I am Danish, so I have read a lot of the local newsreport about him. On one occasion he told about his fantasy to another woman, how he would take a woman aboard his submarine(he had tried with others prior to Kim Wall, who all turned him down) and then how he suddenly would change from Mr Nice Guy to an evil guy who slowly would torture her to death(It is sickening just to write about it). Then it is pretty obvious to me, that he had planned his crime for a long time, and he must have imagined as he alluded to during his trial(he was surprised how easily they found the body deep in the water), that if there was no body, then he could not be charged with a crime. This undoubtedly was his plan on how to get away with his atrocity. Finally, as for his motives. I think he always had a low boredom threshold. He kept on needing more and more excitement, and he thought that in his life, he could achieve whatever he wanted. First making a rocket, then a submarine - and then getting women. He would often invite women over to have sex with them in his submarine, despite being married. He then developed his terrifying fantasy over some years, and thought, he has achieved everything else he has set his mind on in life, so this will just be one more thing to achieve.

I live in Sweden and this case was just too weird to be true. Especially because there was a Swedish-Danish crime series 'The Bridge' which basically was build on this kind of weird crime plots happening on the border between these two countries. And in Nordic noir genre you always have some dismemberments, ritualistic killings and other bizarre nonsense. But this one would be too much over the top even for a crime series. I mean...some tech genius-turned-maniac lures his victim into a self-made submarine??!! And the the torse washed ashore discovered by passers by? This is truly bizarre and of course a tragic case. Kim Wall will not be forgotten.
I also wonder how he managed to contain his urges until late age, usually sex maniacs are early bloomers when the testosterone is raging, not when it is on the decline..

Some things not covered in the video: - He had several rocketry blogs on engineering sites and produced many youtube videos. He's intelligent and well-spoken. He was quite famous in the Danish engineering community, since 2008 at least. - He led the test launch of a rocket at sea, which was covered live on national TV with many viewers. It failed to launch due to an infamous hair dryer malfunction. (He used a hair dryer to keep some critical parts warm.) - He had a TED talk in which several young children participated. That video has been pulled off RUclips. - He made 3 submarines. One of them is on display in a Danish museum today. - The submarine that the murder took place in has been destroyed by the police. - His safety issues were more than just about rocket fuels. He claimed to care about rocket safety in general, but actually did not. He insisted on carrying out an engine test next to a festival. The engine exploded and parts of it flew through a tent in the festival area, but fortunately didn't hit anyone. - The day after the murder, when the submarine sank got a lot of attention and there were concerns for his well-being. Imagine the utter shock when it dawned what had happened to Kim Wall. - He was interviewed on national TV after the murder. On some photographs taken during that interview, you can see blood stains on him. - He left Copenhagen Suborbitals in 2014 after a number of public spats to pursue his own rocket workshop. (They are really, really tired of being associated with him.)

The drinking water is also delicious and has won many awards for good tasting water. The views of the desert are spectacular there. One nice motel I'd recommend would be the Lido Motel. Soak in the hot springs and be refreshed!

