My dad (yes, my dad) use to fly in the early days of aviation. These arrows were very important to him. At the end of WW1, he was a flight instructor at the Presidio in San Francisco. His C.O. was 'Hap' Arnold. After his discharge in 1920, and a stint as the head of the 'air force' in El Salvador, he flew early airmail in the mid to late 20s (Jenny's)... first Detroit/Chicago, via stops throughout Michigan. Then, up/down the west coast (Ryans, Junkers, Fokkers), Seattle/San Fran and Sacramento/San Fran/San Diego. Made three jumps due to engine failure/out of gas, and two crashes, both of which he (obviously) survived. Then, early passenger/freight (TriMotors) in the Midwest and the West Coast. Early ALPA member, 3-time qualifier of Caterpillar Club, and one of the earliest 'Quiet Birdmen'. Also, believed to be one of the first IFR instructors. He finished his career as the chief pilot for the old AutoLite Co., in Toledo, Ohio. Of course, all this happened long before I was around. He was 20 years older than my mother, and I was last of three to be born. He passed in the late '50s. His close and longtime friend, Bill Lear, delivered his eulogy. He called him a pilot's pilot, and probably one of the most important aviators you never heard of. I’m thrilled to see so much interest in the golden age of aviation that my dad was a part of. Too many things get passed up in the supersonic world of today.
WOW!!!!!!!! Sounds like a movie...

I can vividly remember still seeing some of those arrows from my grandpas plane when I was a kid back in the late sixties and early seventies. He even pointed them out and told this very story about them. I had not recalled those memories until just now watching this video. Over fifty years of hidden memories rushing forward. Wow!
I love how you're becoming self-aware of your amazing ad transitions 😂 "you know what else is a good deal?.... Oh wait it's not time yet "😂
It is a bane to his content. ruclips.net/video/XV4RG5Y8G2s/видео.html watch that if you care.
I don't want the ads banned but maybe he should separate the adverts from his content. You know he breaks RUclips guidelines because he doesn't even say he is being sponsored. So I want him to say thanks for watching or something before getting into an ad. So we can separate the content from things he has been paid to say.
^ Damn, this guy really cries when he gets free, amazing content... Can't press a fast forward button or skip :'(
@@timothyhilditch do you need your mummy to tell you when you’re watching an ad? The change in content is so drastic it’s obvious

This was actually a really cool and interesting video. Fun fact: there is an arrow in Lake Point, Utah which still has the remains of the beacon tower lying right next to it.
4:00
I think that's the first arrow I ever found! It's in St George, Utah and has a plaque (it looks like a gravestone imo) that gives some info about the aviation arrows. The plaque starts off "Utah Is Rich In Aviation History" and has a picture of an old airplane. Super cool!
There are 3 or 4 others in the area, and around a dozen or two in the state.

Ran across one of these arrows just west of Salt Lake City. Got a little lost driving on back roads beside I-80 and found myself on top of a mountain. I was really confused by the giant concrete pad I drove onto until I realized it was one of these arrows. Its honestly a bit cool to encounter these in the wild.

"juice has just as much sugar in it as soda"
True, but it's not always the same kind of sugar
While a lot of juices contain processed sugars (and also are usually only 20% juice, so really it isn't juice at all) a lot also tend to contain unprocessed sugars
While too much of any kind of sugar is bad for you, unprocessed sugars are broken down differently by the body and contain less empty calories (less _empty_ calories, an important distinction to remember)

“Two people flied.”
I believe you incorrectly conjugated the verb “fly.” From my understanding, the correct past tense conjugation is “flew.” Only when in reference to baseball is “flied” a viable conjugation of “fly.”
Regardless, I appreciate your video.
Trains are slow.... proceeds to show Amtrak..... the feels man
doubleutubefan5 he made a video on his other channel Cekidot
Retro North Rail Lines that’s incredibly slow by modern train standard
@Retro North Rail Lines still well behind Europe and Asia trains
Retro North Rail Lines Takes me 9 hours to go what takes 6 hours by car. And that's with LA car traffic
As someone from Illinois, your ending was amazing
Slightly Texan Kansan here. Can confirm that midwesterners and southerners dislike California.
You guys best hope that not too many more Californians flee the state, as a lot of them bring their voting habits with them. However, most of the people leaving from my part of CA (Orange County) tend to vote conservative.
Am Californian. Many of us also dislike California.
Am Californian, love this state. Great and wondrous natural beauty, some amazing people, and better-than-many states' rail systems :) other states are awesome too though!
Miles, Illinois is also big. I wouldn't live in California because it is too fake lol. Liberal, but they have car-centric cities causing so much pollution in the Southern part of their state. If they really cared about the environment, they would greatly increase the mass transit in LA and San Diego.

"...because two people FLEW..."
"Flied"....really? REALLY?
both
Falled.
Hearing that was so jarring that I had to seek out this comment.
lohphat fun fact: he was actually grammatically correct
In contexts other than baseball (and baby talk), the principal parts of the verb to fly are
fly flew (have) flown
The bird flew the coop.
The hunter flew the hawk at a pigeon.
Charlie has flown his kite into the kite-eating tree again.
The honeymooners flew to Paris in the springtime.
We have flown with American five times.
In baseball, however, flied becomes valid usage.
A fly or a fly ball is a baseball hit into the air.

The arrow at 4:03 St. George Utah. There are 4 in the city/surrounding areas.. NONE of the maps he shows go through my city. They only show the Salt lake city route. Also Bunkerville NV, which he mentions, isn't in any of the maps he shows. Clearly there is a southern route not mentioned
There are many other routes, there is an arro on the side of a mountain the points to and is labeled Phoenix.
