I've been needle felting for several years, but this is my first armature-based needle felted human doll. Loving it, and filled with inspiration for future projects! So many great techniques I can apply with or without armature. Really enjoying this series of classes! Thank you, Marie and Living Felt!

Been thinking of trying this to give myself a hobby. I suffer major anxiety and depression since the loss of my 10yr old. I find myself having a hard time feeling joy in much as well as a purpose. My daughter had special needs so 24/7 care and now I am lost since my other children are adults and teens. Been watching tons of videos and the way you teach is the best. It actually makes me feel like I could do this and with practice maybe be able to make gifts for family especially my granddaughter and who know maybe be able to donate to childrens hospitals in the memory of my daughter. Thank you for sharing all the videos it may of just gave a path out of this darkness into the world again.❤

Thank you for your kind words. Art can be so therapeutic...I find it can be meditative, and purposeful. It can help quiet our mind and connect us to our inner guidance..where all things are good, and love reigns. Making for others adds another dimension that I find very healing. I hope you will begin..make anything, explore and enjoy the process...there is such power in just the act of creation. Sending you all good thoughts for a new outlet of expression and joy. ♡

I am enjoying these tutorials soooo much, thank you 😍 I am a little concerned though as I made a female body and the head is looking very masculine at the moment! Hopefully when I start to shape it a little more I can create something a little more feminine. I am also loving using you MC-1 batting, it is so easy to felt down compared to what I have used in the past. I live in Australia and it takes about 3 weeks to get here so I have to make sure I save up enough for a decent purchase each time. Thanks again 💜

    • @LivingFelt

In my first dolls, I had a lot of challenge with making feminine faces... brow too strong, nose too strong, chin too strong, thick neck. For me it tooks some practice to soften those features. :)

Phew...made it to video 2 and I still have my hair!! Actually to be totally honest, Marie, you are an amazing teacher. You have a wonderful way of explaining your technique. I wish you would come to the East Coast (Rhode Island specifically) and do a workshop!! Wishful thinking, I know...but maybe...just maybe...a Post-Coronavirus possibility??!!?? Anyway, I have a only a couple of questions before I venture into Video 2.
First, towards the end of video 1, you touched upon forming fingers. You didn't mention whether or not that after stiffening the fingers with the 50/50 solution, will they still be bendable (or should we form them into how we want them before they get "stiffened")?? I am not sure at this point what "accessories" my little doll will (or will not be) holding on to, so I wanted to know if I will be able to make her "hold" something later on.
Second question on needles - I am a VERY NEW needle felter. I only made 2 small animals prior to attempting this project (and knock on wood, have YET to break a needle lol). Anyway, I ordered the needle felting kit from you all and it came with 3 needles. How long do these typically last, if you don't break them first? 😂 Do they "dull" after a while? There are SOOOOOOOO many needles available, that I am having needle nightmares lol lol...are these three I received the ones I should pretty much have at all times?
Ok, sorry for all the Q's...love you gals!! ❤️😁

Watching from Taiwan, love this. series so much. After rewatching about two times, I am starting making my doll, too. Just a quick question here, my head-ball looks more ellipse but not totally round, considering I am making a doll with a bit longer face than the dolls‘ in this video, can I leave my head-ball with that shape and just start to make his eyes, nose, chins, etc? Would the ellipse shape be helpful for shaping the longer face I want, or it always must be totally round? Sorry if my question doesn't make any sense.>

I want my fairy to be light skin tone and whatever color hair and medium size body- like could hold in your hand easily. I dnt know what to buy from your site to get started on that. Please help. Hi Sande, sometimes a phone call is helpful. But for the skin tone, I (me = Marie Spaulding) would use MC-1 PALE PEACH for a fair skinned fairy.

For the hair, consider MERINO TOP in your color choice tiny.cc/jfmv9y
      OR NZ Corriedale

    Hello Madam ,
Do you have a big doll kit at the end of the video?
    ho too good, thank you

Hello Martine -- we have a doll kit that includes all of the same items used in Marie's larger dolls. To make a "larger doll", add more of the wire -- there is plenty of the Core Wool. feltingsupplies.livingfelt.com/Needle-Felting-a-Doll-Supply-Kit_p_1485.html

my biggest pet peeve is when I'm trying to teach people and their's is soft and then they keep going and in the end it looks like a blob.

    • @LivingFelt

In the beginning, it is challenging to know what is firm and how to get there. I confess to having made LOTS of squishy pieces when I started. Also, you will find that some people dive into "details" while others are very happy with what you might think is half felted. The key is...are they having fun? They might go on to be very good felters one day ... you just never know what comes from teaching, encouraging and support. Hope you have fun teaching and sharing :)
