I'm using the exact setup on our Holston Hills job here in Knoxville, TN. Nice smooth set up. Very nice machine. Only thing is I loose signal from base station sometimes. Overall Very Nice productive setup.

The D5k2 is indeed a fine looking machine but what would be really nice in a 18 minute video is if the actually features were shown as he was talking about them.

This is a very interesting video and I agree that it would have been helpful to have seen an actual video of how the functions are used and activated because it is of little value to say this is what we have if you cannot see that it is easy to access and use. I operate today a Cat 745 Articulated Haul truck and I have many questions about Materials on its inboard computer system because I have noticed that it fails to load count if the materials are light in nature and let's say weigh around 5 to 8 tons for a full load then the counter will not adjust the count number also we need to have load control to designate origin and dump location for the site.
I see how many options and the impressive system uses there are on many machines across the fleet but as an operator, we are sadly left out of the loop to ad functions that we actually need like we really should have in these generations of machines push to talk functions for Pos Coms and I cannot believe that this is not universal on all machines given the are worth many hundreds of thousands of dollars to millions of dollars and only very select few have this function. The 745 I operate now is only 217 hours old and current latest models in our fleet and we still have mic systems at a low console-level so it's a dangerous situation in high volume traffic areas trying to navigate rough terrain and poor grounds conditions with Scrapers flying past at full speed and slippery conditions and we need to in an instant call for road position for blind spots or warn others that a fully loaded machine at around 80 to 85 tons is traveling at high speed towards Scrapers traveling in the opposite direction at full speed.
I see that Cat Dealers around the world are trying to show operators more of the impressive system available to them and I support this but many functions or capabilities often miss the mark on the needs of the actual Day to day operators while also missing those operators that would love to open up more of the support and functionality of the systems that they did not know were available in their current machines they are using, we need more dedicated liaison staff across the world to connect with highly skill multi-machine operators such as myself to hold conferences on what we find most useful, what you suggest is available to us and then how we can integrate these into our daily lives. I look forward to seeing if we get an answer to this.
