I visited beautiful Co Kerry, including Listowel, four years ago. That impressive church at the end of Church St is a Protest Church of Ireland house of worship. Now it is abandoned with only a handful of Protestants remaining in Listowel. What happened to Listowel's once large Irish Protestant community? Why are they gone? What happened to them? We thought it such a beautiful church!
Their numbers continually declined and the last clergyman,Deacon Wallace died in the 1980's.The church was turned into a theater and is doing well.It was built in 1819.
There is a Catolic majority also most of my family grew up here I love this place!!!
