The Klondike gold rush national historical park sent us a machine to restore for them a while back. This is the video of us using the restored machine to make strawberry candy off some rollers of theirs. Хобби
The museum should use it to make and sell candy so that it's not just sitting there unused. Those strawberries look REALLY delicious!
actually they should commission a reproduction of it to use to make candy that way this one can be preserved as a piece of history.
I made them some using fimo, so it was part of what I did for them.
your microphone so damn clear and crisp
Kanye West thank you Kanye, very cool
😂
I’m from Alaska, and this gives me just an extra bit of Alaskan pride. I’ve always wanted to visit you guys, keep up the great work!
These videos weren't what i was lookin for on youtube but im glad i stumbled across them. Theyre very wholesome and relaxing. Great job
How are those hard candies with the liquid inside made? You know, those little strawberry candies that you can never find, but your grandma always seems to just have
Sort of. The put the filling inside a wrap of hard candy and then put it though the press. Hard to do without making a huge mess.
Lofty Pursuits I can imagine! Sounds like a lot of work to make them
+Chris my grandpa used to have them
Strawberry bonbons?
0:23 What an artistically captured reflection.
I love Skagway! I used to live in Whitehorse, Yukon (Canada), and it’s a really lovely day trip from there. The White Pass train is a must!!
This strawberry candy finally pushed me over the edge to buy some of your candies 😍 I can't wait!
I just discovered this channel from my newsfeed which surprise me because I don't really watch candy related videos at all. But man, new subscriber! Lovin your conteng! Been binge watching for hours noa
The restoration turned out amazing! Just, wow. It looked beyond help, but it came out wonderfully.
Unrelated, but every time I watch your videos I can always imagine you narrating children's audiobooks! You have the perfect calm and soothing voice for it.
Been watching these Videos for a While now and theyre pretty much the same Thing over and over again
And I still watch it. I love how the Hot Sugar behaves, Its so nice to look at. Your Voice and the Stuff you talk about is nice to listen to.
Your Videos are just nice. Over and over again C:
That is so neat! I remember when you we're talking about that during the other restoration videos that you posted here, and I'm glad that you got a (brief) chance to try out a set of strawberry rollers.
I never comment, I usually just watch in amazement. But I have to say you did an absolutely outstanding job on restoring that small piece of history. The stories that one machine hold, have to be astonishing. Kudos for being so tentative to making it shine again.
You did an excellent job restoring that Greg. You are a miracle worker! I'm sure the museum will appreciate the work you put into this project, we sure do.
I Love your sight so simple which is what makes it so enjoyable to watch.
I love watching these videos. Your voice is nice and watching hard candies being made is more satisfying than I thought possible.
Awesome Greg! So glad you got to play with this piece of history!
I love that your videos are not only candy making, but also a little history lesson as well
Really love your videos! Love how passionate you are when you are explaining stuff!
Sweet!! I love seeing historical items restored and put back to use.
I love the history this channel brings to light. I'd love to see some rollers made by a viewer, that'd be amazing.
So cool! What an awesome project, and great job on the restoration!
Your strawberry flavor is amazing! WAY better than anything I've had elsewhere. I like how you showed some footage of the restoration process; it would be cool to see you make an episode about that.
heh... please "drop" by
Go see a therapist right now I don't give a god damn Frick who you are go see a god be damned therapist RIGHT NOW!!
xD
This was so cool! I love little cool finds like this, thanks for restoring history
Damus Ravenwood sheika
Don’t know if I spelled it right
I’m so glad we got a bag before you sold out they were so delicious And fun. It’s like eating history
My candy just arrived in the mail. So yummy thanks a bunch.
I really like your videos and how you tell the history of candy making is much more interesting than any history class at school
Awesome restoration! Glad they got one more use before going on display!
What a beautiful machine! Love the strawberry molds.
Yay! I've been waiting for this update.
I love your videos!! I hope you have a great day! Thank you for making these videos!!
So pleasing to the eye to watch this candy processed.
Thank you Greg, for giving my tastebuds life! Alaska Strawberry and Old Glory, frickin delicious!
Bought three bags of your 4th of July candies the other week! They’re delicious!
Wow.... it is indeed like magic! Yet another great interesting, and educational video.
What a wonderful restoration job, well done! Such a pity you couldn't keep the strawberry roller. I hope you find one in the future.
That machine, it belongs in a museum!
Hello, thanks for the video. I have purchased your candy. We loved it and will purchase again.
These videos are brilliant, thank you for making them!
Glad to.
This makes me want to be a confectioner
Great job on the resto.
