I remember finding this vinyl in my parents collection when I helped them move out a few years ago. I played it and immediately fell in love with Reina’s voice over her nostalgic pop production. She really put her all into each one of her songs, and even listening to her songs I’m transported to a happier time in life back during the bubble era. Apparently, her music was popular in the prep rooms of various cabaret clubs at the time. I was surprised to know she actually ran a bar on the side as a hobby! Imagine my heartbreak and when I realized the nature of her death at the hands of the yakuza. Being torn between two sides and her passion being ultimately the cause of her death, it’s a story that haunts Kamurocho. I hear her bar is doing good, survived by a former detective or something. There’s also rumors of a former regular of hers in a grey and red suit frequenting the place.
Here's another sad note about Reina: Her original Japanese VA, Hiromi Tsuru (also voiced Bulma in Dragon Ball) passed away on 2017 at 57. Her successor, Atsuko Tanaka (also voiced Motoko Kusanagi in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) who voiced her in Yakuza Kiwami, also passed away on 2024 at the age of 61...

For the first time I started playing through the yakuza franchise 2 1/2 months ago. I am now on like a dragon gaiden. I have lost judgement and infinite wealth before I finish all of the. I think this is by far the best franchise I have ever played in my life next to like final fantasy. Some of the most memorable characters and story ever. What a beautiful franchise. I don’t know how people play these games in English audio by the way. What a sin.

We understand the general meaning, but nobody talks like this in real life. It would be very close to what you get if you ask a native English speaker to write a song in Japanese. Or alternatively, write a song about love in your native language, but then shorten every sentence by 40%, then run it through google translate.
@@sharpiefumes I see. I knew it. I would not be able to have such an in-depth conversation with you without translation, but Google Translate is not as accurate as it could be for the Japanese. For example, I imagine it might be similar to the discomfort of changing Japanese to English and then changing the sentence back to Japanese again. Thank you.

Google translate has trouble converting English to JP or any Asian language in general because we have vastly different sentence structures, however despite the language barrier we’ve still come to enjoy the series all the same. We don’t mind that the lyrics don’t make sense, because the song has been burned into our minds from playing the cabaret club mini games
