Why would we not also offer those services and care for all the people who haven’t been convicted of a crime? How many of those prisoners would have never ended up there if they had the healthcare and opportunities they needed?

Since “California” Democrats brilliant idea tackle its epidemic homelessness crisis was build $800k per unit pods or $700k per unit 200 sf rooms in an abandoned skyscraper, I’m not holding my breath this will succeed either.

This is a very good idea, everyone is going to benefit, the rehabilitation would prepare them to enter the society. The rate of returning to prison will be much lower. A lot of people learn to be a real criminal in prison.

It's been many years since I've been in prison but I did almost 30 years all together. I can honestly say that these programs will not stop people from coming back. The people promoting this do not understand the gang culture in California, they do not understand the substance abuse issues and MANY other things. This is an absolute waste of money. If an individual couldn't put his spouse and family first what makes you think he'll do it for strangers when their own children pleadings fell on deaf ears. The inmates are laughing their butt's off. My son is in ca. Prison and I communicate with people in prison. I listened to this video and the individuals promoting this are way out of touch with the general population in prison. They will be released and return right back to what they know.
I was able to turn my life around because I was finally tired. I was not discouraged by obstacles. I left California and have did very well.
It is sickening to hear these people trying to make money off this, under the illusion that they are trying to Change lives. These are individuals who in many cases have good family ties. Children. People willing to employ them and they still will not change. I was one of them. And prison the way it was was the thing that made me change and I firmly believe they won't change once everything is watered down.
I believe the promoters of these changes are thinking the way Normal people think which is not the average person in prison

I remember when this was tried in the 1970s. They trained them to become radicals and join the Weather Underground.
