I'm your parents age, maybe even a few years older, and managed and owned restaurants. It's a complicated process and opening day is very rarely the day you planned. Don't get discouraged by a delay (not a failure). The place is looking good and the opening (success) will be all the sweeter when it happens. Love the MuMu btw. Cheers!

Yup. Restaurants are crazy. I have worked at, managed, and owned restaurants.
A lot of people don't know what they are getting themselves into.
That being said, these two definitely have what it takes.
I agree, they shouldn't get down about it. They will push through.

I'm so amazed how Sadie was gone for that many weeks and when she gets home to the farm is so happy to see everyone and have everyone hold her. Wow not all kids are like that out going but she surely seemed to remember everyone. I really enjoyed just seeing everyone back together and just all around being so happy. Awesome.

Hellooooooo Panama ! We were the one's that shouted : "welcome back!" at the airport in David as you guys drove out. My husband was on your plane. Like you, he was ever so happy to be BACK HOME here. 15 years here now and this is by far what we consider home. Panama is chock full of the sweetest people on earth !! This month is their month of patriotic celebration. It's their national July 4th kinda month. Panama can put aside all political negativity and no matter what side you are on, CELEBRATE. their country. It's wet and it's cold.....but the warmth of the people make up for it BIG TIME.
WELCOME HOME to Panama. ( Bill my husband bought a bag of Cuban coffee in Florida.....it was so bad he tossed it out. ) Stick with winners: Panama, it's people and THE BEST coffee in the world.
    Sending love........WELCOME BACK

I always wonder what skills and ‘muscle memory’ Sadie is developing by just watching you all do things so closely. It reminds me of when you see villagers who wear babies in their culture and a toddler knows how to use a big knife to help prepare food. Not only that but she will be bilingual, bicultural and probably the coolest human ever made. 😎

I've been in the restaurant industry 35 years. When people ask me for advice on opening a food related business, my advice is "Run away! Don't walk. Don't hesitate. Run!" There's so much bureaucracy and red tape and headache involved in opening a place, that most people throw their hands up before they ever start. I opened a lot of new places and the rule was always "set an opening date, then add 2 months to it." That's because there will inevitably be a set back. Good on you guys for accepting the circumstances and rolling with it!

    Hi Kids
I am so sorry that you didn't open the US coffee shop.... you probably needed to walk away from all of it for a while. clear your heads and collect your thoughts... It will happen.
I was tearing up a little when you went home to Panama ... I know that feeling Its YOUR PLACE and sure you had help but its something you built together and its your dream I was hoping for that reaction and i am so happy for you two i mean 3 lol...
your life is special and i am so grateful that you let us share it with you. "life is a mixture of good times and bad times" and those good times are precious and even more so when you share them with others.

Maybe you were a hedge fund manager and retired rich super early. Seems challenging w/o a regular and viable revenue stream.

I have been following you for years. My comments may seem negative, but they are not meant to be negative; just the opposite. "Loving" to create a business is not enough. Having lots of supporters may help via the RUclips, but that will not make the coffee shop a success. Leaving the restaurant business, for your reasons, made sense, but you really hadn't learned or realized all that was required to run that type of business.
And what about your friends that were to be working at the coffee shop? How are they paying their bills? Are you paying them a salary to wait for all the details to be resolved? Does your RUclips pay enough to keep them solvent? And going back again to Boston costs money too.
Just some thoughts that others may be thinking, but not asking.
Big question: what makes you certain that such a USA / Vermont coffee shop can succeed? How many cups a day are required? Good luck.

Why are you going into town and buying Pizza? Didn't you put everything on hold a few months ago to build the pizza oven that you just HAD to have? Who prefers take-out pizza to home made? And Please make a business plan for your VT coffee store. That kinda stuff doesn't just 'happen'. Just the fact that you refer to your situation as a "failure" rather than a 'setback' concerns me. There's a lot invested so far including materials, $$, and people.

  • @shastahaldane
    @shastahaldane Год назад +1

Not a failure, a learning experience. You learned that there is stuff you should and should not have done when building your "house" in Panama. The coffee house is no different. Make a list of issues that need to be addressed and tackle them one at a time.

  • @KateMcCridhe

    That's not a cow.
    That's a calf.
It will be a calf for its first year of life.
After that, IF it is female (I didn't get a good look), it will be a heifer until it has its first calf.
After that it will officially be a cow.
On the other hand, if its male, it will never be a cow.
It will either be a bull, or if you... uhmmm.... neuter it, it will be a steer.
🤣 Remembering explaining that to a college buddy at 2:00 am, because of a corny joke on a 1970s comedy show, talking about a "bum steer", but it was a cow... and... then I had to explain about other gender names for livestock and the why's. Which got into why would there be a gelding... well same reason you neuter a dog... and she opined that she thought it would make them crankier... 😆

NICE, you guys got a cow! glad to hear everyone is doing so well. and the coffee shop delay is just a hiccup. when I was 4 years old my land immigrate parents that just moved to Canada with 2 kids (+ I was just born in Canada) and no business or pizza experience opened a pizza place (with little English, btw). It did amazing over the years but they sold it when they realized working 7 days a week and my 2 older sisters taking care of me, they wanted to spend more time with the family. It was a struggle but they were successful and I know you will be too, as long as you keep trying. Great work!!
