Put the same set on my 814ce Taylor to replace the horrible ES-1 system. Major improvement on tone. I'm very satisfied with the JJB pickup. Mine are glued in.
Nice. Yeah I’m sold on these. It’s nice to have a reasonably priced pickup that makes your guitar sound so good. I mean, before this, I would settle for one that just doesn’t make your guitar sound awful.
I've experience with this pickup but also more expensive ones from LR Baggs. LR Baggs Anthem will capture most of the guitar faithfully. JJB will pick up most of the wood and strings vibration. What's "best" depends on the goal. My goal has always been to amplify the natural character of my guitar while not dealing with feedback. The Anthem/Lyric is a workhorse that puches well above its price. The JJB might not be plug-n-play, but it has its place that justifed the $40.
Question, is this pickup as hot as the K&K pure western mini. I have it in my 000-18GE and love it but don't run it with a preamp. I should just for a bit of eq but it is a very hot pickup Sometimes I think I need a pad for it. I am thinking of a pup for my Little Martin with the spruce top, it has really grown into a nice sounding guitar, and was going for another K&K pure mini but this one you posted about has me wondering.
For myself, I like sound of B-Band ast much more and 2 years ago I could say that B-Band A2.2 is the best option - but, B-Band pickups are VERY fragile. My A2.2. system totally lost its balance within a year after installation. So, JJB seems as cheap K&K pure miny copy. WIth B-Band I could take only guitar to a gig and plug my guitar directly to line in on mixing desk, but there is a battery inside a guitar that charge must be controlled. With JJB I must use IR player to get a really nice sound - and this type of pickups works wonderful with IR.
Is there much difference in sound quality with under-bridge piezoelectrics that come with preamps? Did you try the model that comes with only two transducers?
Its honestly hard to say as the guitars they are in are different enough that I can't really directly compare them. I think they're very comparable as far as general quality goes though.
I mean, it’s a great guitar, but it’s in no way that sound. That’s a very unique acoustic tone. This one sounds more like a slightly more focused 00 or 000.
@@JackFossett I’m sorry Jack, it’s not a criticism of you. I have been looking for an “affordable” way to amplify a great quality guitar and still retain the qualities which makes that guitar sound so good. So far I have yet to here anything that doesn’t reduce the timbre of a great guitar down to that of an entry level instrument. I’m just fussy about tone.
@@phoenixsound expencive Martin sounds amasing live unplugged only. Even if you use external condencer mic and compare cool expencive guitar with fine inexpencive but well-balanced guitar recordings - you can make this recordings sounds extremely close. So, the right question is - can you make your Martrin sounds natural/cool/expencive/etc on stage with pickups? Yes, you can - you must use IRs for this. Just use Tonedexter/NUX Optima Air or some software (like MFreeformEqualizer) to create your own IRs for your favourite guitar and mic - and you will have best results possible.
@@phoenixsound your only solution is to spend a lot of money on a multi pickup combo of a mic, transducer/piezo & magnetic pickup and combine all of them into one signal that you can control through a really expensive preamp… Or just be ok with cheap
Dude, I swear you have a review on every piece of gear I ever find myself looking into.

My favorite pickup-system for acoustic is the Trance Audio Amulet. It's what I have in my Gibson Doves in Flight custom.
Will definitely be installing this on my new Orangewood Brooklyn 🙂
Another satisfied customer. I've got the 330 installed in my Taylor GS Mini with JJB's optional GS Mini jack. Huge improvement over the ES Go.

HI jack, where did you place the transducer inside your guitar is it on the bridge?
How does it compare to the very similar Journey pickup?
Installing in my FG800 tomorrow, have the K&K Mini in my Seagull S6 so we shall see.
Hey, now hoping you have installed it in your FG800, how is it. Which one you prefer in fg800 (k&k mini/jjb 330)
Have you ever tried the Journey pickup ?
Cause they are pretty good ,so I’m wondering how you compare them !
Very good demo and really nice playing. What model Martin are you playing? Thanks.
Thank you! Its a Martin 0-18

No it’s definitely lower output than the K&K

That sounds really lovely, Jack.
Thank you!
Is this going through a preamp? If so, which?

Thanks for the tip!👍😎
Do you like the JJB over the Journey instruments ?

and the journeytek .....? or barbera ?........ shadow nanoflex ...?
I’ve also reviewed the journey pickup
Why pay more? This is great, I have one on my J-45
i'm considering using this in my gypsy jazz gitane. if anyone has ab opinionid appreciate it.

It’s a sure fire way to make an expensive Martin sound like a $50 guitar.
I’m slayed by the snark!

Very sharp in high frequinses but closely in mid. Not good
I disagree but thanks for the comment!
