    For the fecking sake of all that is holy in The Force, it needs to be Han Solo who shot first. It further elevated his character arc, from ruthless criminal rogue to hero of the universe.

    Anyone who says Han shooting first is cold blooded murder or whatever is a really bad take.. even George. Anyone who knows anything about Star Wars knows bounty hunters aren’t particularly picky about bringing people in alive or dead. Greedo was pointing a gun at him and if Han just let himself be captured.. he was going to end up dead one way or another. Han shooting first is correct and it’s only self defense.

      It was what a character like Han Solo would've done, faced with a blaster pointed at him, so it never bothered me.
      Also, it's starts writers like to call a "redemption arc", as Han grows from self-centered smugger to Resistance hero.

    The Empire Strikes Back special edition was easy to take. Not much changed, and the addition to windows on Cloud City was actually a smart, logical move. Plus, no musical numbers!

    • @mikeawesome9212
      @mikeawesome9212 3 года назад

      Yeah but the special edition also showed the sexual intercourse scene between Princess Leia and Jabba The Hut. I mean we all knew it was happening since he did kidnap her and had her dressed pretty provocative but they never actually showed them doing it until the special edition. It was pretty disturbing to see but what made it REALLY bad was how half way through she starts enjoying it and instead of it just being sexual intercourse they end up making love. Whatever I guess.

  • @GeneralAceTheAwesome

    My thing about "Han Shot First", is that no matter when he shot (he shot first tho), it doesn't actually affect his character. If he fired after Greedo, it's still too quick after for it to be in response to Greedo's shot, therefore he was already planning on shooting Greedo. If he fired at the same time or before, then obviously he was already planning it. Either way, he's still a scoundrel who was gonna murder Greedo rather than get taken in.

      Han was being held at gunpoint, if he didn't shoot first he'd be an idiot. The fact is that Lucas can't comprehend the idea of killing a man as justified unless it's war, and even then he's ambiguous about his position if any of his movies can be taken seriously. He didn't want to do the shooting scene in Indy either, Ford had to talk him into it.

  • @MrEf56

  • @RaptorNX01
    @RaptorNX01 3 года назад +5

    The special editions of the original Star Wars trilogy are the better versions of those films. for all the whining about shooting first and musical numbers, 90% of the changes in the special editions weren't additions to the film, but fixing special effects errors. from the blatant squares around ships, to the more subtle backgrounds bleeding through cockpits, the OT was riddled with small errors that become glaring once you notice them.
    and even the additions just helps to flesh out the universe (showing the "busy" space port actually BEING BUSY), or just make more sense (the search for the droids being more then just a handful of stormtroopers walking back and forth, thus making people's apprehension make more sense).
    yet people just want to complain. hell, they even complained about adding bits of scientific accuracy, like the shockwave when the two deathstars explode. which were added, not just because they look cool as hell, but also since in the time between the original release and the special editions the footage came out from those handful of nuclear bomb tests done in low orbit which showed the same kinds of shockwaves depicted in those scenes.
    the SEs made the films even more visually astounding then they already were, helped tie the whole sage together, and overall improved the experience of watching them. those couple seconds of footage that people love to complain about just seems like wasted effort.
    BTW, the theatrical versions were the ones i grew up on and watched as a kid. incase you were wondering.

    • @user-qb9zz1ys3e
      @user-qb9zz1ys3e 3 года назад +1

      Yes, but we can’t find the original version on DVD or Blu-ray to watch it. All the current formats have the little additions and changes. I understand cleaning up the original graphics, Disney does that all the time, but for me the changes that were made stick out and distract me from the movie. I see all the little things that were added in and I start focusing on them. I watched these movies so much as a child that even the ‘better’ change of showing a busy space port makes me go “Something’s wrong here!” in my head.
      Think of it like if Disney had re-released ‘Beauty and the Beast’ but ONLY the extended cut version with that additional song Human Again.

    Oliver Stone releasing three separate cuts of his disasterous Alexander was pretty pathetic. He kept tinkering to try and salvage something worthwhile with no success. The cut that promised to be "more action packed" just chopped out characterization and down played the gay relationship angle.
