Your welcome, I like making videos that have all the information in one video. When I first started watching youtube to learn about tropical plants, it was frustrating searching through a channel’s library to find a part 2 and 3.
I grew my canna from seed this year. I started them mid April in doors. I'm in Colorado. Will they grow a rhyzome before end of fall season? I have put so much care into them. It will hurt my heart to know I can't save them from our harsh winters. You have beautiful Canna's.
Did you scarify them? Boiling water works best for me. ruclips.net/video/cmtkB74YUBI/видео.html I have also received seeds that would not germinate, no matter what I tried.
Thanks so much for this video! I'm trying my hand at growing some from seed this year. I didn't boil or otherwise scarify my seeds. Maybe this is why it took longer for them to grow. Anyway, I have 3 little ones growing right now. I shared your video with my cousin.❤
Thank you for an excellent video, as a newbie to growing Cannas am curious to understand that when the seeds are harvested in early autumn do you scarify and germinate the seeds throughout the winter so they are established by early spring? Thank you for any advice ( am located in Uk btw)
I don’t scarify until late winter and germinate them in water right away and grow the seedlings indoors under a grow light. Then plant them in the spring.
@@Tropifornia Many thanks for swift reply much appreciated, I have subscribed to your excellent channel, how would you recommend storing the seeds over the late autumn and main part of winter ?
Thank you, I’m in California. I am using native soil and I do lots of composting to enrich the soil. This video shows how I created a lush garden. ruclips.net/video/49aP1tp7kDw/видео.html
I don't understand, In nature the seeds wound dry out, fall to the ground and germinate in the spring when the temps get warm.
Scarifying the seeds just starts the process sooner than if left to germinate on their own.
Best overview on canna yet! Seed harvest, scarification, germination, planting, division... nice! Thank you for making these.

You’re welcome, growing canna lilies from seeds is a great way to fill a garden.
Do I have to cut off the whole plant after it flowers?
No, just cut off the flower stalks.
I don't have a grow light, will my seeds keep making roots without one? Thank you for sharing! 🪻🤍
They should grow with any kind of light from sunlight to a desk lamp. Good luck!
@@TropiforniaGood to know!

Thanks for subscribing! Store the seeds in a dry area like in a small jar or paper envelope.
Beautiful garden. What location is this being grown at? Are you using straight native soil?

Don't plant them in the ground they are very invasive 😢
The rhizomes do spread underground, but they are not escaping my garden with concrete surrounding the sides of my garden.
I just soak white and brown and i would have to disagree because mine popped will be doing videos
I’ll try it, thanks.
