    I have a black 911s (991). I had it wrapped in 3m liquid copper metallic. I paid 3200. I left the door handles and mirror caps black. That saved money and gave the car a bit of a GT look. It looks great but if you look really close, you can tell it's not paint.

    I would love to wrap my 911. It's Guards Red now. I love the matte look. I was thinking a matte red so it will still match with the red interior accents, door handles, seat belts, and door jams. BUT then I also love the weathered racing wrap look. You've probably seen them. Looks like a race car livery that's been through some hard racing. I know those are big bucks, but man oh man what a show stopper that would be.

    That is the problem. How do we know what quality we get.. Wrap shops need a grading system (A) (AA) or (AAA). We understand AAA is gonna cost more but we could see what the difference is too. That would mean some kind of quality control.

    Tried the DIP game last year in Matte Black on my X6, turned out great but the DIP is a LOT of maintenance for it to stay nice. So I have been slowly peeling the DIP panel by panel and replacing it with 3M Matte Black Vinyl. Its a lot more work upfront but it will look and last so much longer. Especially here in Canada with our winters. Nice video\911

    Okay, real dumb question. Can this wrap be used on kitchen cabinets? Is it self adhesive? I'm afraid that standard contact paper won't hold up & the colored dark panels will show through. 😮

    Was really thinking about wrapping my Lexus IS, but I hear it doesn’t keep for long? And also is for ppl who have money to get it done a few times more then just having it painted? Really would love to know if you’re just a regular guy with a regular income, wrap or paint for the long run?

    I’m looking at getting my first wrap which is what lead me to your channel. I have 2 shops to choose from in my small area. One is 2,750 which guarantees their work for 30 days. They said the wrap has a 1 year warranty and last 3-5 years. The other one is $4,000 he guarantees his work for 2 years and said the wrap would last 5-8 years. I’m not sure what to do. I’m also considering just having it painted instead. Any opinions on this?

    I’m waiting for a good spray on solution. Autodip is releasing something like plastidip but multi layer and with clearcoat that’s flexible to match.

    • @IdealMediaChannel
      @IdealMediaChannel  6 лет назад +1

      I did some research on the more permanent plastidip like solutions. Maybe someone else can give you some more info, but the biggest problem with spraying something on is cost. To vinyl wrap the whole 911 costs less than $500. To do a spray on it costs at least 3 times as much. But I agree, when there is a equal cost quality spray on solution that acts like vinyl wrap (and maybe there already is?!?!) I would love to try it out!

  • @HipHopHistoryGuy

    #2 - If you decide to sell the car, REMOVE THE WRAP before selling it. It's that simple - no one is going to want to buy a car without knowing what the paint/body looks like unless it's a POS car that you are practically giving away. Plus, if the wrap has any sort of logos or contact info on it, do you want another person driving around with your info on it? (possible lawsuit if something happens like an accident). I had a huge conversion van wrapped with my company logos on it and removed the wrap myself with a heat gun and A LOT of time (it took several days to do since the vinyl won't come off in full sheets where it might have cracked - i.e. the bumpers).

    I'm not sure if I should wrap my car by myself or let professional do it. Not sure if they were cutting my paint.

  • @MICHVEl12
    @MICHVEl12 6 лет назад +5

    Just bc someone is “certified” doesn’t mean anything. There’s “certified” installers that have never wrapped a car. Also becoming a certified installer doesn’t mean you become a professional at taking off parts such as bumpers and door handles.

      TRY TO use a heatgun to heat the scratch. A lot of vinyl scratches selfheal. Worst case scenario, buy enough to rewrap the panel

    That wrap looks good imo! However, wrapping your car seems like an awful choice from an economical pov. From what I've read it lasts for only a couple of years (assuming it's used as a "daily") AND in most cases it doesn't even add value.

    • @IdealMediaChannel
      @IdealMediaChannel  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you! A couple things with the wrap though, is that it does save the paint from rock chips, and for most cars it'll cost less than $500 (if you and a couple buddies DIY). When you take into account how much a clear bra or other paint protection costs, it's not a bad deal. Personally I would not buy a car that's wrapped (I'd want to see what the paint looks like), but I have had several friends buy wrapped cars and it didn't bother them. I guess I'm just old school?! haha

    • @thtftmfg9112
      @thtftmfg9112 6 лет назад

      Ok, yeah the saving from rock chips makes sense. I'd like to see % of how many DIY wraps that turned out decent though :)

    • @ooparamountoo
      @ooparamountoo 6 лет назад +3

      The difference between a DIY and a pro is mostly what you will not see for most wrap jobs. with time and patience (and trial and error usually a bit of wasted wap) you can get a nice finish on the large surfaces. A pro will do nicer corner and cuts.

  • @Basih

    Suggestion: Upgrade the rear brake light to LED (Either OEM 997.2 or Aftermarket).

    • @IdealMediaChannel
      @IdealMediaChannel  6 лет назад +1

      OEM 997.2 don't fit on the 997.1 I believe because they are different shape. As much as I like the LED, since I had an 1985 911 before this, there's something I love about the stock setup. With that said, I hope to one day add to the 911 collection and pick up a 997.2 GT3, which will have those lights stock :)

    any comment about those vinyl anime side and hood wraps from china for about $250? I'd love to do an Itasha. I do know those cheap ones only last 3-4 years too

    • @EternalBeast97
      @EternalBeast97 5 лет назад +1

      James Hughes I’d recommend finding a place or online where they use quality vinyl so you can import a picture you want so they can print it for you. Those on China I don’t think are good quality. Since the film will definitely be thicker than normal it probably won’t have any Air release so installing it would be harder.
      Also even if you post heat it / when it’s out in the sun it might still bring up air bubbles.
      Your best bet would be here. But I’d recommend a good quality picture since it’ll be blown up to the size of the hood you still want the image to look crisp and not all blurry/pixelated.

      I'd be worried to go any lower without bags. The nose is so long on the 911's that it likes to drag already at this height.. any lower and I wouldn't be able to get up the driveway :) Luckily... there may be a wide body m3 build in the not so distant future on this build.. and that thing is gonna be slammed! Thx for watching and the comment Alex!
