omg I'm watching this video in 2020 and she sounds so young. I'm so happy at how far she's come and what she has accomplished in 10 years. very inspiring.
I bet this Version of her never imagined she's be married with 2 kids and a successful RUclips with over 1mil subscribers. She's come a very long way😊🌼
That is awesome 24nautolover, congratulations! I never even thought of doing this style until I saw Whitney's micro twists tutorials...it took me a few months to gather up the courage to try them though but once I did I wasn't disappointed AT ALL! : )
Since I've been natural I have struggled with protective styling because my hair is short and I just don't think the styles look good on me, but I tried mini twists for the first time and though it took me nine hours I have to say I absolutely love them! It's a lengthy process, but the results are always beautiful, and I'm left with a style that I can wear for at least a month, so to me it's worth it. This is definitely a go-to style for me!
WOw!!! I also have a struggle with protective styles!! But i must say I discovered my signature mini twists style and i love it! Kept mine for 1+ months :)) since it came out like a bob i think it looks cute!!
Hi Whitney I just want to say thanks.. I did my mini two strand twist for the first time three weeks ago. It turned out very nice and its still holding up today. I find your videos very helpful and very inspirational since im a newly natural.. Your videos has really help me through my 1year natural hair journey.. I graduated from hair school in 2003. But I've learned more about natural hair on RUclips then in hair school.. Keep inspiring other.. Thanks again..
Thank you for showing how to do a mini twist and maintain the mini twist for such a long period of time. I thought I was doing good maintaining it for 1 week lol! I am going to do this style again in smaller twists so that they can last longer. You are a blessing!
you are such an inspiration. i know this sounds a lilttle crazy but I watch your vids atleast twice a week to keep me motivated. I love your hair, watching your channel as well as others has shown me the true beauty of natural African American hair.
I'm currently starting to transition to natural hair and I box-braid my relaxed hair. I notice when I go to sleep at night the ends are messed up so this just give me an idea to wrap my braids at night. Yes, you rock Nap.
Love your hair! I did mini twist a week ago...yours are so much cuter. Your hair is much thicker than mine and mine is more straight because I've been straightening for years and not wearing my hair completely natural....
I braided my hair into single braids without extentions to grow my hair. I would rebraid them whenever they got loose at the roots. You can do a lot of styles with braids. I recommend them to whoever wants to grow out their hair.
I was having problem with keeping my twist in for a long period of time, I will be trying this way out the next time I twist my hair I really hope it works out for me, thank you :)
I had to re-watch and push that "thumbs up" when I first watched this in fall 2012(still super late to the viewing!) I was not subscribed, I didn't even know about RUclips accounts, so now that I'm well acquainted with RUclips commenting and I'm gearing up for my annual fall/winter "micro-mini twists" I had to come revisit this video, remind myself why I like this style so much AND why I'm willing to put in the 8+ hours it takes to have em! It's so strange seeing you with this length of hair, it seems like you've been in the "I've Got Mega Long Hair Club" since forALWAYS! I've used the opposite side twist laying technique and the wrapping for my 2 strand twist styles, so thank you! Whelp, great tutorial Whitney and Fabulous shiny twists!
I, too, would have never thought about wrapping my twists. You make me want to keep trying new things as I am getting frustrated with my natural hair. I have been natural since 2004 and usually do blowouts in the winter.
Thank you so much for this video!!! I just did mini twists last night and I was nervous to put my bonnet on because I didn't want them to get all crinkly, lol. Your method worked amazingly well and my hair looks as good as it did yesterday, thank you!!!!!!!
I am in the mini twist phase of growing my hair longer. It is currently at my collarbone, unstretched. My hair type is 3 a/b and is a bit of a pain as twists and plaits tend to slide out more or less as I finish them, because my hair is really soft, like baby hair. My hair is also very fine but I have lots of it so it is a struggle to maintain, much less grow although it does grow long. But it is pure struggle! Thanks for these tutorials Whitney! I am going to give my hair a trim. It isn't even and I was doing the splitting thing without understanding the implications so thanks for explaining that and about the need for neat partings too!
Great technique! I really wish I could do this with my hair but my 4z coils won't have it. Tiny twists always matt up after I wash them no matter how much I moisturize and end up looking like frizzy dreadlocks. Twisting my hair seems to make my hair cuticles lock together, but strangely that doesn't happen with plaits. Perhaps I'll try this wrapping with my next set of mini plaits. Thanks!
I've always thought that I have thick hair... until I tried these mini twists. I've done medium sized twists on my hair a million times but this weekend was my first time trying twists this size. I did the twists exactly how you instructed and the twists themselves came out great and will last but they look HORRIBLE on my head bc there are so few of them. I have to style them definitely cannot wear them down or out.
Thanks to your video I am trying mini twist for the first time. I washed my hair last night and put them in 16 box braids until dry. It made it much easier to mini twist. If this works out I plan on keeping this style as my staple style
This is a really cool idea, never thought of wrapping my hair. I usually rope twist my hair and keep it for a month but I got fed up with the shrinkage from week 3-4 so I switch to plaiting my hair which last a bit longer. Next time though I'll twist it and wrap it :)
I'm so excited to try mini twists in my hair. I've been trying to find a protective hairstyle that I still think looks pretty on me, and I think this is the one I've been looking for. Thank you so much for providing a mini series on it!!! =) Also you have a really beautiful smile!!! ^_^
Currently just did these but I'm like 90% sure I did them a little bit bigger so idk if I can just label them as mini twist or regular two strand twist
