    This is a really good video bro. I have 3k+ hours and I didn't know breakthrough functioned exactly like this. Negating hunting traps sold me, I'm going to try it out for sure.

      I remember hearing sparkykawa complaining about hunting traps and talking about how there's no counterplay or something. Well, here's the counterplay! Get rid of that crutch second wind or sprint and play a more SKILLFUL skill! 😁

    i love what you say at 17:20 this is always my argument for why i dont use second wind, i would rather have something like breakthrough, or perfect block, or shield slam, that allows me to win a fight, than something that helps me not lose a fight

      Thank you dude, being aggressive just matches my play style as well. But it takes a lot of practice to be able to really play aggressive properly lol.

    Enjoyed the video and break down, quality was good also. Learned breakthrough stops hunter traps and fireball knock back so might give this a try.

    it's worth noting that Breakthrough has lots of uses in PvE too. it cleanses all the debuff stacks you get from Ghost King, which can really help you keep on the pressure and save you from the extra damage

      Ooo yeah, and goblin shaman + beetle slow. Goblin shamans are taking heads these days lol.

    Very cool use of break through! Definitely going to give it a spin in norms. Not sure I agree that second wind is there only to "correct mistakes", though. Having more HP than your enemy sure does actively help you win fights, the same way a necklace of peace has value, having second wind active during a fight is free stats. Also, not every matchup gives you a chance to parry. I find that, if I lean too much into blocking tech with the longsword, I open myself to getting recked by daggers. Gotta pick your battles, I guess.

      Thank you, using breakthrough just makes fights feel different, your free to move and make plays.
      I see what you mean about second wind, I didn’t want to say it doesn’t help. But it helps you defensively, same as a necklace of peace. And if you get in to a dps trade with your enemy they are both equally valuable. I tried to communicate that in the video, but maybe I didn’t communicate that point well enough.
      And yes, fishing for a repost killed the fighter in my video lol. And there is no point trying to repost a dagger with the longsword… I am sure a shield repost mite work…

    Hey man! Havent finishrd the video yet cause im at work. But I noticed you didnt use Perfect Block at least till min 4:44. I think you mentioned you used it but im not sure. Am I missing something?

      Lol yes I use the skill to fight real players. And yeah the bug is bull, also perfect block has no effect on AI, it can’t stop skelly champs swings pattern, and breakthrough doesn’t work on that sludge underwater in goblin cave. So many bugs with them, but I think it’s cause they are just over looked by everyone including the devs lol.

      @@BlueInferno Oh no no. I meant even when you were fighting real players. Like I see when you press Breakthrough cause the skill goes on cool down. I didnt see perfect block go on cooldown. But maybe i missed something my bad! ill watch the rest of the vid now that im home

      @@alimoorad5998 Breakthrough goes on cooldown as soon as you press it. Perfect Block goes on cooldown after the duration expires. If you look at 2:16 after the warlock you see it is on cooldown.

    What a great video, very informative. It's a bit of a shame that breakthrough doesn't negate movement penalties from swinging, equipping items, or holding weapons and tools, but I guess then it'd just be completely overpowered if it had that on top of all it's already got going for it! 😂
    I think perfect block is MUCH more useful with a shield and shield mastery, but now after learning that it resets enemy player swing combos, I guess I could make my spear fighter build work after all! 😲

      Yeah I think breakthrough is in a good spot if they make it stop all movement effects. Like that tar the slows you down, and wizards ice bolt freezing effect still slows you. But I think thats a mistake, and could be patched out.
      Oh yeah, Bardiche and spear with perfect block would be solid. And in theory on the lantern shield you could use it free repost damage.

      @@BlueInferno Man I hope they do fix the tar and ice bolt slowdowns not being canceled, that's kinda a big deal if you ask me.
      Have you tried testing to see if the goblin mage's anti-heal slowdown effect gets canceled? 😲

      Thanks man, I actually really enjoyed playing that build, I have dreamed of just walking through rangers traps since playing it lol. And am thinking about manipulating debuff duration to get a similar effect on my warlock.

