It's so cool to see foreigners doing interesting jobs in Japan! 🤩 I hope others looking to work here get inspired to take some more unusual paths as well!

Oh, and I'm a chef in Japan and most of my knives are from sakai, incidentally 😂

@unpackingjapan it is, at least for me (and at the moment). But I'm looking into buying my next knives from Aritsugu and Shintou, which are both knife makers from Kyoto.

@@KaisekiAtHome You love to see it! And I really hope I can inspire others to look into traditional crafts work. Sakai City itself has Eric, a Frenchman who works as a traditional forger so he's deep in the thick of it. It's an interesting field for sure!

Brad knows his stuff, I get why the knife company gave him a job. He talks fast but captivating, natural sales person.. he could sell sand at the Tottori dunes and people would still buy

Brad here! I didn't actually know a huge amount when I joined. The company itself has amazing educational materials and it's thanks to that that I have learned what I now know.
I do talk very fast, apologies. Happens when I get passionate about something. And this was me trying to talk slowly!
