tried to call the timeout. 4. Speaking of timeouts, Webber had also tried to call one at the other end as soon as he got the rebound. However, the referee, Jim Stupin, purposefully looked away, knowing the Wolverines were out of timeouts, because he "wanted to give the kid a break." (He was asked about this later, and those were his words.) This caused him to miss the obvious travel, which everyone else watching who had any basketball knowledge whatsoever didn't fail to notice.

Did anyone notice that the ref blatantly saw the travel but had no knowledge to call it. Imagine this, if Webber doesn't call the timeout and if Michigan scores then that call would have played as the worst call in basketball. Now, if you watch the Fab Five documentary they explained the entire sequence. As Webber grabbed the rebound you can see Michigan backup PG #14 Mike Talley putting up the timeout signal before Chris dribbled the ball toward the Michigan bench which caused confusion because as he came to the bench he shouted "TIMEOUT!!!" and Webber heard it which was instinctive to put up the timeout signal. This has psychologically damaged Webber to this day and you feel for him because he was the man responsible for leading his team to the title game. Now, he distanced himself from the other Fab Five member because of this moment. I hope someday he can find it in his heart to let go of the pain and finally find some closure.

I hate UNC with a passion I'm a blue devil though that's why , but that win wasn't well earned
R.I.P Dean Smith , can't forget the legendary coach .
When coach k croaks, so does your program. So sdfu.
no wonder Jordan Ploense that billy packer said for people not living in the tarheel state called unc tarheels mens college basketball home arena the smith center but if the people living in north Carolina they call it the dean dome
Rhonda Jones No need to be a jerk. He said he can't forget Dean Smith. Even though he doesn't like UNC
just like a dook player to say something like that, I bet the last two games UNC beat dook in 2022 were well earned, just saying
Michigan should have easily won this game
Ha. Says no one. Michigan was lucky to even get here.
@@MGAF688 they beat north Carolina in the regular season so how are they lucky to get their?
No game against Dean Smith was ever easy.
