      Part of "Rio Grande" was based on the 5th US Cavalry Regiment's rescue of kidnapped girls taken to Mexico.The Officer Commanding(OC) was Brigadier General (Retired) R. J. MacKenzie AKA Slidell. He started using his mother's name after Confederate Ambassador (Uncle) John Slidell (1793- 1871) was taken off a limey flagged civilian ship by the USN.

    • @MrYfrank14
      @MrYfrank14 9 месяцев назад +4

      To be fair ,we only beat you because we had an overwhelming force.
      Kill one and 10 more soldiers show up at the next fight. We were also technologically advanced and you couldn't catch up. You had to adapt by taking our weapons.
      And, many people do not realize there were many native American tribes and half of them didn't like the other half and were killing each other long before the white man showed up so it was easy for the US to get help from one tribe to defeat another tribe .
      In a fair fight, US probably would have lost.

    I May regret Saying anything more than I already did about this Film Earlier. But all I will say is. That Henry Fonda, and John Wayne were Actor's playing Key 🗝️🗝️ Roles opposite Each other in this Film. And the Producer & Director was the Legendary Mr John Ford. Who had been a Military Commander in the US Navy During WW2, prior too His Career in the Film Industry. That is Where I had placed & gained my own thoughts about the Influences it had, towards the US's Military Interests at that Time. As I stated then. The Thoughts were only my Own recognized assumptions, which I had recently Come too acknowledge only in the Past few Decades or Year's. Before then those Trilogies had always been favorite's of Mine Growing up in the Sixties & the Early Seventies of My Youth. Thank You for Sharing, and Allowing Comment.

When my dad was away in WW2 my mother had a stdio photo taken and sent it to him with the message written on it, “Does this look like the girl you left behind?”, I scored it after he died.
