My grandma has a treadle Singer from the late 1880s that was passed down from her grandma (we don't know if it was passed down to her, or if she bought it secondhand). I absolutely adore the sounds it makes when sewing. I do NOT want to inherit it anytime soon! I do however hope to one day have a hand-cranked one like yours for the pleasure as well as the practicality of having something that works even if the electricity goes out (which actually happens a fair few times where I live).
I love hearing that there's older machines out there that still work! I love using mine because its quiet, its sturdy, and so long as its oiled and maintained, it can last another lifetime or longer!
Great video I have preymuch the same one was given to me .. I believe it’s from 1946 would mine use the same bobbin .? And where do I find them .? Also I’m looking for a walking foot..thanks
The bobbins are most likely a "Class 66" type bobbin. There's a fair few shops that still sell them, you just have to google it. As for a walking foot, so long as your machine doesn't have a slanted foot or high shank presser foot bar, you should be able to use most "low shank" presser feet, so you likely again, just have to look at sewing stores for one. Start with vintage parts sellers and that might help you with a starting point
I have a question if I give u the model number of my old singer .could u tell me what model I have ..? There is bobbins on eBay but I don’t. Want to buy them if they won’t fit.. thank you
This is beautiful. Thank you for the information!
glad to help out!

I hope this quick guide helped someone out there! Do you have a favorite sewing machine? If so, what's your go-to make and model?
