Lucky! I have a 74 Kenmore that didn't have a pedal however I have a 73 as well, and it was on dollar Monday, so for a buck I had a 73,74, and now a 76 as well I inherited!
I just bought a vintage Kenmore- I'm very impressed with the stitch quality. Mine is a 12 stitch around 35 -40 yrs old. I have lots of machines, and this one really is up there with the best - I never expected it to be this nice. Good for you getting this one!
Shopgoodwill- great place for vintage machines. I have ordered many but they don’t always pack them well especially when they are heavy. I have received several damaged machines, unfortunately 😢 I bought that exact Kenmore model from shop Goodwill.. great find thanks for sharing!
It is a good idea to send them an email and let them know how you want the machine packed. I also phoned the store where the machine is being shipped from before they process the order. I hope this helps.
I have a Kenmore model 158-1760 that I bought in 1974, and I have an older one that my mother bought in 1963 in a cabinet. I have the same booklet (which is very good) and have used mine for my and my children's clothing, household drapes, slipcovers, quilts; just about everything. The only thing I never liked was the button maker and a problem that I believe is in the tension. However, it is a workhorse. I have a Viking that was given to me that I used for piecing, but the Kenmore is there for the heavier stuff like binding. Yours looks very new, but make sure you follow some directions for oiling and greasing on You Tube which is very simple.