I had the same feeling and just tried t do them last night and they were not that bad. My hair is not as long as Naptural85 so it may get worse, but just thought I would say that the length makes a big difference in the timing.
will have to try the mini twists, thanks for the info, this natural thing is relatively new have had for a few years and had one stylist in town that has moved and she was limited in what she was able to do,once 1 1/2 ago she talked me into getting a relaxer to "stretch" my hair since I have very thick,6 mths to a yr still had 4 in of straight hair, I was crushed cause before that length was decent, had to do the big crop, so I've turned to the internet for assist, thx so much. Ms L. Missouri
A friend of mine told me to check your channel out. I am going to go home today and whip up some of your shea butter daily cream and save myself a ton of money. Also, I am going to try the mini twist on my and my daughter's hair...wish me luck!
you are one smart lady. your hairstyles and maintainence are the best! seriously if it werent for your maintaince tips espcially i'd be having to redo myhair everynight or just looking a hott mess after day 1. Love your videos. Thanks a million. Peace :)
Good tips. I want to try this. I like your channel cause its always cool to find someone with hair similar to yours that does cool stuff with it. My hair is an inch or two shorter than yours but pretty similar.
I forgot that I had watched this vidoe before and wanted to take note of the wrapping you did. I will definitely put this into work with my next mini-twist adventure. How often do you wear this style in a year?
have you tried loose twists? Alicia James has a tutorial on them. They're usually done a tiny bit bigger and have the finished look of thicker looking twists. I've tried them and i love the way the twists compliment my face (i got a big face XD) u should try them out too
Actually, she can get healthy regrowth first of all she didn't add products to cause build up on her scalp, and while the hair is in the twists, the already "done" hair will minimize the pull on the hair. Your hair is left alone so it has the time to grow. The twists are really amazing :)
What product did you use to put the mini twists in? Your homemade sticky shea butter mix or the everyday shea mix? How long did it take for you to take them all out? Love your videos! Thanks!
I LOVE ITT!!!!! I will be trying this. So does that mean you didnt wash your hair for 4 days? Is it possible to wash your hair with the twists still intact????
Thanks for all the videos that you've done!! Super helpful, incredibly informative :) Where do you find your hair wraps and satin scrunchies? It would be great to have a reference and an alternative to the ones in my beauty supply store! Thank you in advance :)
After two weeks or so, I will take the front three rows and back two rows and re twist them to get rid of the frizzy look. Do you do that too? BTW good luck on the baby! The first two months are the hardest. Sleep when the baby sleeps!
I notice you do mini twists a lot; do you wash them when you keep them in for a month? Another youtuber said that she washed her mini twists, and found that they started to dred up at the roots (Scary)! I've had mini twists but not for a month, I wanted to know if washing your hair while having mini twists for that long will make your roots start to lock?
@danniv2515 the 'yellow/golden shea butter' is actually called kpangnan butter coming from the african butter tree. Real and true unrefined shea butter is ivory/off white/beige. It is not yellow/golden or milk white. Milk white shea butter is actually refined. Also, when people are selling 'yellow or golden shea butter, it is either the kpangnan butter or it is dyed. Blessings
Dear Naptural, With mini twists are we in risk of our hair locking if we keep them in for four weeks? I was always told that after threeweeks hair is in danger in locking? This would be great news for those of us want our mini twists to last as long as possible!
I tried this and it work well ,but I had to rap it differently cuz of the way the style was but it worked great...... I keep may twist stretched for a month thanks for the help
You look like you're in really good shape. I'm curious if you work out on a regular basis. I do, and I would like to keep twists in for a month at a time but I find it difficult to not wash my hair because I sweat so much during my work outs. I love your nightly routine and I think it would really work for me, I was just hoping your could offer any advice for curlies who work out. P.S. How often do you wash your hair?
i've mini twisted my hair for the first time last month, but i could only maintain it for a week :( I was wondering, how do you maintain the style, not just at night? my hair grows really fast, and by the end of the week, the twists were frizzy and and i had so much new growth at the root i didn't know what to do with it so i ended up just taking them out. my second question would have to be, how do you handle new growth while wearing this style?
How long does it take you to take down the twists? Do you have a technique for the take down? If so, please do a tutorial. I want to try mini twists, but I'm dreading the putting up and taking down.
Did you really use maintain your twists for four weeks with absolutely no spritzing with water before the shea butter sealant? My hair feels so dry. I just had to spritz at least a few times a week after the first two weeks. I added a mix of water, aloe vera juice and vegtable glycerin. Once a week I used flaxseed gel instead. My twists aren't so dry now ^_^
i really like these twists. i want to do this to my hair & as I was attempting, i thought..ah, how many days is this gonna take me? saw this vid & i'm thinking between 3-5 days cuz i know i'm gonna get tired & i don't want them to look sloppy, so i dunno for now. yours look nice though :-)
I do similar things when I wear my twists, but my hair texture is coarser than yours so if your interested check out my vid "How i keep my hair Twists moisturized, NO MORE DRY HAIR!!! (4B) " to see what i do to keep my hair moisturized and lasting for about eight weeks. I will admit that i like to touch up the edges on the weekends though lol Anyways great vid as usual!
i have mini twists in right now but it's hard to maintain because my my hair holds two completely different textures. the front has almost no curl at all and the back is very thick and curly. any suggestions.?
omg I'm watching this video in 2020 and she sounds so young. I'm so happy at how far she's come and what she has accomplished in 10 years. very inspiring.
Im here during Quarantine and you sound crazy young lol. Im still watching you girl. 10 years later!

