Thank you for this video. Disappointed to see some black females making videos about pretty privilege and blaming other races no one finds their beauty attractive. But women back in the day made it work and they are iconic.
This is so true, black women celebrated their beauty and uplifted one another as well and they went through hell but persevered. I think a lot of women now a days have some nar ciss istic tendencies and want acceptance from everyone but you have to go where you're celebrated because you can't change people who are set in their beliefs
Words cannot express how glad I am that you made this video!! The 70s is my favorite decade, and as a Black girl, it's amazing to see how our fashion, music, and overall culture worked back then and influences today's culture. I'd say my current favorite icons from this decade were Donna Summer (loved her in Thank God It's Friday, though I wish she had more screen time😒), Pam Grier, and Aretha Franklin.
This is so true, some of this generation is so disrespectful when it comes to legends and have no regard for the greats and actual REAL music and REAL talent, like you said mediocrity loves mediocrity Loved this video 💖
Shout out to All the 70's babies able to live through that era!!!I'm a 70's baby too and thank you for the much needed Recognition of Beautiful Black Women in the 70's such a fascinating and remarkable time!!!!💫💗👑 My mom was a fashionista so such so I would look forward to seeing her all made up with her her(wigs) jewelry and clothes 💗She was my Role model and image consultant lol she was and still is Beautiful ❤️ My Black is Beautiful 🖤
I really love the way you acknowledge Black women of the past. They absolutely did pave the way and deserve to be recognized and respected. It's rare to hear a young person speak about this. I appreciate your channel. The work you're doing here is inspiring. Thank you.
Whew yes speak about it! jealousy is so strong in some people and they get so angry when they compete but won't ever compare, so they have to attack the smallest things. Legends and their legacy won't fade but the mediocre talent and gimmicks will.
Hey girl, I forgot to mention would you ever do a video on Myra Monkhouse from Family Matters?? To me, she was an underrated diva who deserves her flowers. RIP Michelle Thomas ❤️
Omg I finally caught this video and I am so excited!!! I love how you added Phyllis Hyman as your opening credits ❤️❤️. Pam Grier, Donna Summer, Brenda Sykes, Tamara Dobson, among other Black women were the epitome of Black beauty in the 70s ❤️❤️❤️. Jet and Ebony Magazine girlies!!
I am 53 years old, was heavy into the rave culture of the early 90's which was a complete spin off of the 70s funk scene. All the girls in the scene imitated these women in style, dance and hair makeup!
All of the black beauties of the 70s is my inspiration. I’m a 90s baby but the 70s hairstyles will NEVER get old to me. I love big hair, voluminous curls and layers and layers of hair. They had 40in bussdowns in the 70s and girls think they doing something new now. Even the styles we repeat. Bell bottom pants, crop tops and halter dresses are a staple in regular clothing pieces. I need to get into watching more Blcksploitation movies 😅
YEEESSSS TAMARA DOBSON AKA CLEOPATRA JONES IS my ultimate style inspiration being that I love vintage clothes particularly of the late 60s, 70s and early 80s and dated / classic clothes along with retro clothes so not only do I collect Blaxploitation movies but these movies have been my inspiration. On a side note, my aunt LOVES Diana Ross because for her, she is the epitome of glamour and femininity.
This was when my mom was in her 20s back in the 70s. I saw the way black women in fashion and beauty example for us young women in the80s 90s and 2000s in the next generation of 2010 and 2020 deacade . I thank them beauty always define us through those deacades. Too bad I missed out on the 70s . It was a great deacade
These women are so beautiful! My goodness, the class and elegance I love it! You always outdo yourself with these videos 💓💓💓 they just get better and better. I haven’t heard of a few of these women so I’m happy you did this video and Thankyou for including movie titles… it looks like I have some movies to watch lol
Wow so many beauties who I had never heard of, thank you for making this video and highlighting black beauty in the 70s as well as some of the women who weren't as big as Diana Ross and Donna Summer. You're really one of the best and most underrated channels here on youtube 😊
I used to try to get my hair to look like the women I saw on TV only to realize that a lot of those styles were wigs. I stopped trying after that and wore my hair the way I wanted... slicked back and up!😶🌫️
This video is fabolousssssss. every time you upload I have new things to shop for lol; these women were stunning and so classy. I love Diahann Carroll I especially loved her in Dynasty she would give Alexis the business lol
I appreciate the work you put into the research and editing! I looooooove this period of style, eauty, and music so much. The glamour was just amazing. I appreciate your musing about the critique of Black women and mediocrity...so so true (working twice as hard to get half as much and still being amazing). When you come out with part 2, I'll be there!
Yes I had so many women written down and totally forgot to include the iconic Grace Jones and few others😩 However I am doing a video breakdown on her soon and part 2 to this video as well 🩷
Fun fact: I LOVE 90s fashion however…my version of “90s” fashion is actually 70s aesthetic which kind of makes me sad. Yes I loved their aesthetic as well but as a recent 27y/o black woman, I worry it ages me. I wear my natural hair out in wash-n-gos and blow dried pin curled blow outs and EVERYTIME I get compliments and ppl always tell me I give them 70s vibes so idk lol. Anyone else run into this?
70S BLACK BEAUTY IS MY INSPO
@@TheMaryLoo mine too!! I love everything about this!!
I love how their hair were either afro or mimicking blowout 4c and not straight like today.

Black men have used the hell out of the word females, let it just be women please.
Black folks’ sex appeal was off the chart in the 70s! Like out of control lol.
