Since I made this video I've switched around to different label makers and I've settled on the DYMO 1540. The rest of these are terrible in my honest opinion. The DYMO 1540 is the only one I have found that does a decent job, and it has held up very well in daily/weekly use. Here is my affiliate link to it (I receive a small amount of commission with no extra costs to you) Thank you! amzn.to/3SWCdAY
Flashback to the 1970s when I used to play with my grandparents' Rotex label maker. I'm glad to see the embossing label maker has made a strong comeback. Thanks for the DYMO and Motex product reviews.
Awesome! Yeah, the Motex definitely does have a much more modern feel to its look as well. I just recently got the Dymo 1540 amzn.to/3O6LELE It's definitely much more robust than all the others. If your Motex breaks or you get tired of it try out the Dymo 1540. The font is more similar too.
Thank you! This was one of the best reviews I’ve ever seen. Love that you put all of them on the paper at the end to look at the differences between each one. Super helpful. The dymo does seem sturdier. But I like the close spacing of the Motex ❤
Thank you Leshia Danielle! Your feedback is greatly appreciated and I am happy you watched the review! I'm going to release another review soon of the DYMO 1540 which is one I picked up recently (I think it may be better than these!) make sure to check back to watch it! 😄
Yo! I know right lol. I picked up a newer 1550 and it's significantly better than the other new stuff they sell online. It would be cool to label some more permanent modules on your eurorack!
I wish I would have seen this one before I got the dymo, the letters are so much crispier in the motex, and being closer means you save tape. Plus you get more symbols and letters. As for the font, definitely the 101
If the Dymo Omega doesn't Print Properly it could have a small strip of tape stuck in the print mechanism. Occasionally I've taken mine to bits and cleaned it up. You can pull bits of tape out of the print mechanism with a pin, or tap it upside down on a table !!!! It's not easy to re assemble it. I've had my Dymo Omega for years, and used it thousands of times !!!! I think it's great for making Labels !!!! If the labels don't stick I put Sellotape over the top of the Label. I also have an Electronic Dymo Labeller which is very Good and Does Professional Looking Labels !!!! I like the Blister Pack because it's a Brand New Machine inside !!!!
@@altArchitecture I've got 2 Dymo Omegas. I was going to get an Electricians Brother labeller for use on wires and cables but I decided to use the Dymo Omega and some Sellotape instead. The Electricians labellers waste large amounts of the expensive tapes, because they feed out an inch of tape that is blank, and leave a large space at the end !!!!!
The Motex prints OK if you pull the trigger sharply !!!! The big problem with the Dymo is when it jams up the Whole thing is Glued Together with Superglue. The Motex completely comes apart so it's much easier to Unjam. I prefer the Motex although I've bought some Superglue Solvent so I can Fix my Dymo when it goes Wrong !!!! My old Dymo comes apart easily and is about ten years old !!!! I bought a Dymo about a month ago and it instantly jammed up. !!! So I threw it away and bought a Motex which is much better. I have bought a Dymo Omega made by a Different Company but that is Glued Together, but it's a better machine than the Dymo !!!!! I hear Dymo Electronic machines are now being made so you have to use Dymo Label Cartridges in them !!! My Dymo Letratag uses any make of Cartridge !!!! It looks like Dymo are not a very good Company any More !!!! Their machines are not very well made now !!!!
Probably not a good idea to pick a model you've never used until you made the review as your 'Recommended' model. A brand new model tends to work out of the box. It's only after you've used a model for a year or so that you could honestly say it's worth buying and doesn't have any issues. So does your recommendation still stand or would you pick something else?
I’m not quite sure what you mean. Possibly you can rephrase that? A review on the 1540 would be good because that is the one I recommend. Thank you for the feedback!
@@altArchitecture You reviewed a bunch of items (thank you) but then you recommend a model that you say "I haven't used until today.". I guess I just feel the most useful reviews are the ones where the tool or product has been used for a year or so and it's still working well. For example we wouldn't know if a month after you posted this review (recommending the Dymo Omega) that it had problems and you'd given up on it like the Dymo Organizer Express. That's all. Thanks for doing this though. :)
@@RobertAbe I understand and agree. The reviews where someone has been using them a while are much more helpful! I should be more clear in the future about my experience with the product and if it is my first impressions or not. Thanks for explaining and the helpful feedback 😁👍
@@RobertAbe I like the Dymo Omega. I've had one for twenty years and made thousands of labels. I took mine to bits because a tiny bit of tape got stuck inside. They are incredibly well made. So long as you make sure the tape has ejected, there is not much that can go wrong. I have just bought a New Omega, as a spare. I also bought a Dymo Letratag Electronic Labeller which is absolutely fantastic. But the Omega is Cheap on Labels and I use that most of the time. The Letratag will print professional labels so it's a nice machine to have !!!
yeah.... my dymo organizer express never been good ... sometimes the letters are not line up. now is not cutting. it jams often. i dont need anything expensive.but i may end it up buying another labelmaker
Did the DYMO Omega hold up? I have the steel (chrome) DYMO 1570 Deluxe Tapewriter Label Maker it’s truly ’Heavy Duty’ it about 26 years old and it’s used hundreds of times in the field (wildlife biologist) labeling trail cameras, stands, security boxes and all our gear and I use it at home. I also have two DYMO Office Mate II 1540 Label Makers. All plastic, but very good quality plastic and they’ve been going strong for over 12 years. Another good quality long lasting one is the DYMO 1610… good quality, plastic, sturdy, and it performs excellent. However, if the DYMO Omega holds up well, I wouldn’t mind having one for some work at home because of the extra symbols. Best wishes
@@TheEinharjar That’s been my experience with these Label Makers. I elected to just pick up a few more vintage Dymo 1550 Tapewriter (Silver and Black Chrome)…
@@altArchitecture thanks for the advice. I ended up with the Motex for a variety of reasons including the simplicity of the movements. I've opened up my Dymo and there are a lot of parts that could break and given the size the plastic lever that turns the gears to move the tape could easily give in. With the Motex, I feel the mechanism is simpler and has lesser points of failure. I also liked that the Motex has a tighter spacing in between letters. Makes making labels for smaller items easier.
@@cedricduyongco Thanks for the great analysis Cedric. I agree on all points. A follow-up video on what I feel to be the best of Motex and the best of Dymo is in order. I'll keep all these points in mind!
@@someuselessquotes6639 The omega isnt consistent or rigid enough. Its weak plastic and turn wheel get stuck too often for my liking. I needed something slightly more rigid and can spit out labels consistently. Heres the Dymo 1540 I was talking about amzn.to/3Xg0d3J