    Its kinda bull but ice bolts with ice mastery will still stop you in your tracks with the use of breakthrough and its quite annoying i figure its just a bug and itll be fixed soon i hope atleast

    This is a nice explanation of this kind of playstyle but testing this on a low gear score environment is not that effective since there are a lot of beginners mixed in on the low level gear bracket who don't know what they're doing. More experienced players would know that you would be fishing for that riposte and aim for your feet / wait for your buff timer to run out / use range attacks / kiting you with their movement and/or action speed.
    If the testing was done on high roller or on higher gear level lobbies (i.e. 300+ gear score), then it would be another story since BiS gear and "meta" builds tell a different story.

      @@XenoDeki in my experience it has always been a very close comparison, especially if your build has a bow. If it can work in 124 gear score lobbies, then it can work in high roller. It just comes down to having the right gear, and having the skill to apply it. Unfortunately, I didn’t review the cost of the kit for this build lol. Because you would need to have a move speed approaching maximum, an anti rogue and bard backup weapon, and full true damage stats in high roller…. You best be rich to make it competitive lol. Again this was a viability test, not a convenience test.

    Does breakthrough work with forceful shot or no because it’s knockback and technically not slowing you?

      @@H4WKK yes it should prevent forceful shot from knocking you back, just like the fire balls knock back gets stopped. Hehehe that will surprise the hell out of the ranger who thinks only the barbarians “Iron will” has that effect.

      @@BlueInferno completely shuts down rangers, no traps and no forceful shot its great. I just really hope they make it work with ice mastery ice bolts, would be another amazing use.

    I thought that breakthrough has little to none value but now I actually see that game has a lot of abilities that slows you down. And that's why I couldn't catch people with sprint. Fighter has a lot of interesting skills but Sprint and second wind is just way too easy and effective compared to these.

      And thats exactly it, Sprint is so easy to use, and can be used many different ways. I wish they put a little more love in to the other skills to make them stand out. Although they do have merit, it’s just tough to use compared to sprint and second wind.

    It's cool but it's really just not necessary. The reality is that double axe is too slow and has too short of a range.. if you use sprint you can simply space the hit then poke. This game is also not much of a fighting game.. people usually just run away and so sprint is more valuable for gap closing or running. Melee combat is overall just very bad in this game and that's why even though fighter has loads of good abilities, most people only use sprint and second wind..

      Yup you are right, thats exactly why it’s a move speed ranged META. But I hate playing that way. I wouldn’t play the game if I had to play it that way. So I try to invent ways that I love to play, even if it’s less effective. But you are correct, be stupid fast, use ranged, or force a gear diff on your enemy in melee. Are the current ways to play.

      @@BlueInferno Yeah. I wish it weren’t that way as well. If this game had better combat mechanics, it would be a gem, but I think they’d have to overhaul things from the ground up. They should have gone for something more simple like Skyrim type combat IMO

      I really like the combat system, but I can’t quite put my finger on what they need to change. To me it feels like something is just missing.

      @@BlueInferno It's a lot of things. It's the move speed reduction while swinging a weapon, the speed of side strafing, the set attack patterns of weapons rather than directional swings, the lack of sprint but ability to stack MS to increase your walking speed. There is no inertia in the game.. it feels very unnatural and plays poorly. A sprint/stamina system would fix a lot of issues with movement. The problem then would be that melee combat would be too frustrating due to the wonky hitboxes and pretty severe dsync. I think one of the big reasons the devs are focused on a MS and ranged meta is that is distracts from how bad dsync and hitboxes really are. Just a theory.

    It's actually crazy how many counterplay mechanics fighter has for dealing with barbarian and barbarian gets zero.. even the one single perk that barbs get to deal with fighters (crush) can be countered by fighters. They may as well just remove barbarian from the game and make it a subclass of fighter.

      @@ll-ou4iv Yeah I play both fighter and barbarian and barbarian just feels like a weak fighter subclass. It's crazy how many people say barbarian is OP including fighters... easily the worst class in the game lol

      @@BlueInferno The archetypes are super cool! I just wished they worked in this game. You'll noticed that most of the perks are either undertuned or simply very niche bordering on irrelevant due to the high TTK.. like berserker for example. Bersker would be good with longer TTK. It might end up being good in arena if you get multiple lives.
      You're going to find that there is some cool stuff but that rage/achille's are going to always be better due to the move speed meta. I hope you have fun exploring the other abilities too though, they can be interesting to theorycraft at least.
