Just finished an 7 day passage that was supposed to be 2 days of up wind and 5 days of down wind. We had 5 days of up wind and 2 days of down wind. Some of us are just destined to be upwind sailors! Catching up on your travels now that we are at the dock. You are doing great. Passage making takes practice and all we can do is take it one day at a time. Hope you are enjoying the Marquesses.
Thank you so much for the comment! Passage making does take practice. I thought I was good with an 11 day passage under our belt but come day 21, I just hit a mental wall. There’s a reason not a lot of people do this - it’s hard mentally and physically. I’m just glad we pushed through because the Marquesas are ANAZING!
I love that you watch Kara and Nate! I've been watching them since 2018 (before we went to Rome). I also watch Kinging It, Raya and Louis, Eamon & Bec. ❤.
Y’all are now living in Spain? My how we both have come so far from Nocatee!!! Whoever would have thought that we would be where we are today!!! I was just thinking back when I first started telling people (other than our little family) our crazy dreams. You were one of the first people that I opened up and told and your response was so positive and excited. It really opened the door for me to share openly with others. Our paths crossed for a reason and I’m so happy that God allowed ours to cross. Stay in touch and you never know we may end up in the same place somewhere out in the world. So good to hear from you!!! Many blessings on your adventures!!
First, so amazed by the courage it takes to do this! Second, would love a systems/process recap video when you are safely in paradise. How did solar, water, starlink, black water etc handle the passage. How was cooking, cleaning and entertainment. Lessons learned, things you would change. That sort of thing. And thank you for risking life and limb to bring us along on the journey!
He’s pretty amazing. You shouldn’t be out here if you don’t have faith in your crew. Thanks for the ideas. You may see a lot of that in the next 3 episodes but yes we plan on doing a wrap up video. SO many lessons learned but hey, day 29 and we are still alive and 700nm from Hiva Oa😀
I just love Davis!! (Bamboozled) Davis reminds me of my kids when they were his age. Every weekend, I look forward to Sunday so I can watch your videos. Thank you for sharing your journey with all of us ❤❤❤
I am sure the rudder post thing is all researched by now. If not look up my extensive post on the rudder post/JP3 bearings etc. S/v Truly Amazing. The bottom line is the lower bearing is more than likely sticking which is turning the lower bearing housing which is putting pressure on the housing the fiberglass tube is attached to. This causes linking at the base of the housing holding the rudder tube. Order you parts from International Parts they have your boat model already in the parts page. I would recommend getting lower and upper bearing for both rudders, lower housing and assorted spacers for both rudders. I would also order a spare rudder tube. I have done this twice. One tip I got from the forum was to put marine lubricant into the rudder tube to help prevent this. Many people have put zerk fitting on the tube so you can add a little once a quarter. Since I have done that I have not had the same issues. But like a said you more than likely have figured all this out.. Cheers
Rob has talked to several from the L45 hive. Our buddy boat SV Warrior already repaired both of his and one is leaking currently. Thanks for the detailed info!!! Seriously appreciate the time you took to write that important info!!! Looking to haul out in Australia this isn’t an emergent issue as long as we monitor them. Thanks for the international parts place. We just need to decide where to ship everything. I also finally won the debate and will be getting Maxprops too😃
Hope the passage goes well. Looking to the solitude would be scary, but I hope to experience it someday. The excitement of completing the passage should be worth it! Donate for a Dream
Without giving away the details of the passage, you should make a 30 second teaser video when you are safely across so we know you made it. Obviously posting this video means you are still alive and by easy math, you are approaching day 29 of your trip so you are already there by now or almost there by now!
@@burrows10011on a Facebook sailing post yesterday Rob posted they are 900 nm out still with a broken parasailor. If that was yesterday’s time left, I would assume they have a bit more to go. Hopefully they stopped at GI to get a bit more fuel. I am sure Davis is getting bored to death, as I know my 14 year old would be lol!
If you get bored, would you do a video explaining your plan for this whole adventure? Biggest lessons learned, and what skills you recommend for people wanting to do this and how far in advance you should start learning the skill?
We’ve tried to make a sit down video multiple times on multiple days but it’s a lot more challenging in the middle of an ocean. Will put it on our list once we are settled in an anchorage😊
Did you just call Papeete “pa-pete “ 😂 Come on my sailing crew, i know you can pronounce things better! LOL. But i joke and tease you a bit. Good job overall on your progress! Hope you can turn those engines off for a week or two!
So what was the reason for not going to Galapagos? Was it due to the negative experience zatara had? I guess we won’t hear from you in a month? Or will you upload via starlink? I know this seems like a stupid question given you’re already underway and I’m watching this.

All my faves too!! My daughter introduced me to them on our first sailboat in 2018 when we sailed from St. Pete Fl around the keys to Miami😊
Absolutely love watching you cross the ocean, so glad you were able to film each day! Looking forward to seeing what’s next in these episodes!
Thank you very much for watching!
Hey Shannon! Cheering for you all ❤ just joined RUclips - love seeing us both live out the dreams that we talked about for so long!

It’s been a very long month with lots of boring sprinkled with exciting moments. Cannot wait to arrive in FP!
Love you guys, safe travels. ⛵️❤
Thanks so much!
Safe travels.. Would be nice if you had a buddy boat. Looking to hear you are safe and sound on the other side of the Pacific.
We do have a buddy boat join us in week 2. We are 100-300mi apart but great to talk with and hear their experiences are similar to ours.

On our Pateron, There is an option to follow in real time. Certain levels get access to our garmin InReach tracker. : )

We are trying & learning. We’re not perfect that’s for sure😊 Yes, the past two weeks the engines have rarely been on - so nice!

Expense & limitations. A lot of cruisers skip for this very reason.
@@SailingParadiseFalls thank you for being so consistent with uploads. You’re my Sunday morning ritual. Hope we can cross paths on the water.