I wrote this on an older video and maybe I'm being insecure but I wanted to make sure you saw this. Your videos have been crucial in navigating my diagnosis. I really want to thank you and I'm very grateful to have been able to use your channel as a resource. Thank you Doctor and regards.
My husband got a call from some buddies that the man they'd delivered some computers to and done his IT on his rocket projects, "has been arrested for something serious. He's supposedly killed someone". It was very surreal to them. Even though I'm Danish, I hope Dr. Grande will one day analyze the Eriksson twin sisters from Sweden. At least one of them was living in the UK when their strange behavior on a motorway, took place about a decade ago.
Dr. Grande just cannot make a bad and boring analysis, even if he tried. Excellent as always, Dr. Grande! Thank you and happy holidays! Wishing you and your loved ones always the best and always good health, which is the most important thing - especially on these days. And thank you for, regardless of the subject you are discussing, projecting me (us - I hope) calmness and confidence in these challenging times. Very few can discuss subjects like these and actually do not cause anxiety, just the opposite. That's a gift Very Few have.
I'm Swedish and Kim Wall was Swedish so this was all over the news. You make fun of the Danish way to keep dangerous prisoners locked up. The Swedish system is beyond satire. It's like "Oh, bad on you for doing that, that's not very nice - unfortunately we'll have to lock you up, here's a lollypop and to compensate you for your inconvenience you'll get three meals a day, plus dessert, a computer and whether you wanna follow the rules or not or if you wanna take part of programs or not, you'll be out after two thirds of your sentence." The food is way better than the food the elderly get served when they need special care living. (And yes, I know this because I've visited prisons as a part of my education). I used to be a social worker (duh!) and I'm supposed to be more civilized according to the intellectual consensus in Sweden. When a common member of the public gives a hint that he/she thinks criminals should actually pay for their crimes, it's considered vulgar. If it sounds like I'm angry, that's an understatement.
So you think prisoners in Russia or China for example come out as better and less dangerous members of the society? I will ask you one question: if you happened to have a neighbour who served a sentence in a prison, would you prefer it to be the Swedish one or the Russian one?
@@lusomarga There are degrees in hell. I'm not talking about being scolded in oil. To me it's offensive that you can rape children and get four years in prison like it is here in Sweden. And it doesn't matter if it's 100 children you've raped or one. I don't know what it's called in English but the thought is the same as in a supermarket "two for one". The argument for not sending people to prison is "nobody becomes a better person in prison". I actually don't care. There's a victim and it's certainly not the offender (all though he or she can be the victim of somebody else's abuse). I believe in repent and expiation. I think it's even good for the offender. What you do in life has consequences. If I'd ruined the life of a child - why would it make me feel better if nobody reacted on it. If I have the ability to feel guilt, then it would be some kind of relief. If I don't, I shouldn't be around people in an unsupervised situation.
Hello Dr Grande! Could you make a video about why some women (like in this case) are so drawn to dangerous psychopaths even when they are in prison and found guilty of murdering?
He has a video about it! Maybe a year old. The women have a violent father and seek out similar men but dating a man in prison is safer--the "caged tiger" phenomenon.
Dr Grande, I admire you very much. I am 40, I have ADHD, (diagnosed at 16 and again at 27), I am a recovered alcoholic, I have been clean and sober for 3 years (I drank for 25), have stopped smoking too, a year ago and am now in my 2nd year of my psychology degree. I find you fascinating, I detect that your moral code is of a high standard, your intelligence is very attractive, as are you and I just wanted to tell you this❣️❣️
Please do a video on John Lennon. I’d be curious to hear your take on the mental health and personality factors that may be at work in a life similar to his.
Dr Grande-I've asked before, but right now, all I really want for Christmas is you to do an analyses of the life, rise, and death of the LATE GREAT FREDDIE MERCURY...PLEASE Dr Grande!!!
I'm not sure how Madsen imagined he could get away with this crime. Clearly he wanted her in an isolated place where she had no opportunity to escape, but that also meant he was the only possible suspect.
He totally and 100 percent thought he would get away with it! I would put him in the same category as Chris Watts - the kind of narcisist that has no concept of how dumb they really are... :D
If I wanted to kill someone on a submarine like that I'd fake my death in the process. Maybe take it out to sea, pay drug smugglers to rescue me, and sink it with her inside in deep water. Have the smugglers take me to a country where investigation is unlikely.
I think his grandiosity may have gotten the better of him. He is not stupid, but I think that he actually thought that just sinking the sub and talking bollocks would see him through. His recent escape attempt was kind of stupid too - but again, if you think you are superman, thats a handicap.
I am not commenting on this video, rather just giving an example of a comment I might leave on a video similar to this one. The RUclips algos will not know the difference however..
Waited for this one. Thank you. This case makes me shiver. I know this kind of man.. he has the same matrix as my ex has. You won't recognize "it" until it's way too late. To most people they are harmless. You have to know what to look for.
Happy holidays dr grande. Also great video. Insightful and impartial as always. Peter madson is one messed up guy and I feel bad for Kim walls friends and family. Btw can you do an analysis on seung hui cho the shooter of Virginia tech. Id love to hear your take
Dane here. Very acurate description! Albeit amateurish, I think they let him out during the escape attempt to avoid violent escalation which they succeeded from happening
A life sentence in Denmark is actually LIFE. But the inmate can apply for parole after 12 years (IIRC). Medical professionals and a judge will determine if the inmate can leave the prison. That will be under supervision for some time, then unsupervised visits outside the prison. Later, halfway house, until the parolee is able to function in the real world again. New criminal activity will result in a continuation of the life sentence. Several murderers have been serving more than 32 years before parole. Some will never be paroled.
The ones deemed "danger to the poplic " are held for the rest of their lives, look at Peter Lundin , he confessed to hes murderes, knowing that he will eventually get out , Madsen will never gået out !
Dr. Todd, your lips went out of sync at 11:05. Just so you know. Also, I would suggest the explanation of Madsen being generous: narcissists often oblige other people so that they become the narcissist's agents. The clip is great, as usual
Dr. Grande, you have subscribers who want you to take a few days off. That is how much they appreciate what you do; they want what is good for you. I agree with them. Enjoy some family time, and Happy Holidays!
Thank you for another insightful video. To us in Sweden and Denmark this event obviously stood out as shocking and gruesome. But told as part of a series on disturbing murders, you realize it’s also part of a very clear macabre pattern.
Dr. Grande, I didn't watch this video, I truthfully do not know who this is. I wanted to take this opportunity instead to wish you a Merry Christmas if indeed that is what you celebrate. Happy Holidays if not! You have made such a difference in my life & I thank you kindly & sincerely. Much love to you & yours, Donna Marie Allen ♥️♥️♥️
Please stop those snide comments. In Denmark it makes sense for the guards to let Madsen + female staffer out, because they knew he would be caught immediately. Small country, big social control.
