RLawt0n His “destiny” was more or less to protect and serve the main-branch. What Neji did was more protecting his friend Naruto and his Cousin Hinata out of love rather than duty. I’d say it’s definitely different from his original “destiny”.
Honestly one of the sadder moments in Naruto. But thumbs up for Neji world's best wingman even in the end helping his bro out.
Oddly enough, Neji back in part 1 ended up being right in a sense. He ends up dying to protect the main branch. It did end up being his destiny in the end

Nejis fight with naruto lost meaning when naruto was revealed as the incarnation of the son of the fucking SAGE OF SIX PATHS and the CHILD OF PROPHECY making him destined for hokage more than anyone
Neji's death was so sudden and unexpected like it came out of nowhere in my opinion. He isn't one of my favorite characters but still a great character R.I.P Neji. Hard rewatching it. 😭 😭 😭

This was a phenominal episode. I always remember Neji’s death as a big moment but I forgot how strong this episode was as a whole.
As an antagonist lover I find it interesting seeing others point of views while watching these kinds of scenes lol
Noble Nitro this series main antagonists goals are one of the best I've seen because it really makes since. Would you rather live in a world of dreams where you control everything or a world of truth where you control nothing? I honestly agree with obito and madara here about their ideals, they really are trying to create peace even if it isnt reality.

Oh wow. I completely forgot that Shikaku, Inoichi and Neji all died in the same episode (btw. great timing with kicking neji out of the character tournemant ^^). Three of my favorite characters gone in one episode... Damn, I'm almost crying again.
Edit: also this episode the Hyuuga are really impressive. I was really surprised to see Hiashi was that strong.
Remember how Hyuuga clan was described at the beginning of the series? For me, it's obvious they can be super strong. I'm kind of disappointed to their small place in the scenario...
I know, but after that they were very much pushed to the side especially compared to the Uchiha, Senju or Uzumaki clan who turned out way more importan to the story with some way more powerful individuals. So it was good to finally see Hiashi fight and not just see him act as Clan-head. I agree, I guess I would have liked to see more of them, but at least here at least the way it was portrayed there's no doubt they are the most powerful of all the Clans (when we exclude some powerful individuals like Naruto, the Uchiha ... of course) Hiashi himself blocked one of those ten tails arms all by himself. That's pretty impressive. Would have been great to see more, but at least we saw something and I honestly that late into the manga hadn't really expected it anymore.

Apparently the creator of Naruto, Masashi Kishimoto, stated that he randomly picked Neji between Kakashi Hatake, Shikamaru Nara, Choji Akimichi, Shino Aburame and Kankuro of the sand, to be on the character to die list.

What was scary is that when Obito offered Naruto to join his side, Naruto slowly looked up actually considering it. Thank goodness for Hianta...
Naruto reminded him of his former self. Seeing Naruto do what he's doing is only making it hard for him to forget and hide it.
that's what I call character fucking development, in the pain arc when something similar happened he snapped and that caused alot of problems and couldn't get the job done but here something similar happened and he stayed calm and held it in and focused.

Neji was right the whole time. Naruto acted like he changed his own destiny but he was either directly or indirectly related to almost every hokage in SOME way (except Kakashi), had super ultra mega chakra, was the reincarnation of a god-like figure and so on. Naruto also possesses the most powerful jutsu, talk no jutsu lol but for real he had SO MANY advantages. Neji was right about destiny for himself and Naruto. Naruto thought he changed destiny but he played right into it. It makes me mad that Kishimoto said he killed Neji solely to push the NaruHina pairing more. Neji deserved better.
Here's something that'll piss everyone off. Masashi Kishimoto stated in an interview that Neji's death was specifically meant only as a setup for Naruto and Hinata to get together. Not only that, but as you clearly saw, there was plenty of time for him to either use palm rotation or to grab Naruto and Hinata and move

Neji died because Hinata decided to seize the opportunity to impress Naruto by playing meat shield instead of Kaiten-ing those spikes away.

I remember in one of Kishimoto's interview, he said that Kaiten is no use on that situation.. The woods would have split and attacking other people.. (try to read at Hinata/Neji POV.. we all know those shinobis doesn't want any of their comrade got hurt)

I think Neji was most surprising back then cause no flashbacks hinted at it. Even tho I saw it long ago my heart still raced watching it here.
Funish fact: Ao (The guy with the eyepatch) survived that explosion but with serious injuries. He appeared recently in the manga but died later from a major villain.
Funnily enough, it's nearly 8 months to the day Curtis uploaded the last episode where (he thought) Neji died.
Neji's death was sad, but if you look closely you can see that Hinata was about to sacrifice herself for Naruto again

Cried twice seeing neji die again....
It still bugs me that Neji died from a couple wooden missiles... and also the fact that this is the only significant moment for Neji in the entirety of Part 2. Literally... I wish Kishimoto shown us more of Neji instead of making him irrelevant for hundreds of chapters. He didn't need any fights in particular, just a few scenes of him interacting with Naruto and Hinata would've been enough. I wanted to see a gradual change in his character... but we never did. That change was instantaneous which made his death not as sad as it could've been.
But his death was still sad anyway. I cried when I first watched this.
