Drake is the embodiment of hip pop. Hip-hop is one of the biggest genres now, to a point where it's now in the mainstream. People enjoy the sonics of his music, they enjoy the melodies and the rhymes but the music doesn't really have any substance (every now and then he does). He's not being creative and he's not pushing the artistic envelope, like musical comfort food. In my opinion, you don't have to be hard or rep a hood to be part of hip hop but one thing you can't be is fake. Drake is one of the fakest rappers at the moment, it's no wonder everyone turned on him. You're right too. Kendrick makes music for hip hop, in the way he sees fit which is what Drake should be doing. Drake makes music to get number one hits that appeal to as many people as possible