I love your sense of humor. Have you ever done an analyses on why the USA has such a high murder rate or why they have so many serial killers compared to other countries? Merry Christmas lets hope 2021 is a better year
Oh boy. This is the case that haunted my sleep. I'm not sure why. Except for the fact that he had her in a completely vulnerable position from which there was no escape and no chance of help. It screwed my head up to think of the terror she went through. I'm not sure I can watch this.
Facts, that's what I though while watching the movie, eccentric, charming narcissist, how he was able to keep that urge for such a long time, he is a serial killer in the making
Seems unlikely this would be his only act of murder. Authorities might consider analyzing missing persons against the possibility of intersection with this miscreant. Another fascinating Dr. G vid!
Thank you so much Dr, Grande! I was hoping you would one day touch on this murder case. And your analysis on the justice system is so accurate; and that is how it operates in this part of the world; perpetrators getting away with undue leniency. I wish Kim hadn't taken the risk of going alone, just him and her underwater! Do take care and happy holidays!
Dr., please take some time to care for you. You look like you are fighting a bug, exhausted, or both. We will still be here with bells on. Concerned, from Canada
I would be interested in hearing your analysis of the mental health factors at play in the Christine Chubbuck case. A documentary style movie called “Christine” recently came out on Netflix, and it has sparked my interest in her case. Love your videos! Happy holiday to you
Dott Grande could you analyze Jack Unterweger? He is not an American serial killer but his whole story appears exceptional ... particularly interesting would be to hear about the role of the period he spent in jail after the first murder and the correction program he followed: did it help him to become more sophisticated in manipulating people and even more enraged? Many thanks for your videos they are really very interesting and informative.
The last words from Kim before she was killed, was to her boyfriend in a textmessage that said; “He seems fine, he even brought cookies for the interview” (like, no worries). So she had doubts about him and the situation. But unfortunately she was looking for traits that told her the opposite, because she was a good soul. Always follow your guts! ❤️
I live for the quips you include in these already fascinating videos. I noticed you almost broke character & laughed at one yourself, but I gotta give you props because I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face AT ALL hahaha
What a horrific and terribly sad case! I'm glad we had your special wit to lighten things up a bit throughout! Loved all the prison, and Terminator zings! ;D I have to say how greatly I admire and appreciate your very thoughtful, thorough, and all the very hard work you do to allow us to have access to such incredibe content, Dr. Grande! Wishing you much happiness during the Holidays, and in the New Year! ♡♡
Dr. Grande, could you do a video analysis on Winona Ryder? Especially back when she was caught stealing stuff from high-end department stores. I know she's not terribly relevant now but, I think she would be interesting to analyze. TY 🌟🎄🌟
Such a weird case. Poor Kim. BTW - you've given us PLENTY to watch this year, take a break and do you my man! Find some new cases to get started on for 2021 and just take a break for a bit. Love your work and wishing your family/friends the best this Holiday season!
Yet another great video :) as much as I look forward to every upload, please make sure you're not straining yourself - it must be tiring with such consistent and intensive recording schedule. Have a happy Christmas, we'll be there when you're back :)
I’m not sure if you’ve done a video on this already but I’d love for you to cover the Susan Powell case. Particularly the speculation of the mental health state of Josh Powell and his father Steven.
Out of curiosity, has there ever been a case where a person was killed in an accident then someone authentically panicked and disposed of the body? Maybe someone falls down and dies and then the events ensue. but later on someone discovers that there was a video Recording of the entire event and it really was an accident?
@@IvanDmitriev1 interesting, this is not based on a real occurrence, but there's a novella by Otsuichi called 'Summer, Fireworks and My Corpse' about a girl killed by accident and then how children try to cover it up afterwards, because they assume the guilt. If I remember correctly, she falls down from a tree because another girl chucks a shoe at her, and that is the same as overtly killing her in their childish minds. The story is from the POV of the dead girl, as the other children desperately tries to get rid of her. It's a great read that goes into the children's mindset combined with the cultural setting of Japan.
Hi Dr. Grande! I know you’ve made many videos regarding true crime cases, and I was just wondering if you’ve always had an interest in true crime or did you start making videos on this topic because of audience questions regarding certain cases? Do you have any true crime cases in mind that you find extraordinarily peculiar or interesting? Have a great day!
Great video Dr. Grande. In the future, would a video pertaining to the mental health and personality of Randy Kraft be a possibility? As always, great content.
Hello - could you do an analysis of the Van Breda murders? Would like some insight into possible motives. Thanks for your work - all the way from Cape Town :)
Just for the record, in Denmark the prison guards doesn’t have any weapons. That’s why the open the gate. And there isn’t a class where prisoners actually makes weapons. Madsen had make them in secret.
Dane here! There are workshops in prison in Denmark, and detentions. Peter Madsen bragged about what he had made in the workshop in a documentary, and it's discussed that it was one of the things they would take away from him after his escape - as a part of the punishment.
I met Peter and spent time with him back in the earlier years of 2003 to 2007. Our friendship was based on the mutual interest in submarines. He was very friendly, intelligent and charming throughout all my interactions with him. It shocked me when all of this happened. My heart goes out to the family of this young woman who's life was cut short. Even though I found him to be a little strange.... I never would have imagined him doing something so terrible.
@Dr. Todd Grande, I just finished watching the documentary...out now on Netflix. This has several interviews with Madsen on video. It is chilling. I hadn't heard of this case before and I hope you will watch this for the interviews. The very last minute of the documentary is chilling. I just cannot understand someone having a 'fetish' of hurting someone else. Outside of crimes of passion and vengeance, I just cannot get my brain around *wanting* to hurt another being...even unintentional and emotional pain are terrible. I am certain this man will kill again. I wish special sentencing and extreme caution was given for psychopaths, particulary psychopathic narcissists. My mother and sister are NPD. They do not feel empathy. These are 'creatures', like sharks, who are just circling their victims for blood...and enjoying it. Madsen is a psychopathic, narcissistic shark. If you can watch the documentary and do another analysis, I would be very interested. Thank you so much!
How he was describing himself was too much for me, he must have been salivating just from the thoughts of living out his fantasy, he had suppressed his urges long enough
Hi Todd! I love what you do here. JUst wanted to request a video on the following 1. Purple Aki, real name akinwale arobieke, the man who squeezes muscles 2. Branwell Bronte, perhaps you could do one on the bronte sisters too. 3. The polly klaas{could she have been alive when her killer was stopped by police} and/or joan dellasandro murder cases. 4. Maybe one on Jack the Ripper and who you think he was. Thanks again Doc.
Just a reminder I'm not diagnosing anyone in this video; only speculating about what could be happening in a submarine like this.

