For those wondering like me, he's playing what's called an Appalachian Dulcimer. It's the exact instrument you hear in so much "western" country and has a very unique sound.
Its actually a Weissenborn guitar, Which is the brand name of a lap slide guitar. I was very moved by his performance so I started to do some research on him and even purchase an album. He’s really good.
You know someone is IN LOVE with music in this show when he's just singing, not noticing if any couch turns for him. You just go with the flow. That's an Artist!
atveus It is not that he's not noticing the chair turning but actually when you play on a lapsteel, lapslide or a dobro it's like you're playing on a violin with a chunk of metal to hit a specific note or chord... So when you combine it with singing.... it becomes very tricky as 3 or 4 mm off and you're sounding off... On a guitar, you have frets... so when you play a chord or a note, you basically have 2 good centimeters to place your fingers in between 2 frets... That difference makes a huge difference

Quelle satisfaction pour un artiste que ta chanson soit reprise de longues années après pour en faire quelque chose de neuf et vivifiant. La poésie d'un instant continue à vivre à travers le temps. Et même si son anglais n'est pas parfait, Will fait passer tellement d'émotions que je re découvre cette chanson monumentale. C'est de l'or en barre pour mes oreilles. Bravo pour cette interprétation, encore encore!

I watch a hell of a lot of these types of videos, the voice, x factor, idols etc, and I've been watching them for years. So why you tube, why is this the first time I've seen this one? It's 3 years old. Wtf? Begs the question, how many more have I missed like this?
Normally when hearing non-English speakers sing in English you can hardly tell if at all. At least with people from Latin America & Asia. But when i watch french voice videos there's a little something in their voice that always gives it away. I can't put my fingerr on it but i like it. Something about speaking in French does something to their tone and inflection. . I dig it.
