I'm a makeup artist at Sephora and I do ALL different kinds of makeup. This is Ash's stage AND everyday makeup, and she looks amazing with it. Not everyone can pull it off. Yes, there are guidelines to makeup, but not rules -- you can do whatever you want, as long as you do it "right," in a sense. To all of you that say it isn't blended, well, hate to break it to you, but it is. I hung out with Ash and I was sitting right next to her, her makeup was blended and still looking bold enough to come out on stage. It's hard to see in this video because of the lighting and the fact she's only using a webcam makes it difficult. One thing that bothers me is the eyelashes first -- I always put them on last. But hey, if that's her routine, let her do it. Like I said before, Ashley's makeup is pretty fucking flawless in person, but still looks dead-er than ever ;) Love this so much!

Ash is the the nicest person ever. Usually bands just say hello, shake your hand, and move on. They actually talk to you and have sometimes a small conversation (I got lucky enough to talk to ash) I've met NYD twice now, and they were the sweetest people.
First of all, she did this in a laptop camera. That has to be hard. Second, she's not a pro. She's a girl who does her own makeup. Third, it makes her happy. So get the fuck over it of its not "blended". She doesn't have to blend. It's her beautiful face.

amelia diomedes I've worn this makeup myself for quite a few concerts and school dances back when, and you definitely don't need mac and sephora to pull this together. I use a brow pencil from walmart that was 99 cents, fake lashes from the drug store, a black eyeshadow i found on sale at Hot Topic, for the red parts layered a red lip pencil from wet n wild with a shimmery copper-red eyeshadow from the dollar store, for lipstick the same red pencil, with "cherry bomb" lipstick from wet n wild on the outline and an NYC lipstick in a red tone (drugstore). My pale foundation is Manic Panic and costs about 7 or 8 dollars, contouring is just some brown and grey shadows from the dollar tree. Mascara is from maybelline. For the fake blood I used Graftobian, which is pricey, but I had it because I'm a theater performer. My point is that you don't need to have a lot of money to blow on makeup to look good!
I first watched this video when I was a 14 year old little emo girl with absolutely no makeup skill whatsoever, and now as a 21 year old goth girl, to this day, a lot of the way I do my makeup is based off the way that is shown in this video. This video MADE ME.
To all the people saying she doesn't blend her make up and everything she even says if you don't have to if you don't want to it's your face!!!!!! Make up shouldn't have rules it should be what you like to do and what you like on YOUR face!! I met her in person and to be honest her make up looks amazing and blended to her liking. Also she's doing it in a laptop computer screen so it's not going to look how she has it daily. So don't get mad if someone is making themselves look the way they want.
I love that she's a bad ass rocker chic but like at the end of the day she's a girl like us who loves her make up. I like that about her. Also like what she says about this not being an every day look for everyone except her. My parents were musicians and the thing I picked up that I liked the most was your stage look. I never fit in and got made fun of because I'd dress like I'm about to perform in front of thousands, yet I'd be dressed like this and would go to school and the other kids just didn't get it. I used to have so much fun helping my dad pick out his stage clothes!!

The last Halloween, I used purple and black shadow ... my hair was same that my shadow eyes and it was fantastic. By the way, I love your hair is beautiful.
