    I was ignorant to the making of this. And all the terminology that went along with it. Thank you very much for taking the time to explain such a simple and useful tool/item!

    Perry, hope all your family and friends are doing well. Seems the world has gone totally nuts the last couple months. I took an early retirement to get out of the rat race. Maybe now i can get out and explore nature. Thanks for doing what you do. It brings a sense of normalcy in an otherwise Bat crap crazy world. all the best

    A great reminder Perry. Thanks... I've got some Zing-It for little projects, which I'd completely forgotten that I had. I need to make some stuff. Glad to see you're doin' well during this mess.

    Thanks Perry for that tutorial on the splicing. I'm looking forward to one on the stand itself. I live where there's trees everywhere but when in your country I need the stand for hanging my hammock. As always a nice video.

    Thanks Perry! Can you tell us what size amsteel you used and what size fid please?!
    Thank you!!

    • @wildernessinnovation
      @wildernessinnovation  3 года назад

      we use 1/8" and have a fid for that size, I've not been able to find that fid again, don't know if they still make them..Much better than using a hook.

  • @alf3553
    @alf3553 4 года назад

    You make that look so easy. I’ve only played with making some lines out of 1.75 zing-it. That fid looks easier to use then a piece of wire. What size Amsteel are you using for your rig ? Looking forward to the next video on this.

    -4arl, nice explanation. How did you choose the wall thickness on the tubing. I assume you are using .075 6061 T6. Do you break the edge on the inside of the hole in the tubing?

      These are made from EMT (electrical conduit) 1" and 3/4" as for breaking or chamfering, I just do the best I can, initially I used a chamfer bit to get the outside. Now I just try to remove the burr. I use a belt sander to do that on the outside and a piece of conduit on the inside, sliding it back and forth to break off the burr. I made a number of the stands in this manner. I also purchased an aluminum telescoping pole from Tensa Outdoors, I got the Solo and really love it. Its very sturdy aluminum, 5 sections heavy wall, not sure how thick, I haven't mic'd it. Nice for a ready made solution. I'll have a bunch of videos up on the full stand and the Solo soon. Thanks for asking

    Pretty sure that once you lock the loop (locked brummel) the bury no longer has to follow the "X x d" where d is the diameter of the amsteel to constrict on itself. At that point the bury makes it "nicer looking". Great Info, though. Thanks!

    Perry,
    I see you've been in some gnarly situations where I frequently camp and hike up to in a notuonal game preserve the number of mountain lions/cougars has really grown 1st one now 9, two years ago on game cams, and with two three converging wolf packs and a she bear; I watch bear grylls, and as a note worthy survival expert, he recommended throwing down your food when you see a bear and running away, think of all the money I will save on bear spray, and no extra weight carring a pistol on my hip. So at night I've thought I might not wake before a bear or a cougar even a pack of wolves attacks me in Bear's line of thinking I just tie a couple of pork chops around my neck at time making all these animals happy to come upon me asleep in my tent and knowing I've given them a snack and being happy to see me and all they will all realize I mean them no harm, I think these sweet animals will gratefully take the pork chops and just move on, how do you feel about this animal friendly approach? 😜
    Best David
    Hey do you have veteran discount for any of your products also do you allow us postal service money orders to pay for products? Can you cut a sleeping pad 3" to 80 inches long I'm a tall guy.
    Thanks
    David
    P.S. Bear Grylls is such a wealth of knowledge, what do I know only been mountaineering and backpacking for 50 years now out alone most often sure nice to see wild animals in habitat unless they're up a tree ready to eat you.
    Thanks dave