Your videos have been crucial in navigating my diagnosis. I really want to thank you and I'm very grateful to have been able to use your channel as a resource.
Thank you Doctor and regards.
Merry Christmas to Dr. Grande fans! What could be more heart warming at the approach of Christmas than yet another story of abuse and murder?
It helps warn people of who to trust. So it's a blessing indeed.
Lol
More abuse and murder to realise just how normal we are
👍😊
Yes, we're a weird bunch aren't we?
I'm an going to play all these videos and not skip any ad - this is exactly what I have been waiting for.
Thank you, Dr. Grande!
Hey Dr. Grandr thanks for posting so much lately . You da man doc!! 🥰
Did you know? There is a great acronym for the 5 personality factors: OCEAN! 😜
lol. You must be a regular, too. 😆
CANOE is another one
I’ve never grown tired of it. In fact I’m smarter for it.
@@nl8776 most of them, yes
YESSSSSS
Oh man, your opinions about his escape from prison are priceless! 😂 And of course, also spot on.
If I don't, I shouldn't be around people in an unsupervised situation.
incredible; weirdoes will be willing to have all this for free😠
I have doubts about the Norwegian system and the cushy way they treat Anders Breivik.

Thanks Dr. Grande. The series on this murder, "The Investigation", is one of the best I have ever seen.
Hello Dr Grande! Could you make a video about why some women (like in this case) are so drawn to dangerous psychopaths even when they are in prison and found guilty of murdering?
Absolutely
Yes please. That just boggles my mind.
@@watermelonwishes4193 It's really creeping me out
He has a video about it! Maybe a year old. The women have a violent father and seek out similar men but dating a man in prison is safer--the "caged tiger" phenomenon.

