Hey I’ve got some pulling magic, pre-release set... pulled a demonic tutor, few days later I buy a keldhem collectors booster get and pull the Vorn with the alt text in foil.
Thanks for that. 44 Japanese cards in 2 boxes. So the collector box is the only way to get these unless you get Japanese draft or set boosters, then there is a 50% chance for the alt art. So on a whole I think these are a little less rare then what a foil rare use to be back in the day, but the rare and mythic ones might be as rare as a foil rare from before War of the Spark days.
While this list is awesome and good on you for doing it, the gods willing at the end of the list doesn't line up with the video. The timestamp shows English claim the firstborn, maybe just one or two seconds further and it would be on point.

Not as spicy as my two Time Warp JP alt art pulls, but pretty good boxes. For the record, you only buy these boxes for the MA pulls; Strixhaven as a set is straight trash. That Lilly pull was the best from the set at $40 in foil lol. Literally sold one this morning for that much.
I think the subtlety of the etching is appropriate. The traditional Japanese ways are about subtlety and opposed to gaudiness . I really like the nuance that everyone else seems to be missing.
So since I started in 2013, my introduction to Teferi was Teferi’s Protection from C17, which BTW Rudy was what you opened at the end of box 1. And yes it’s a white card as he’s either UW or U. :)
I think this set will age particularly well for the simple reason it has so many pulls that are staples in eternal formats. That has to be a bonus longterm in terms of box value, no matter how many cards of the set will make it into these formats
I have to agree that faithless looting and the other card by the same artists are a little too abstract to fit with the rest of the cards in that set. Love the dragon pulls. stay safe everyone and keep spreading the magic.
Lesson is a good idea to do something with the sideboard when everyone is playing best-of-1 on MtG:A. Also makes draft&sealed more interesting. I like the slight etching. Wouldn't want anything where the card gets significantly thicker to a point where it starts sticking out from a pile of Magic cards. (Although I have a feeling it's that way because otherwise it would cost more than 0.2 cents to get the card printed.)

Hey somebody in Rudy's chat?? I was wondering if I were to start buying magic cards for my son where would be a great place to start? He plays yugioh and pokemon and I never really got into magic as a kid but seeing as hes into the cards I thought it would be a neat idea if we both shared something new together. Anything helps
Commander is always a good place to start, because the format is very popular and doesn't restrict players in terms of what era or sets of magic they can choose cards from. The starter preconstructed commander decks that are sold in stores are balanced to compete with the other preconstructed decks, so while they are not overly powerful right out of the gate, they are a good entry point into the format and can be upgraded over time as a person's collection grows. Hopefully that helps. Some of the recent preconstructed decks have quite a bit to offer in terms of overall value, but I would suggest reading more if you're interested in all that. Good luck, and have fun.
Take Zero Enth's advice about what to do with purchasing cards for the first time. My advice for learning the game is to play Magic Arena. While I do not like the client for actually playing the game, it is a great way to learn the game by simply completing the tutorial. It will give you enough cards to play right away, but the deck will be super weak compared to anyone spending money on the game (don't do this). You could however, do direct matches with your son if you both have a PC, so your card pools will be around the same strength and you could both learn the game a bit by playing against each other. Once you get some experience under your belt with 60 card magic, learning and understanding the Commander format (the format Zero Enth mentioned) will be much easier than jumping right in.
I would suggest never buying sealed products ever. Teaches bad habits. And don't spend any money on arena or other online platforms. Best thing to do is to set yourself a modest budget and purchase singles for a commander deck or get a prebuilt starter deck on ebay. Commander is a multiplayer format that is fun to play. Then you can upgrade your deck over time at your leisure as you learn more about how the game works. Buying singles is almost always a good investment, especially a few months after release.

Regular foils seem to carry the highest premium because you aren't guaranteed one in a pack. At least for some cards. For some the base non foil is the most expensive because they're only in normal packs. Not collector.

I'm curious if Rudy and any other sellers are seeing dips in their sales because Strixhaven is competing with other Wizards products. I wonder how well this set would have done if it didn't come out at the same time as the yearly commander set and a beefy secret lair. Myself, I'm jumping on the secret lair right now and saving Strixhaven and the commander set for later.
The Japanese OCG cards in literally EVERY card games (Pokémon, YuGiOh, Magic) put anything the US/Europe to shame. We get higher priced items, with worse pulls, worse card quality, and worse artwork which just sucks and shows how they consider the US/Europe markets. They aren’t in it to give us quality, they are only worried about money.

It's not a mere one site glitch, as I have leant to check them all b4 buying. Best this Timmy can do Rudy.
