1949 Matchless G80 500 ( straight pipe )

This is a 1949 Matchless G80 500 rigid , iron head , i have since made a muffler and a side stand , still have to do the crank pin , an engine had been fitted with the wrong piston 1/2 down at TDC and 3mm ring gaps ! , I am amazed that it ran, i calculated the compression ratio at 4.1:1 , the pushrod tube was split , there was so much oil pouring from it it was hard to tell , but after cleaning down the lower pushrod seal and dumping some silicon around it ( Temporary) to see what other issues and leaks i had . It hadn't been run for 20+ years, i have now fitted new Devon stainless rims and spokes , still have some work to yet , this is how i got it it is slowly getting better .I think its really cool , leave a comment , about the old girl .Cheers ,
