After escaping a mental asylum she was able to live post on a popular Instagram and basically form a cult uninterrupted? And her friends, who had basically had their lives ruined by her original goal to save Chantal, not only devote themselves to everything she wants to do, but they also become sexually obsessed with her? Nah fam, this season was wack.
I mean episode 1 of season 5 (or the last episode of season 4, I forget) is a confirmed hallucination, and the insanity in this season makes it seem very plausible.
I saw it as an alternate timeline. I’m pretty sure Dory eluded to it herself. Her funeral was the happy ending in the world where she died, but her coming back to life triggered a bad end that destroys the world.
Season 5 happened in her mind world. Remember the last scene that Dory stood in front of a wall of missing person posters. Those missing were the ones who Dory missed in her mind world. She come back to life in hospital, but she was insane and kept yelling "I seen it all" and "I saw everything". So Drew, Elliot and Portia had to send her into mental institution. There she developed a vision of an upcoming zombie apocalypse and her being the savior. Those missing persons (classmates, roommate, teachers, old friends, relatives) probably didn't know what happened to her after that notorious trial, and they never came to see her in mental institution. They disappeared in her life and therefore simply went missing in her mind world. They all became one of missing person posters in her zombie apocalypse. And this time Dory stood and watched those posters, and they kinda reminded her of the past and the reality. So She turned and walked away. "Who are you hiding from? Honestly, myself." Those who knew her past ( murder trial ) had to either become zombie or disappear so that she could get rid of her past, and marry Drew and be happy with her best friends. Those who made Dory feel even a little bit upset either went missing or became zombies, such as Gail and Marc. Gail might have come to see Dory in mental institution, and helped her recover by talking about things in the past or in real world, which in fact disturbed Dory. So Gail turned into zombie and was dragging away by the guard. The last scene that zombie Gail was struggling with noose around her neck looked like she wanted to talk to Dory, but in Dory's eyes zombie Gail just wanted to bite. Also, Dory wanted to help Elliot get out of his terrible family mess, so Marc and adopted son Aspen had to turn into zombies as well. Dory's subconscious mind even wanted to get rid of Portia for what she did in season 3, but Dory still returned to rescue her for their friendship anyway. All those weird things in season 5 hinted that it's in her mind world. And that explained Drew's change of mind (the escape plan in season 5 / remember the explosion on bus). Dory always wanted Drew to support/believe her actions from season 1 to season 3, so it happened in her mind world (season 5) even after Drew found her drawing of zombie apocalypse from mental institution.
Not in the USA - so we are behind on the Series. Have tried to watch as many episodes as I could - and I was engaged. Then, after all those hours; after all that enjoyment.... Jeff 'The Ultimate One Dimensional Ham" Goldblum turned up and it broke the magic. Why does anyone in media employ that talent vacuum?
