I was so stoked for that ending. Your daughter’s white tail was the best part of the video just because of the happiness in her voice. I wish that segment was longer.
Took me 20 years to draw a moose permit. 800 miles in 3 days. A 6 day season. But came away with a keeper On 4th day and blown engine a day later. Good times. Do it again in a heartbeat.
Old time hunters take notice. Same desire fortitude but with a little modern spin! I thought so much of real hunting was lost until I watched this gem. Thanks so much.
16:07 - 16:23 Having watched all the MeatEater Seasons & this On The Hunt series, while not a hunter myself, I kept thinking... "gonna be a gunshot any moment now" and then the moment it started moving after that I thought, "it's gone, where was the gunshot?!" I'm glad Janis explained what was going on there afterward, and I'm even happier that he managed to get back on it later that day so he could be with his daughter for her hunt.
Nice hunt, nice shot, excellent table fare and really well done production. Thanks for taking us along. For my satisfaction, please explain the muzzle break/ silencer and why you think it is necessary (anyone). Again, awesome hunt.
We're glad you enjoyed it! Check out this article on suppressors and why they can make such a big difference-- www.themeateater.com/hunt/firearm-hunting/everything-you-need-to-know-about-hunting-with-a-suppressor
@@MeatEaterTV Thank you, makes sense now. In fact, I have a 7mm Rem and I also have tinnitus and hearing loss, both from work and shooting guns without protection while hunting, unfortunately.
Think you missed opportunities. If during rut, patience is key. Bucks will almost always let or force does into open areas before they expose themselves. I've seen it time and again. Deer aren't stupid, especially where there hunted. Bucks while in Chase of doe will let does go into exposed areas and watch. Before they enter or follow during rut. Even then they will try to push her off into a "more private place " 😂 Big bucks don't get to be big by being stupid. They are wary and aware of hunting seasons.
Actually really enjoy the hunting aspect but combined with cooking of Meat that you guys just hunted is What set & setsThe wild within & Meateater shows apart from all the poorly produced mind numbing hunting content out there
I loved the channel, always have, my kids included. My issue is Rinella had so much cool commentary, deep life stuff always included. The "New" business model has split from the previous trend and ignored the old ways. No replacement has showed a positive restructuring or employed the fundamentals in any meaningful way. Damn shame a guy has to watch many videos with different objectives to get what just watching a season could achieve in history. Maybe this wasn't meant to be after all.
It’s a hunting show first and a cooking show second. What made the show popular was hunters on the hunting channel not foodies on Netflix that was a byproduct of the great success they had and support from other hunters.
Maybe montana manages mule deer pretty poorly? The amount of time spent on this hunt and also years you waited to draw this tag. This is kinda depressing. Fear mongering on CWD has caused so much of this over harvesting of deer. It's a bit ridiculous.
That was one of the most satisfying endings I've ever seen; Janis keeps his word and takes his daughter hunting. Sweet!
I was most excited that your daughter got her buck, too. Thanks for including that.
The last 30 seconds were the best part of the video! Love it!

So glad you put the clip of your daughter in there at the end. Congratulations to her.
The episodes made by Janis are by far the best! Lots of information and he really takes you with him in the adventures.
What a hunt. Had everything which made it so good.
100% team effort
Then to cap it off with your daughter. Well done.
Memories forever 👍

I like the honesty of these videos.
Congratulations to you both for filling your tags. I especially enjoy that you added your daughters deer too. Awesome 👍👍
Last part was the best part!! Thanks for including that.

