Can we get 5000 subscribers with no videos? This is a glider not a plane. You need to be significantly older to fly a powered aircraft. A glider is towed, usually by a Cessna, and then the cable is disconnected mid flight to let the glider just glide. It has no power if its own
John McNamar. These gliders are also called sailplanes - for a reason. Once released they can ascent several miles, travel hundreds of miles while staying aloft half a day. All this without a motor - and that is what I would actually call 'flying'. For a glider pilot relying on engine to stay aloft is 'forced flying' ;)

Aefexz Evasivs you need at least a year of training to solo a glider. Legally, there’s no minimum age to start. If the pilot is a minor, the flight school and guardians must both consent to his training and eventually solo flight. As for powered airplanes, there’s no minimum age to start training as well, but the minimum age for a solo is 16-18 depending on your state and country (even 15 in some places.).
You could tell this kid was scared to death doing this. The way he had a death grip with both hands on the stick, the way his arm was shaking when he disconnected from the plane, and the vacant look on his face. In spite of all that, he handled it like a pro. Nice going man!

Why are you so surprised? Aviators have a brain in their head, unlike idiots on the road who can't drive a frigging car. Plus, you have to be 16 or older (depends where you live) to get a license to fly a plane, but before that you can fly solo with instructors approval within a certain radius of where you took off from.

Gliders can only hover downwards while planes have a engine that can make it go wherever you want it to go. 0:47 is a good example to tell what is what. WATCH HOW THE GLIDER GETS PULLED WITH THE PLANE. WHY? BECAUSE PLANES CAN GO WEREVER THEY WANT TO GO AND GLIDERS NOT

crashed and killed himself. Duration record flights are not allowed because a glider with ridges or mountains can stay aloft as long as the wind is blowing. Months aloft technically possible.
Altitude records are set above 35,000 ft. Distance records over 1100 miles.

paul janssens a 14 yo can do a lot more than that. I don't know why everyone are surprised ... Pilot a glider is simple. Fly alone in one at 14 is "normal". It's very good and the start of a new vision of the World but it's not exceptionnal.

If you haven't flown an aircraft that gives no second chances when landing, no 'oops, let's try that again' and go around, then you have no idea what this young man just achieved. That will give him confidence for the rest of his life. The last lad I saw flying with such skill at that age is now a Captain flying 747's. If I were his dad I would have been nervous as hell, but so proud. Well done, from another glider pilot.

Its pretty easy, only about 5-10hours of flight time required. I am 15 and need 4 more hours to fly solo, gliders are a lot easier then they look.

Aefexz Evasivs you need at least a year of training to solo a glider. Legally, there’s no minimum age to start. If the pilot is a minor, the flight school and guardians must both consent to his training and eventually solo flight. As for powered airplanes, there’s no minimum age to start training as well, but the minimum age for a solo is 16-18 depending on your state and country (even 15 in some places.).

I'm a time traveler and I fought in WWII in P-51D Mustang fighters and I have shot down 12 Nazi Air Force planes before I was teleported here(2020) after I was shot down by a German FW-TA 152 fighter over Berlin and crashed. Hopefully I'll get back to the War and shoot down some more German planes.
