the stronger the punch you use, the higher you go, and if you miss then you leave yourself wide open. That's why sometimes it's better to use a weaker version.
Who ever was using Ken in the first 2 round had fireball throwing issues or lack there of. Fireballs are in the game so as are throws. So you can't fault the use of either even how good or cheaply either can be used.
Nobody could out-FB Ryu in this game, not even Sagat. 11 frame startup 39 frame recovery on all strengths. Those were the days...none of this 13 frame startup crap (SFIV series).
Also if the person isnt preempting the fire, then a fire ball from 2 feet does make sense since he will either have to block it and take chip damage, srk through it and face a potential sweep, jump and eat the fireball since the hadouken hitbox will be too large at 2 feet away to jump. However, there is one thing a Ryu player could to beat that, any guesses?
Throw a thousand more fireballs Ryu, even when you are 2 feet away. No, not a noob, just someone who doesn't need to rely on cheap ass shit to win a match.
Those of you bitching about the 'abuse' of fireballs, I'd suggest you read David Sirlin's book "Playing To Win". You can read it in it's entirety online at his website, sirlin . net
@S0ryiu no, no matter how you spell it. Go play your cheap boring way that ANYONE can play. Ironic considering the video is Ken and Ryu. When Ryu says in Street Fighter III "Trying something new is to explore your potential" clearly the Ken and Ryu crowd ignore that.
And he lost. This Ryu player is not very good -- his fireball use is not effective. He's incapable of truly reading his opponent's intent, which is how Ken scored so many jump-in combos on him and won the match; the Ken player had strategy and adapted. This Ryu relies solely on the character's natural advantages. If he were playing against a good player using any of the boss characters, he would've been slaughtered.
first off...how can this be a tournament? it's gotta be some of the worst playing i've ever seen. ryu is so predictable i bet i could get a 90 perfect off him both rounds. and ken, why didn't you jump in every single time ryu did a fireball and then ANOTHER fireball, totally predictably? ken rules in this game btw
Excellent, excellent match.
nice vid....
brought back my memories of skool
this will be one of the few times I feel happy for a Ken player victory
Great fight! Sweet game.
@S0ryiu ggod for you. Keep holding down back all day long.

im here cause im hype af for 30th anniversary! also, the fighting in the comments is hilarious. chill nerds...
at least the guy using Ken didn't abuse fireballs like a mofo, glad that he won

@sserpent21 Dont get mad that your getting out-zoned. Most people that just spam dont have a back up plan since they dont zone properly.
@endauthority lol. Roger. Do you have a supercade account. I will really like to meet you face to face...lol
If Ryu didn't choke in the 2nd round he probably would of won, but good game.
It takes one to accuse others of such.

am i the only one who thinks this game is hard as fuck against the cpu?
Hadouken!
HADOUKEN!!!!!! HADOUKEN!!!!!
@endauthority
SSB is the most precise fighting game I have ever played.
Problem, buttonmasher?
lol it sounds like ryu is saying "r u ken!?!?"
YES IM KEN NOW STFU!!! lol
how can u do a backward senppu-kyaku?
YES IM KEN
You're talking like you won some serious tournaments. Let's compete!!!
As a vega player all I can say is I would dodge.....
yeah dude match sounds wierd.
eso tipos son hardcore pero no creo qe tengan una oportunidad contra mi
yeah, fireballs two feet away, makes sense. I bet all you know who to play as is Ken and Ryu and you never tried anyone else.
awesome, but still ryu used the same pattern over and over, it was getting repetitive and a bit cheap.
@S0ryiu Sorry, but I would try to win by not relying on the SAME move over and over and over again.
Ryu is a spammer Oh My God!
@endauthority Ok noob. Whatever you say. but mind you, I never mentioned that i can't get around fireballs.
But he won lol
How about, Ken is an interesting character, while all Ryu can do is spam Hadoken?

Ryu was cheap than a bitch.

@endauthority So immature Whatever yes. You win. Not gonna argue with a kid.
both of these players are no good... period
@Liqu1dSun That guy took the flavor out of street fighter when he made the HD remix. Looks bland and all the background characters looks freaky
Glad Ken won, the Ryu player was just a cheap player.
I hate ryu's that spam hadouken. So noob
to many Hadoken!! Lamer
@endauthority 3s?.not good at game imo..Lmfao..Noob yes
Ryu player is playing WAY too cheaply. He keeps spamming Hadoken.
first off...how can this be a tournament? it's gotta be some of the worst playing i've ever seen. ryu is so predictable i bet i could get a 90 perfect off him both rounds.

Kinda cheap.
