- The Sixth "Wine Purge" I am always surprised at how each bottle will taste.
This red wine is 19 yrs old and could have easily went to year 20 or 25 LOL!
As usual, I regret opening my last bottle LOL!! But that is the fun part. Tasting a wine over a number of years and being surprised.

If you have more older wines to review, I would recommend getting a Two-Prong Wine Bottle Opener Corkscrew, they are available for around $20 but good to have on hand. As for decanting, I have heard different opinions on doing that with an old wine. Some say you should and some say not to because an older wine is very fragile and more apt to being ruined.
I may have to @TheDesertWineGuy however, I kinda like having to deal with a crumbled cork 😂
Regarding decanting. I do it for 2 reasons. 1. In this case, separating crumbled cork 2. I want to taste the difference between each.
I personally think that it also depends on the wine itself and a personal choice.
Also, that's why I use a smaller single serve decanter.
Cheers 🍷
