- In May 1997, Diana, Princess of Wales was hosted by Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan as she visited the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Lahore, Pakistan. Opened in 1994, the hospital was founded by Khan after the cricket star became aware of the plight of poor cancer patients across Pakistan during his own mother's battle against the disease. Khan's mother, Shaukat Khanum, died in 1985, and the hospital was founded in her honour.
This 16-minute piece is a compliation of rushes - unedited, raw footage - from Diana's two-day visit to Lahore on 22 and 23 May 1997. As well as showing Diana's tour of the hospital, it features an interview with Imran Khan and speeches by Khan and the Princess of Wales. Also present is Jemima Khan (née Jemima Goldsmith), wife of Imran Khan and a close friend of Diana's.
A year before Diana's visit to Lahore, Imran Khan established the political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The next 20 years would see Khan transition from sports personality and activist to a leading political figure in Pakistan, eventually becoming Prime Minister in 2018. His later removal from power following a vote of no confidence has been a continuing source of division in Pakistani politics. On 9 May 2023, Khan was arrested after arriving the High Court in Islamabad where he was due to appear on corruption charges. His arrest sparked mass protests and violence erupted across Pakistan with close to 1,000 arrested and eight dead. Meanwhile, Pakistan's interior ministry has restricted internet services across the country.

Wow what a throwback…… it’s such a shame Imran and Jemima split up. They knew Diana on a personal level so can’t imagine their feelings when she passed away. For me still to this day my heart breaks for William and Harry, mostly Harry though in light of his ostracisation by his dad’s side of the family.
