      I know...it just feels like a "sucks to be them" type deal. There was pretty high chance that Jacob or Evie could have died way before they got close to achieving anything major. Good thing Crawford Starrick was so easy to conquer, that WOULD have made things difficult....stupid Starrick

      "easy to conquer" lol. Also the the average lifespan was so low because of kids dying very young back then. Every second child died before 5 years old, especially in the bad parts of London. Don't forget they used leeches and tinctures to cure sick ppl, lights on the streets were each lighted manually and almost everybody was pretty fuckin poor

    the only reason why life expectancy at the time was so low was because of high infant mortality.. If children exceeded the age of five they would typically live for 60-70 years depending on many factors of course

      Sebastian Tomczuk wtf u smoking

    • @joniharr
      @joniharr 7 лет назад +67

      This is true, infant mortality was 36% before the age of six and they are counted in the average life expectancy.
      Still workers in dirty factories and so on also had a lower life expectancy of around the 40-50.
      Also nutrition is a major factor but that is why higher class people pretty much lived as long as we did now if they did not get a major disease.
      Whenever you check the life of old famous people you will see that most of them did live pretty much standard life spans by our standard because famous people were rich (or at the very least had enough for decent food and heating and so on)
      Darwin lived to 73 just around this time, Newton lived to 83 a couple hundred years earlier.
      Many famous Romans lived to their 70s and 80s even though back then the life expectancy was 35.
      Because they count infant mortality, which is a bit stupid in my opinion.

    • @DARKENINGTIMES
      @DARKENINGTIMES 2 года назад +3

      well, the thing is that living during that time especially in london was pretty hard if you think of it from a realistic standpoint. pretty bad healthcare with more disease and likeliness of injury, over-population, pollution, etc. the industrial revolution made life hard on people. its the reason why so many babies were born with deformities and died so soon. also why so many people got cancer. but i mean, plot armor exists so they probably ignored all that and evie and jacob lived to be like 70 before they died.

    70 is old, how about that Altair making it to his 90s in the 1200s? That's impressive. Ezio only made it to his 60s. How old did Conor reach? How many assassin's get to die of old age

    Assassin's creed syndicate could have been one of the best ac games. But it had a very avarage storyline. Imagine this game's story started in childhood of both jacob and evie frey and how they struggled,how their father was murdered,how they started as an assassin and took their father's work. The character development of this story is very poor. surg abberliner, Dickens, Darwin,karl marx,alex flamming all these historical characters and they couldn't create a meaningful character development. All of them could have been a important part of the assassin brotherhood. Jacob's mission could have been more creating a perfect assassin's brotherhood. Evie's part of collecting the pieces of eden was horrible and very little. And the worst thing is the villains. Ubisoft just lebeled those characters as villains.they were so stupid omg.their cause,their beliefs,their work was not described well at all.
    Aside all the bad sides of this game. Damn that gameplay it felt so awesome. Gameplay was the only thing that has driven me to complete this game

      I mean, if you think about it, the game was made in a year by a team that had not made an AC game before. So honestly IMO on that point alone the game is amazing in how it came out, especially in terms of how polished the gameplay is.
      Could it be better? Absolutely. But it’d need more time in the oven. 1 year for a game of this magnitude is not nearly enough, especially for a team that isn’t comprised of veteran developers of the series.
      It’s my favorite AC game by far. I love Ezio for sure, he’s great, but the gameplay in the older games leaves a lot to be desired once you’re used to the smoothness of the newer games. Especially since you could now actually be stealthy while in older AC games you just had to hope the guard wouldn’t turn around while you’re slowly walking their way to not make a sound.

      Atticus Howle It definitely hurts the series when you have to be introduced to a whole new protagonist in each game. Arno and Connor for instance should definitely get sequels, and eventually do a crossover style game where both team up to go after Shay.

I also love the time era it takes place in and the whole street gang thing really had me hooked. I thought it was WAY better than black flag, AC3, and Unity. Okay wow, you really need to read up on what life expectancy actually meant back then. In the old days a life expectancy of 40-45 didn't actually mean that you only lived to 40-45. The reason why it is so low is because of the infant mortality rate begin incredibly high compared to now. If you got past the first five years of your life as a child, you would probably be just fine and live to 50-80 depending on what happened to you.

    Just to be specific. WW1 simulation events happen in 1916 (that's mentioned in the game). Therefore the last year we know they were still alive is that year. Also, Britain was never invaded during the wars, and almost all raids were on strategic locations (factories and big cities), so I don't think they died during WW1.

      Alexander Romero Yes it’s worth it. The pros are you get all the DLCs with the Season Pass for free and the cons are that you automatically get gear packs that you either will like or not and the weapons will become useless in the future because you will be able to use legendary weapons.

    AC: Syndicate didn't come out by the time this video released, but that game shows that the artifacts can not only make you live longer, but make you literally immortal, and they did have contact with an artifact in the game, one that's capable of healing and regenerating, so given how powerful the artifacts have proven to be through the entire series I think it's very capable that they lived for way longer than 40 or even 70, even if their time with the Shroud of Even was limited

    I think you keep equating average life expectancy with average age of death. Most people that lived well in to their middle aged years could easily live well beyond that too. The child death rate was very high due to a number of illnesses that killed children, that in the modern world can be dealt with easily. If you average the age of all of the adults back in that time period, the average Age of Death was something like 68 if i remember that stats correctly. Only about 10 years less than what it is today.

    You seem to misunderstand what life expectancy means. Life expectancy has been low historically mainly because of child mortality and sickness and injuries that couldn't be cured. Age 40-50 wasn't considered "old" in Victorian times. If you stayed healthy you could become as old as you can today.

    As the video stated it’s not unheard of for people to exceed their life expectancy, there’s an irl example, a sir Samual J Seymour was five years old when he witnessed the assassination of President Lincoln. Mister Seymour would live long enough to end up on the 1950’s game show “I’ve got a Secret,” where contestants had to guess who he was and what was special about him. He was 96 when he died in 1956. He would be about 20 years younger than the Frye twins, but still it’s incredible just how long this man lived, and not only did he witness the President’s assassination, but he would have also lived through two world wars, the invention of the automobile, the airplane, and the television no less.

    A thing to note about life expectancy of those times (and earlier on). One of the major factors of the vast difference between our life expectancy and the life expectancy of centuries past was due to infant mortality. One of the major breakthroughs in lowering the infant mortality rate was the advent of washing one's hands, and before this, doctors would often handle dead bodies and deliver babies without washing their hands, making lots and lots of babies sick.
    The image of people keeling over at the ripe age of 35 or so from days gone by looks very silly with this context in mind.
