You are a devoted man to get out in this freezing weather and capture these great scenes, a lot of time and money spent. Thanks again Bowzer, much appreciated.
BOWZER, THANX SO MUCH FOR ALLL OF YOUR VIDS. AWESOME. ALWAYS WANTED TO BE A RIVER PILOT BUT BECAME A HIGH RISE CONSTRUCTION IRONWORKER IN chicago, THE MURDER CAPITAL OF OUR DYING NATION
Fantastic! I live in the St. Louis area and am very familiar with the Great River Road from Alton to Grafton. I enjoy watching barge traffic but have never seen it like this! Good stuff :-)
Right on Mr Bowzer... these awsome snippets of yours hit closer to home more then you shall know. During 1985 to 1989 i went to college in Elsah Illinois. The campus sits high on the buffs behind the town. It's called Principia College. These videos keep bringing back very fond memories for me. Please keep them coming!!😃😥❤👍
Great video. Boy this brings back memories of working on the Illinois River in the early 70's. I worked one year for a barge recovery service. The winters, flood season, and the low water levels in the hot summer were no joke.
Really feel for those crews , that's some of the worst working conditions there is . People have no idea how much Noise ice adds to simple fact of Living on a Towboat. Good job Bowzer.
Hey man I just got off the Illinois I was on the cooperative mariner and that sugarland much respect to her and her crew did a great job of getting boats unstuck
I see your channel is doing pretty darn well. Holy moly, you're really raking in the views!!!! Thankyou for producing such fine videos. Have yourself a very nice evening.
Interesting channel, I worked for Wisconsin Barge line during the 80s. The Prarie Dawn, (seen in a previous video) was one of the tow boats owned by Wisconsin at that time. I worked at Reidy Terminal, saw a lot of tow boats come to the dock.
I don't know the area, and on Google satellite it's all summer green! Where are those cliffs at 20:21 in relation to a town or a ferry crossing or better yet geo-coordinates.
If ice were a problem in the south, southerners would make a short barge with a V bow and hull so designed to throw the ice to the side. For regular barges, a V would be mounted to the front of the barge to break the ice.😂
I'm wondering why we don't hear the drone more often. I heard a drone briefly near the beginning of this video but I can't remember hearing it in any other video.
There are no dedicated Icebreakers on the Upper Mississippi. When the ice is thick like this we kill out all headway, un-face the boat, and break our own path. If the ice is thick enough the tow won't move very far if at all. When cleared face up and hammers down.

I am so sick of winter already, I’m ready for a nice warm up!

The Sugarland has always been one of may favs from way back to Chotin days.
That Sugarland was fast like a race horse 🏇with empties back then.
I've seen tow boats in the tulsa Oklahoma area many times . They are so interesting to watch them at work. Great 👍review.
Great videos!!! Been watching the ice ones all afternoon.

Enjoying the vids. The Victoria and Sugarland is two of our boats. 👍👍

I love watching your videos, keep up the good work. Old river rat myself, Osceola and Memphis areas is my watching areas and fishing.
Amazing footage, what a struggle to get through the ice. But they manage very well these strong vessels!

In the summer that is a beautiful drive along the bluffs.
And in the fall its even prettier.
We we're on the Donna Rushing and flew down with 6 loads carving a path.

I never knew they had an ice crusher boat

Evening Sir, Anna Illinois here.
Is there ice in the Mississippi all the way up north to Chicago Illinois
Добрый день! Скажите пожалуйста, какие мощности ваших буксиров?
Your drone videos are amazing! How do you manage battery life and getting where you need to be?
How many truckloads or railcars worth of material is each one of these moving?
⚓ on the thumbs 👍
Great video! New camera? @ 23:00 wonderful shot !
Please include closed captioning so the deaf can enjoy your video’s as well, thank you!
marktwainned still on the Brtiny Lee?
so do they run icebreakers or do these boats do the icebreaking? No ice ever in my country.

What are they hauling
How many acres of solar panel does it take to power one of those things?
May I ask what kind of drone you use?
At 5:25 in the video he had that ol girl hooked up once he faced up and started to shove ...

Can anybody tell me why they call these Towboats? They are pushing not towing. They could not tow even if they wanted to!
You might be limited to 5k horsepower?
Saw an asian carp jump.
Dang! beware the critter that lives in that cave, end of your vid.
Pretty boring once hooked up.
You can hear that ice getting chopped up in those wheels
Old boat right there
