I personally prefer older, i rescued my disabled BFA, Gus 3 years ago, he was estimated to be in his late 50's early 60's. I'm in my early 20s and have been around baby birds and they just aren't for me. The way i see it i'd rather give my love to older/elderly parrots and maybe not have them as long, rather then get a baby and have them for 60+years.
Another great interview with Nadja and Justin, it was honest and they shared their work arounds (which is always an important caveat), and what their journey in training with Ocean and Diesel has been to date through Dave and Jamie. Wish everyone the best as you go forward, thank you for sharing.👍❤️
Side note... My baba don't like harnesses point blank.. Id love to use telemetry but same issue as above. For us it comes down to trusting each other and knowing the body language. When I want her calm I tell her "calm" and use the hand signal.. She then tends to be ok meeting people and animals.
I just got my first bird green cheek conure pickles. She is 3 months old. I realize how slow going this will. Trying to get her out of the cage. I guess we will learn together.
I got an estimated ~34 year old blue and gold macaw and while he was a precious soul and I loved him dearly he died only 2 years later. While a young bird is not guaranteed to live a long time you will have more control over their diet and health than when you buy an older possible improperly cared for and a lot of unknown variables. Birds can have chronic diseases that are very hard to reverse. The avian veterinarian who check him 2 times said she though he might have fatty liver because he had dry itchy skin and had feather regrowth issues in areas his beak wouldn't reach like the top of his head. Well for at least the 16 years of life he had with his previous owner he was fed peanuts and seed based diet. So although I put him on harrisons and vegetable chop he still died only 2 years later. It was very sad and hard for me. He simply collapsed one morning and breathed his last breath in my arms while I burst into tears. RIP Curly I'll remember you for as long as I live ❤️
My parrot Green Cheek always bites my hand, he is 2 months old, learning to eat seeds, do you know why he always bites everything even my hand?, thank you so much for your feedback.

This! Exactly. My older birds are so calm and sweet. So much easier to be around then my younger bird, who’s obnoxious 😊
My heart feels like it is soaring when I see these marvelous birds 21:37 flying! The videography is, as always, amazing. Thank you for sharing

روعه روعه روعه ❤❤❤❤
Forgive me for asking but what type of bird is Diesel?
Diesel is a hybrid Macaw, thinking they said a cross between a Blue and Gold and a Green Winged.
Hope that helps.
Hi! He’s a Catalina. B&G and Scarlet hybrid. 😊
Soooo many birds needing rescue....not all are "older"....just saying. 😞
