I miss my father's white Jetta mk2 1.6 gasoline, it was a fast car for it's standard, since it 30+ years old.. I had Such wonderful time as a child. These cars are indestructible.
This mk2 jetta in 16v form and the mk1 Vento VR6 two of the best chassis I felt safe in going into wet corner on a freeway without worrying about sliding. Handled very well. Very nice car this is indeed.
I always considered the Jetta a cool sedan, kind of a good rival for BMW 3 series in the compact sedan class for people who like FWD. My father had a MK1 four door when I was a kid, now I have a MK5 TDI with 390 k km, really fun cars!
There’s one of these, a few roads down from me. It’s a sad story of it though. As it’s been off the road since 2013. I checked its TAX disc. And I can confirm it’s been off the road since 31st October 2013. Which is a shame. As you never really see these old Jettas here in the UK anymore.
Had a Golf 2 GT Special with GU engine. Extremly powerful, torquy and especially responsive, even for a car that weights below 900 kg. Nice "Wehrmacht-Heer" license plate btw.

@@testdriveheroyou can put a huge aftermarket twin choke weber on there straight fit. or 4 Honda CBR bike carbs with adapter inlet manifold. Be nippy with the 1m8 engine lovely example that buddy... Really clean car
@testdrivehero. So do I. But the sad thing is: it’s missing its two front wheels, and there’s rust that’s appearing on one of the side panels. The only downside of leaving a car out in the elements here in the Uk! Due to salty air. But maybe one day, the owner will get the courage to restore it back to its former glory.