Se2 Mkay Yep!
Because of her I did mini twist and gained my length after going natural, so awesome!
That is awesome 24nautolover, congratulations! I never even thought of doing this style until I saw Whitney's micro twists tutorials...it took me a few months to gather up the courage to try them though but once I did I wasn't disappointed AT ALL! : )
kerducky Do you think it will dread after 9 weeks? I start Army basic training next week and this is the style I want to wear.
@@Yazzzzy they will

Wow, 10 years ago. So amazing to see how far you’ve come. Can’t believe I’ve watched you for so long. ♥️🤟🏾
I will certainly try this when I redo my mini twists. I need them to stay for longer than a week! 👍👍 thanks for these tips!! I will be rewatching ☺️
Thank you for showing how to do a mini twist and maintain the mini twist for such a long period of time. I thought I was doing good maintaining it for 1 week lol! I am going to do this style again in smaller twists so that they can last longer. You are a blessing!
I love rewatching your videos 😊 it brings me back to my college days when I used to watch you all the time 🥰 you helped me so much, thank you!

Watching in 2022! Go Whitney!
Just finished my st ists; 6 1/2 hours. *whew* Now I'm going to wrap them like you've showed us in your tutorial. I hope this works for me. :)
OMG i absolutely LOVEEEE you hair!!!
I know this is an older video but I seriously have been looking all over to find out how to make this last longer. Thank you for this vid.!

