Air drumming Incubus got me into drums!
Jose always does such a great job serving the song with his playing. He can flex and be funky but it always lines up with what's going on around him. He's seriously inspired my playing over the years and how to make the drums blend into the band instead of just thrashing.

When I dealt at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. I dealt to him a few times (21 table) a very nice gentleman. I asked him what he did for a living making small talk. He told me he was a musician from the LA area played drums. So I asked what the name of his band was. He told me Incubus I was laughing inside. Cuz I love their music. So keep up the good work. Lol

This song one of if not the best off of their whole discography
Just sounds so impressive as home performance. Pure California roots! The whole spirit of there personified into this album. It's like breathing fresh air, swimming in the ocean.
In high school, I absolutely LOVED that verse groove (still do). I remember hearing it, going “whoa...” then rewinding it several times to get the count and patterns...realizing it was the same 6+8 as the intro with some killer snare work. Great stuff, Jose ✌️

Do you still have any of your old Orange County drum kits? I used to build my dream kit on their old old old website (I’m 38) all the time and never attained the financial status to order one. Does anyone know the time signature of the song? I keep hearing 4/4 and 7/8 as the verse and 6/4 in the chorus.
Chorus/main riff and verse is a bar of 6 then one of 8, extra few beats at the end of every second bar. Or bars of 3 and 4 depending on how you count it. I believe that would be 7/4 cus It's 7 of the whole beats, it's not really being broken up into 7 half beat phrases. The bridge and calmer section are straight 4/4
