  • Rangers in eastern Russia are working tirelessly to protect the Ussuriskii State Nature Reserve, which is under threat from logging and poaching. This nature sanctuary or Zapovednik is home to some of the last remaining Siberian tigers in the region. Filmmaker Emmanuel Rondeau interviews some of the men fighting to save the largest and most powerful species of big cat.

The people being interviewed are so articulate, well spoken and understand deeply the need to preserve tigers, for their own sake, not for some archaic belief in 'magical healing' coming from tiger parts. They are majestic, irreplaceable animals.

These beautiful cats being poached sickens me and puts a sadness in my heart. This goes for any of the world's magnificent creatures that are being hunted to extinction by the worst kind of scum. I just can't put myself in the mindset that would understand shooting these cats with rifles from the comfort of an automobile. I literally can't come to a place in my mind that comprehends the motivation for this kind of activity. The Russian rangers doing all they can to save these cats, but when the corrupt Russian government steals millions of dollars that have been donated with the specific intention of conserving these habitats, their efforts are seriously hampered. Stories like this are why my belief in humans has been dwindling over the years. I feel helpless. If you can't even donate money to help without having it pilfered, what else can you do? Once these animals are gone, they are gone for good. Leave them be.

Why aren’t East Asia and Southeast Asia using pharmaceuticals vs herbal medicines?
It makes very little sense in this day and age to depend so heavily on herbal medicines with all the medical and pharmaceutical advancements.
Sad part is, it’s not only tigers they’re endangering but lions, snow leopards, rhino horns, elephant tusks etc.
How can they be so dismissive of the role animals play in keeping our ecosystem balanced and apathetic to the fact they’re driving various animal species to extinction…..and when extinction happens, then what??

Some tigers must be sent to Canada, Norway, Sweden, and Finland because they are simply more capable to support any reservation project easily. They easily can fund lots of sanctuaries; in addition, no poaching there.
Hope it is helpful solution and someone listen too it.
    Regards,

47Sukhoi True but I don't think these places are home to tigers. Maybe for rehabilitation and when they're ready to be released, send them back to Russia

Finland and Norway are too tiny countries for these animals. Each adult requires at least 800 km² for life. These countries are simply not suitable for this magnificent animal. But perhaps Canada or Alaska would be suitable for these animals.

An ethnic animal represents its human ethnics aswell. Tigers survived in Russia more than any their country, save it ,save your nation's identity. When we losed persian tiger, the name persia changed in everyone's eyes. I don't want this happen to you, tiger is a magical animal.