Perfect timing for lunch break 😂 great video again!
I love your passion & drive.I have 3 daughters who all hunted with me. Now they are all grown up and raising their own young hunters
So great to add on the culmination of you and your daughter's hunt. Congratulations X2!!
So glad you showed your daughter get a buck. Love the wonderful family dynamic
That ending was awesome!
Love the longer format. 22 mins always feels too short
Great hunt love you guys but the best part of the whole video was the last 30 seconds
That’s a beautiful buck Janis.. congratulations….
And a great big congratulations to your daughter for harvesting a beautiful buck of her own..
I’m glad to see someone on the meateater crew finally using some good optics
Overpriced? Yes
Nice old Tundra. I've got an '02. Love it. Continue the good stuff y'all do.
Congrats to you and your daughter! Way to go Janis!
The ending is the best!
That's a heck of a hunt by Janis. Patience wavering through mule movement.
Great job my friend😊 Excellent hunt😊

Really great episode, right before I go out after work on day three of archery here in BC
Awesome! Congrats, to both of you!
Great ending
Congrats to both of you!
Thank The Lord! Seems like it’s been a rough year for Jani!
Gen 3 Tundra, one of the toughest pickup trucks ever made.
Love the stick handle 🤙🏽
I love that Janis drives a 1st gen Tundra. #yota
Awesome self control, that's great to see. Especially if you end up with a successful hunt.
Great one
Janis is my favorite Meateater host - Close 2nd is Chef Jean Paul, but I dont see him around anymore
Thumba up! Youre a good Dad
Best ending ever
Perfect ending.

Glad you bagged one Janis, I was starting to feel bad for you brother! 🤙
Nice video man , thanks.

Hey Steve, Jani needs a new truck for all the hard work he's been giving you!
Last Year? Rifle season for mule deer starts Oct 26th and it's Sept 4th
Labs Nameja gredzens Jāni! What are you doing October 1st ? Hunting season is starting up in LV.
Love Janis
Tell your daughter congratulations. I know how it feels to get one on the last day and it's a great feeling.
When is the Meateater/Banish suppressor coming out!?
Where do you get your music from? The western guitar solos and ambient music
Janis, we need to get you a smaller/lighter suppressor, holy shit that thing is yuuuuuge!
Any new word on Rinella's comments about Morgan Wallen? I would have thought more people would have taken those words to heart?
Nice
Bam #1 Baby! Get Some!
The bots beat both of you claiming first 😂
Well... Let's see the whitetail hunt.
Damn bro how long do you need? Jeez.
Right! Lol
I am Brazilian I would like to watch meat eart dubbed in Portuguese.
Best part of the hunt was Jani getting back in time to take his daughter out again!
Jani actually killed something!? 😮 must be a leap year 😂🎉
Your headlamp is upside down Jani! Seems that's the way it goes on 80% of the time for me haha

Does anyone know any info on that leg protection he was wearing?
The leg gaiters? First Lite makes them. They're solid - Brambler Hunting Boot Gaiters
@@LoganDove-m1jwhat about the pants? Those the new 308’s?
@@Runs_Wit_Scissors Yessir - those are the 308 pants. Very comfy and stretchy. Haven't tried the lined ones yet but the standard 308 is solid.
What does he have in the pouch under his chest rig?
Spartan precision bipod holder made by FHF gear
What kind of rifle is he using?
He's more than 'Camera Operator', he's Dave
How did the optic manufactures get it into peoples head we need to sit and stare into them for hours or days to get a good hunt?
Not like he's flying a thermal drone over to find them man, sorry we like looking at animals?
Does anyone know what rifle Janis is using?
It was a tikka 7mm rem mag. I believe custom built. It was on his IG
@@brycejones1166 Thank you!
I’m surprised he wasn’t shooting a Weatherby “Meateater Edition” in 7mag. I’m pretty sure SR shoots one. Probably his is custom built by Weatherby.
Its in the MDT hnt26 chassis so its most likely the Weatherby 307
Swarovski? Isnt that conflict of interest 😂 jk great hunt brother

Lol there’s a chance at a monster buck anywhere deer live..they never name hunting units “monster buck” unit 😅
Missing. Missing is so, so much worse. So much.

Didn’t shoot because of that branch? C’mon dawg.
I want to see your daughter's hunt---seems like she had great success
👍🇧🇷
Dont think id be telling people you shot the buck again after shooting hours.
The DNR is not going to give you ticket for killing a wounded animal after shooting hours
Hey a little free info.. you guys are who you are because of the cooking aspect… maybe include that on every hunt because that’s what people want
💯