Dr Grande, I admire you very much. Dr Grande-I've asked before, but right now, all I really want for Christmas is you to do an analyses of the life, rise, and death of the LATE GREAT FREDDIE MERCURY...PLEASE Dr Grande!!!
Oh yes..please Dr G, cover Freddie Mercury of Queen...please!!
Yes, Freddy Mercury.
👍 PLZZZZZ I leave milk n cookies out for you! 🍪 🍶
I loved the movie. Freddie Mercury was an Outlier, just like Dr. Grande!!
@@thereal4113 Ha! Good observation 👍🏼💖
@@RsRj-qd2cg When your body wasn't found, you would be the suspect. Most bodies are recovered in the ocean due to decomposition gases.
I think his grandiosity may have gotten the better of him. He is not stupid, but I think that he actually thought that just sinking the sub and talking bollocks would see him through. His recent escape attempt was kind of stupid too - but again, if you think you are superman, thats a handicap.
@@stephaniezebis1225 Yes I agree. Reminds me of a certain reality star turned politician.
You can now refer to me as Phil Dr. Grande! You're mental skills and personality observations are off the charts! Superb job! Sincerely ~ Phil

He was in a different prison at first but got death threaths from at least one other prisoner so they had to move him to another prison, I read.
“I’d hate to think of Madsen playing a game like Twister. Although I guess he would always win..”

@@vitasolberg699 I will believe Lundin free when I see it. He is very unlikely to ever be released.

Dr. Todd, your lips went out of sync at 11:05. Just so you know. Also, I would suggest the explanation of Madsen being generous: narcissists often oblige other people so that they become the narcissist's agents. The clip is great, as usual

Yo Doc, loving the videos. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas 🎄. Enjoy the holidays.

Thanks Todd, good analysis.

If they let him out after the 'life' sentence of just 16 years.
How he was describing himself was too much for me, he must have been salivating just from the thoughts of living out his fantasy, he had suppressed his urges long enough
