I'm a 47 yr old Deadhead and I still Love the GRATEFUL DEAD as much as I did when I first heard Workingman's Dead when I was 14 yrs old when I heard Ripple I wanted more and more the Dead gave me a feeling Music never gave me before. I still Listen to THE DEAD everyday especially when I'm cooking.
So good - much appreciate your filming skills too, at the Chicago shows last week I was bouncing and dancing as I filmed! This is a lovely flashback, thank you for posting...
Hey Dennis M I wonder if this was the show I saw at Old Cardinal Stadium in Louisville in 91 and I love Bruce Hornsby he opened for them and then played with them it was a magical night my only dead head experience and I'll never forget it
" ...Laid down last night, Lord, I could not take my rest; Laid down last night, Lord, I could not take my rest; My mind was wandering like the wild geese in the West. ..."
I never heart the traditional/original version, but when I play this it always sound slower...I do the D chord up till the last of the verse, then C and G; sometimes C major 7-G to spice it up...with them, it's like, "Hey Mr. Weir, do ten lines of coke and play D-C-G as fast as you can until the F-C at the end of the verse" Weird. Still, I could never play like this in a million years
I know you, rider, gonna miss me when I'm gone I know you, rider, gonna miss me when I'm gone Gonna miss your baby, from rolling in your arms Laid down last night, Lord, I could not take my rest Laid down last night, Lord, I could not take my rest My mind was wandering like the wild geese in the west The sun will shine in my back door someday The sun will shine in my back door someday March winds will blow all my troubles away I wish I was a headlight, on a north bound train I wish I was a headlight, on a north bound train I'd shine my light through cool Colorado rain I know you, rider, gonna miss me when I'm gone I know you, rider, gonna miss me when I'm gone Gonna miss your baby, from rolling in your arms I know you, rider, gonna miss me when I'm gone I know you, rider, gonna miss me when I'm gone Gonna miss your baby, from rolling in your arms
I love you rider and I'm sure you must love me some I love you rider and I'm sure you must love me some You put your arms around me like a circle around the sun (from Lomax Archives)
@PinkFloydrulez there are so many 90s shows that are great. it makes me wonder if you really believe that statement...las vegas, oakland shoreline, eugene, north carolina, wisconsin....and many more places had great shows...
@petecandacedaly you owe it to your self to find yourself a good copy of this show - the whole thing is just killer. it's one of the few (the main one, actually) post-brent shows I spend any time on. i can't recommend it enough.
Is it okay that I wore a BAD RELIGION t shirt to my second show? I couldn't decide whom I liked better...so I shouted Who Cares as I knocked over a hillbilly mic on my way to the bathroom.
really not a big fan of later dead, tonally I think the Tiger is terrible (however the thing is a piece of art to look at) it has always puzzled me what Jerry saw in it. it was certianly unique and had its moments, but mostly ehh. This is a great recording however, and while I agree with other comments that bruce didnt seem to mix well for some reason he did seem to inspire jerry, so cant complain about that lol. a very very good recording for it being so late on, favorite recording is 5/26/72
Replying to the running poet> Real dead head? Pretty loose category as far as I am concerned. People that like good music. Never sold grilled cheese, or begged for the next ticket. I'm not a dead head. Can I join your club that listens to good music? I don't need a monicker, I'll just be me. He said it was amazing. So the people that don't like amazing... The spirit of forgiveness, and of love is just something brought on with age, and some good drugs. Maybe just a hey dude one love. Whatever
I’m 71 and remember listening to Morning Dew in my apartment in Venice, Ca. Good weed. Good friends. Good times!
All of my worries melt away when I listen to The Grateful Dead
Yeah I know what you mean.

Miss U Jerry.. 24 years Such a long long time to be gone, and a short time to be there..
Super band the Grateful Dead gives me happiness😎
Wow! Fantastic performance , and such a trip to see the stage so dark, with just the barest spots on our friends.
I wish I was a headlight on a Dead show-bound train!
Neil Cole ABQ A folk standard!
Actually the Kingston Trio made reference to head light on a train going through the weed smoke in Colorado in 1961 (Chilly Winds).

I remember seeing the Dead sort of with Vince and Bruce at Soldier Field a year prior to this. Funny how foggy the exact date can get.
Jerry .....Wow
Nothing like a good rider to get you booging. The China/Rider from the Cap Center 3/15/90 is golden. First show
My first show too. It was a banger
Hi Jerry !
I love you rider and I'm sure you must love me some
