Ruckouzz i yes that is one of the criteria that they have to be able to slide by you without too much fear. I know of places that set it up with horses though, so maybe you could design it to make it work that way for you. Their alley ways are wider and they have a place where the horse and rider can sort of duck out and park themselves out of the way and the horse steps out to bump calves over to the sorting gate when needed. Works just as good as on foot.
You can design it to work on horseback. Alleyways are a little wider and you need a spot for horse and rider to "park themselves" out of way. They step out into alleyway when they need to bump calf over to sorting gate. Need to walk cows by in small groups though.
That's an amazing way of doing. So much better then drafting them off. Thankyou so much for sharing this nifty little hint :)
low stress cattle handling is amazing.
Nice Herefords! (and greetings from the U.K.!)
Very innovative the calf apart system
I love it, Dr. S! :-) I'm showing it in my behavior class this week.
Brilliant! Thank you so much Mr. Stookey for sharing.

All good to know 👍🏼
If this will work with bison my life just got a lot easier.
Has any one tried this that would be willing to share?
