JÜRGEN | Part Five: The Legacy

  • If Jürgen Klopp was asked to produce a docu-series about himself, how would he go about it?
We think Jürgen would tell the stories of the people and places that have influenced and impacted him throughout his career as a football player and manager.
Supported by ERDINGER, The Anfield Wrap travelled to Glatten, Frankfurt, Mainz, Dortmund and around Liverpool to hear unique stories from the German’s journey, told by those who know him best.
The five part docu-series explores five recurring themes throughout Jürgen's story -- challenge, culture, journey, winning and legacy -- and features footballers that played with and under him, friends that stood by his side through thick and thin, colleagues that helped him move to the next level and the fans that gave him their undying support throughout.
In the final instalment of our documentary series on the career of Jürgen Klopp, we highlight the lasting impact that Klopp has left on each of his favourite places, with intimate stories that sum up the man, the manager and the leader.
These are tales told by people who were by his side every step of the way as he went from the Black Forest to the top of world football...

As a German I want to thank you for this great documentary, especially as it brings our people closer together. Finally we see, that we have more in common as we may have thought. Jürgen is the best ambassador we have right now. Although I love FC Liverpool, I still wish to see him one day as our national team leader. Of course, in the future, not now. All the best for the reds and Jürgen ❤

Klopp was born for Mainz, Dortmund and Liverpool. He's the city, the people, the club. As a Liverpool fan, he represents everything Liverpool. There are few managers that has the ability to do that. Be the essence and soul of a place.

This is why Klopp is much appreciated as compared to any other manager in the world. Klopp leaves a legacy and also a blueprint on all the clubs he has managed. Look at Mainz now ... they are where they are right now because of Klopp laying a foundation.. Look at Dortmund.. they still play the same style as what Klopp has imprinted in them... Look at Liverpool now... he has made Liverpool great again and winning everything..
Love that quote that it's not important what people think of you when you come in but more important what people think of you when you leave. I will certainly cry when he leaves Liverpool that's for sure and probably share the same sentiments as the Mainz and Dortmund fans when he left Mainz and Dortmund.

      My sentiments exactly!
The connection between the three clubs extends to the uncanny similarities of blue collar / working class roots of each towns citizens!
What are the odds all three clubs sing You’ll Never Walk Alone” before the start of each match?
After watching this masterpiece, my families European vacation next year will include visits to Mainz and Dortmund so we can support OUR Bundesliga clubs and enjoy a drink or two with the locals!

I'm old enough to remember Shankly's arrival and watched as this humble Scotsman talked like
he'd lived in Liverpool all his life and that the he understood how we felt about our team?
I'd never had a real life hero up until that point in my young life, but for the first time I'd
found one! I didn't understand completely what I was feeling as a 9yo but I knew it was
there within me and I loved it :) I can't say Klopp is as important and as special as Shanks
but he's pretty bloody close :) I can't see anyone akin to either of those managers ever
being seen again, that just seems too far fetched to imagine.
The quality and content of this doco is top of the league guys, well done TAW.

Just watched this after Jürgen announced he is leaving yesterday, and I cried too many times, great job fellas!! Thanks Mr Kloppo for all you have given to the World and especially Football. As a Liverpool fan since '05 I have been privileged to watch him since he arrived in 2015 and have marvelled at all the stories and people around him who find him as a normal human being, but rever him at the same time. Hope he finds his energy and life back into him with this future break, and can't wait to see him back in whatever capacity, when (hopefully) he returns back to the footballing world. And if he doesn't, I just wish him the best at his endeavors and pray he lives a long and happy life, reminisicing of all the good and bad times, as well as the joy he has brought everyone close to and far from him!