Rolling the soft sugar into the strawberry shaped drops look so satisfying
I love your videos. I wish you'd make more.
I love Skagway, I didn't see this when I was there last, but I'll look next summer. But there is one road into Skagway you just have to drive thru Canada, everyone usually just flies or takes the ferry
Its amazing how much history you can learn from candy
Thanks for the update!
Greetings from Skagway! I'll have to check out our museum now and see if I can find this piece :-p
Great work. It looks just like new.
I would totally check you guys out but I don’t wanna ho to Florida just to see you guys. If I ever get another reason see you there
This looks so good
That looks SOOO GOOD
It would be amazing if the museum could bring in professional confectioners once or twice a year for demonstrations, having someone make candy in front of you is pure magic!
Museum's represent stagnation more than preservation, it would've been better to leave the tools with lofty pursuits.
His voice is so soothing omg
Tasty, tasty history. The very best kind!
I love seeing old machines put back to work. I'm a little sad that this one is going to collect dust instead of being used though.
damn watching candy being made is so satisfying but also maddening because i want some now
They look delectable
I have a batch of these, they're delicious!
That was so neat to watch🌻
My relatives were gold miners in those exact years and they ran the railway office also. Guessing they ate strawberry candy from this machine because one of them ran the general store in Skagway.
Skagway is hard to get to, I would have to drive into Canada then back into Alaska to get there lol
Great video! Would love to see how sherbet pips are made!
i wonder if you can glass blow candy °_ °
Actually, in China there's a lot of street markets where you can see someone blow a syrupy solution and turn it into a hollow version of an animal. It's very cool, there's a bunch of videos you can look up if you want to see
Watching these is like visual asmr
wow I was just in that town a few months ago would have loved to see it then
Amazing!! Keep up the good contents.
This is amazing
Y is this more satisfying than satisfying videos
Have you ever done jack fruit candy, if there's such a thing? Wriggles yellow gum is jack fruit flavored.
You sound like the sweetest person (pun intended)
Hey, thanks for sharing!
Amazing😮
wait you held onto that machine for that long
Didn't know about the 'drop' bit nice to know :))
Yay a new video
I'm literally at work watching another man work
I hope you made a mold out of those strawberry rollers so you can get one cast for yourself!
As awesome as it was that you got to make the candies with the rollers I think you should've made a batch or two for the museum, for the people there running it as well as for them to display with the machine.
I’m from Alaska! Hello from Anchorpoint ^_^
TBH This is the one time I don’t think something belongs in a museum, it should be in Greg’s arsenal that way they can be appreciated and can make people happy not only by admiration but by the candy it produces. And what good are candy makers if they cant make candy?
GREG! you have to open a location at the town center in Jacksonville FL! Please anywhere in Jax!
I'm impressed
MY FIRST WATCH VIDEO EVER LOVE IT!!!
I just ordered some! I can wait to eat them!
Interesting, most people cannot wait for it.
Bwahaha I meant can't* !
Were they good?
@@Pyovali I'm not her but tbh you can only eat them if you have a good strong set of teeth cause I broke a tooth while I was chewing on one of them and I was very painful like extremely painful thankfully I got my tooth fixed but i would never chew on these candy's again
Ryder you are not supposed to chew them
I wish I can go to lofty persuits irl, but it"s sooo far away
Wow!
I like gow greg is like the most stereotypical cartoon candy maker (not meant to be offensive) the hair the voice the way he talks and that he's a little big :)
It's a curse to be so candy cool.
Lofty Pursuits hahaha :)
You could use a machinist to make those missing parts. It wouldn't be the original parts, but it would let the machine be capable of working again. I wonder, like others, if it would be possible to design new working rollers.
Yes, the museum did not want that.
very late for this but great restoration!
Quick question, How much is it to get custom candies? I want to get a few bags of the eagle scout patch for my eagle scout celebration pretty much, I cant remember the name of the ceremony. But besides that, your candy looks and I bet tastes great! keep up the good work!!!
Amazing ❤️
You should try a honey/mint candy, kinda like a coff drop
Very interesting
Ok i need to stop watching these at 3am...
I watch these videos 90% because of your voice
I wish there was a way to like a video twice or super like it or something lol
there was an episode you showed off your assortment of drop rollers and i saw one that looked like it had rabbits and other creatures, could you show them off even as a our collection than a crafting video?
What happens with all the dust and bits that are left after the candy is dropped? The stuff that's between the drops. Can candy be boiled down again or would that burn the sugar?
One day I'll buy some of your candy.... One day...