Helen Short Same here! mine is 3b with a small bit of 3c and i recommend doing rope twists to secure them

Excellent Style. I like the fact that your hair did not shrink. Beautiful!!!!
Who knew I could wrap my mini twists? Thanks, Nap!
I'm so loving this re-posting thing, lol... Love watching your vids :-) You're contagious girl!!! lol

your hair is so awesome!! I can't wait for my hair to be that long. I love doing mini twists :)
That’s what I’m saying !!!!! I just started hopeful I make my goals
I had the same feeling and just tried t do them last night and they were not that bad. My hair is not as long as Naptural85 so it may get worse, but just thought I would say that the length makes a big difference in the timing.
i wrapped my hair like that when i wore sew ins.. great method!!

I use this method on my mini coils too. I love this method!!
Nice!! Courtney how long do yours last?? mine last max 6 weeks and i just shared a video on how i maintained them..!
Good tips. I want to try this. I like your channel cause its always cool to find someone with hair similar to yours that does cool stuff with it. My hair is an inch or two shorter than yours but pretty similar.

I'm going to do this for starter locs
Wrapping your hair really works, I did this with my twists this time.
I LOVE ITT!!!!! I will be trying this. So does that mean you didnt wash your hair for 4 days? Is it possible to wash your hair with the twists still intact????
I just used this method! I'm on day two of twisting ;) I'm determined to do mini twists and keep them in for all if March 2012!
This is awesome! I will definitely be giving this a try!
it looks great.
Did you shampoo/cowash/cleanse ur hair while they were in these mini twists?
love it! quick question: did u trim ur hair?
I Love your videos they are so easy to follow and very very helpful!
Thanks for all the videos that you've done!! Super helpful, incredibly informative :) Where do you find your hair wraps and satin scrunchies? It would be great to have a reference and an alternative to the ones in my beauty supply store! Thank you in advance :)
This is great. How do you wash your hair with the TST? I am concerned that my hair will become frizzy if I wash my hair while it is in the TST style.
i think im gona start some mini twists on my hair tonight !
After two weeks or so, I will take the front three rows and back two rows and re twist them to get rid of the frizzy look. Do you do that too? BTW good luck on the baby! The first two months are the hardest. Sleep when the baby sleeps!

@MakeUpGeekz104 you should probably get a satin pillowcase. You can get one from Sally's

Did you try this when your hair was a twa? I really want to try this on my mini twists but I am not sure this will work for me.
Did you spray your hair with water every morning and night with the mini twists?
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Meticulously brilliant!
@Naptural85 How often did you shampoo and conditioner your hair while they were in the mini twists?
omg. Your hair is so springy and wonky! I love it!
your hair looks amazing but does this work for 4b 4c hair?
Is it possible for these to become dreads? Curious.
Yes but you'd have to leave them in for some months! They'll probably start matting real bad around month 3 and start locking from then on.
Girrrrrl you are good!!!!! that is so CUTE and practical!
This is so creative
Are twists how you got your hair to grow? Is it your main style choice?
@LadyYasB Thats my same goal too girl! I just got my done last week and let me tell u, ur gonna love it!
Do you find that wearing your hair in twist grows it faster?
I finished all of mine in one day, lol. I can't stop something without finishing.
i really like these twists. i want to do this to my hair & as I was attempting, i thought..ah, how many days is this gonna take me? saw this vid & i'm thinking between 3-5 days cuz i know i'm gonna get tired & i don't want them to look sloppy, so i dunno for now. yours look nice though :-)
@danniv2515 just so u know... theres AFRICAN butter then theres shea butter.. the yellow is african butter and the white is shea buttter
Would you recommend mini twists if i were a regular swimmer? :)
wow you are so helpful!
I love your hair soo much!! Why don't mini twist work on transitioning hair??? :-(
how do you currently maintain your mini twists, considering your length?
are mini twists how you protected your hair to get it to grow?
do the bobby pins pull on your hair at night while u sleep?
I do similar things when I wear my twists, but my hair texture is coarser than yours so if your interested check out my vid "How i keep my hair Twists moisturized, NO MORE DRY HAIR!!! (4B) " to see what i do to keep my hair moisturized and lasting for about eight weeks. I will admit that i like to touch up the edges on the weekends though lol Anyways great vid as usual!
@estherni1 SALLY has satin pillows.. you should be able to find satin scarves at bss
i have mini twists in right now but it's hard to maintain because my my hair holds two completely different textures. the front has almost no curl at all and the back is very thick and curly. any suggestions.?
