Thank you for what you do. I'm a foster and adopt mom and all my babies that have come to me were drug exposed and 2 born drug addicted.

Hello i was wondering if you had any techniques to help these babies

aleyda v hello. Swaddling my babies has been very helpful. Also, wearing them with a wrap carrier helped regulate them and helped with bonding. Depending on the baby, they may like swings. For my first son, the only way he would sleep for the first 6 months of his life was in a reclining baby swing that went back and forth.

God Bless that woman... she’s so gentle and calm, those babies are lucky to have someone care enough to volunteer their time to help them through this horrible withdrawal ....I believe in second chances but these selfish Mothers need to do the right thing & seek treatment. It’s a shame that they take for granted what some women hope & pray for, what some pay tens of thousands of dollars for.: the PRIVILEGE to be a Mother. 👼😪 GOD BLESS & heal these innocent ANGELS .

Laura Landando hi, I by no means want you to take this comment in a negitive way. The treatment for mothers addicted to any substance even one that may be prescribed to them that was taken correctly is subutex or soboxne. You can't simply stop and go through withdraws while pregnant because it causes you to either miscarry or go into labor Its not even a maybe it will happen. The subutex or soboxne that is given to the mothers will still make the baby go through withdraws when it is born. The argument could be made that the mom shouldn't have gotten pregnant but if the woman got pregnant the only option after that point is to be put on a medication or to lose your baby. A lot of times its not strung out druggies that have this problem but a working woman who may have been pit on pain medication for an accident and took her medication as prescribed but now finds that she gets very sick without it. Its all a very sad problem but its not always bad women who are having babies born addicted to a medication especially if she is in treatment and was told that was the best and only option for her child. I hope this helps you to understand a little more.

Irishred Jackson I agree with you!!! Read my comment below to the original commenter, I went through it. I'm going through it and I'm damn proud of myself.

Laura Landando I am a DAMN good mom. I quit the drugs and was prescribed Subutex. If I had stopped the Subutex while pregnant it could have killed my baby!! I did the right thing. I seeked help. And although my baby is in children's in withdrawl (she is better and gets to come home in three days!!) All the doctors agreed I did the right thing. So stop judging. You don't know. I'm not a druggie. I got clean for my baby!!! I would rather have a baby who is uncomfortable for a few days than a dead one. I actually got on Subutex a year before getting pregnant so I've been clean a while. Did you know a baby can withdrawl from caffiene? Antidepressants? Many other drugs. Do some research before judging other moms

Kayla Stephens I am also going through the same I just left that part out in fear that she might disregard my comment if I shared that. I am currently 7 months pregnant and on soboxne. I have other children who are older but with them I wasnt on anything at all and I'm ashamed to say I was a misinformed and judgy until it happened to me. You should be so proud of yourself and don't let anyone make you feel any different. I originally came to this video after a nurse at my doctors office made me cry after making some nasty comments about me being on my medication. You did what was best for your baby just like a mother who has high blood pressure or a mental illness and has to keep taking their medication because the benefits out way the risk. We are not junkies like so many would like to believe we are good mothers trying our best for our baby. Big hugs to you I know it's an emotional time right now I'm scared to death for when its my turn.

Irishred Jackson Just know your baby will be taken care of!! You said you were on Suboxone? I have suggest switching to fhe Subutex. It's the same thing just without the naloxone. I actually like it better! Subutex is WAY better. Suboxone is more dangerous for pregnancy. What dose are you on? I'm down to only 3mg. We weaned me down to the safest dose possible thinking baby would be okay. But little princess appears to be sensitive. Theirs some moms who are much higher doses than i was whose babies came out completely healthy, no withdrawl! You may get lucky. I do suggest cutting down if you haven't already but DO NOT quit because it's dangerous. You got this girl. Fuck those who judge when they don't know shit.
Also, not important, but this is the hospital my baby is at, they are as wonderful as the video portrays them. They take very good care of babies. Eveey time I call some nurse is cuddling her lol

So incredible sad. These women should go to jail and have these babies taken away from them. They know exactly what they are doing and yet do not get help. Just another form of child abuse.

It's advised for women struggling with opiod addiction be placed on Buphrenorphine or Methadone. Any doctor advises the women to not just quit due to the distress which could cause a miscarriage or premature birth. A lot of doctors are understanding and the goal is to keep the woman out of distress all while trying to do the best for the baby.
If you blame the women blame the doctors too because they're the one advising the women to be placed on a substitute drug to help with their addiction. Yes it's awful that the babies face withdrawals but pregnancy doesn't cure addiction. It's better to get educated than to call these women child abusers, now if they continue on hard drugs instead of supplements and don't get help from a clinic than yes but I've known good mothers who got pregnant and struggled with addiction, got help and was placed on substitutes and even though their baby withdrawal - they did a better job than some of the sober women I've known.
